Saw is 12''. That's too short for the 45.
2 Star Review   By Timmay on Home Depot - Jun 2, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I just installed a laminate floor and used this for the new trim. Bads: The saw is 12 inches and kept slipping out of the guide on the far end - not enough length to stay in the slot. Not insurmountable but it made it harder to work with than it should have been. Saw blade could be a little more aggressive. Took me way too many strokes to get through both trim and qtr round. Goods: The pegs do have a lot of versatility and they held the wood securely. I really like the idea of the saw connecting to the box when not in use and that is actually why I bought it. So-So: There probably isn't much in this price range that is better.

Doesn't really work.
1 Star Review   By nksco1 on Home Depot - May 14, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

The box part is fine. The saw is complete junk! First..it isn't a backsaw. The teeth point forward, Secondly, the saw is so cheap it doesn't cut in either direction! I threw the saw out and bought a replacement locally.

Wonderful!
5 Star Review   By ordy1 on Home Depot - May 7, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Very accurate. I can't afford a power saw, and I'll only use this thing a few times a year, but I needed accurate cuts on the few boards I needed to cut. This saved me money, and all my cuts were perfect! The saw is quick and sharp, and my angles were all perfect. Not for the professional, for sure, but for the guy or gal who only needs to make miter cuts once in a while. it is great!

this saw is perfect for you if 1. your budget is tight 2. you only have a few pieces to cut 3. you do not have a friend that owns a lot of tools so you can borrow a electric saw. ;)

Woked well
4 Star Review   By renh on Home Depot - Apr 30, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This product worked very well for the small, 1-room project I was working on. I didn't want to invest a lot of money into a tool that I would only use once, maybe twice. So it is definitely worth it for small projects.

Good Cut
4 Star Review   By Tuna on Home Depot - Apr 21, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This was my christmas present and so far so good for me. I have cut trim and 2x4's and the saw cuts it like butter. For the price this is a great deal for a hobbyist like myself.

Simple, gets the job done
4 Star Review   By MizGr33nEyez on Home Depot - Feb 8, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Bought this because I needed something to cut quarter round for a laminate floor -- this did the job. I don't do too terribly much home improvement work so did not want to invest in an expensive saw. Almost bought a cheaper one, that didn't have the "holder pegs" -- so glad I went with this one instead - I don't know how I could've done it without those! I think the cuts would've been a bit more precise with a power mitre saw, but for this little job, this was fine. And it's light weight and the pegs & saw attach to the box so it'll be easy to store away.

But I'll still give it a good review. The cost was right. It worked for the project I bought is for and hardly shows any wear! That means it will last through MORE PROJECTS!

Good value for the cost.
3 Star Review   By Txaggie78 on Home Depot - Sep 26, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

The miter box could be made out of a bit heavier plastic. So lightweight it's difficult to keep still. It works best for small trim pieces, etc. Odd shaped wood is difficult to keep stationary due to the slippery surface of the "clamps" The saw stop/guide to prevent saw from cutting into miter box is a great feature.

Garbage
1 Star Review   By fieriee on Home Depot - Jul 18, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This product is worthless. It has no clamps or pins to hold the wood in place, and the saw is dull with jagged little teeth that face in opposing directions. No matter where you put it, what you put it on, how you position it, who helps you, you will not end up with a straight, smooth cut.

A good miter box for the price.
4 Star Review   By Robert on Home Depot - Jul 10, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

You get what you pay for and for the price, this miter box does an excellent job for small jobs. What makes this box superior over the Buck Brothers is the built in honey comb clamps. This feature holds the wood very well and helps in getting clean accurate cuts. I recommend that you use both clamps. Don't think you can get away with using only one and holding the other end. You have two clamps, so use them. It helps a lot. I would have given this box five stars but the saw is too short. It is 12 inches. The Buck Brothers is 14 inches. You could use the two extra inches. But the Buck Brothers does not have the built in clamps and this is why the Stanley is superior.

Great saw and box combination
4 Star Review   By Jeff on Home Depot - Jul 3, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I used my miter box and saw to cut baseboard molding. The keeper pegs worked great...like having an extra hand to hold the molding inplace and ensure accurate 45-degree cuts even when the molding was on edge. The box sides are tall enough for cutting 2.5" tall molding. Darn good price too.

The box and the saw work well but the saw shaves off a lot of the slits of the box at 45 degrees.

A Life Saver
5 Star Review   By DIGGLES on Home Depot - Dec 2, 2008    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I had read the reviews of this miter box before buying this at my local Home Depot. This product work GREAT!!! The complaints of the small size of the saw and the plastic box not holding up concerned me prior to my purchase. This made excellent cuts. The saw size was just right. Making small strokes made the cuts more precise. I would HIGHTLY recommened this product for any one with some small home projects!!! GL......

Very weak product
1 Star Review   By BrooklyEddie on Home Depot - Jan 8, 2008    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Being a DIYer I bought it for the price - WARNING, you get what you pay for. My project called for doing crown moulding thru my entire house. This cheap product may have had 3 or 4 clean, staight cuts before the plastic starting swaying and falling apart. Very weak material. The saw was fine until after about the 10th cut. I quickly got frustrated and went out and bought a miter saw - should've done this in the first place.

Cheap but works
4 Star Review   By ZGamer on Home Depot - Dec 28, 2007    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Does the job but a pain to use. Saw blade stayed sharp after 50-60 cuts. Blade is short, requiring a lot of effort to cut the boards. The plastic is weak causing bowing when cutting. Overall you get what you pay for, good for a small project but look at a real compound miter saw if your looking for over 30 cuts.

Get's the job done
4 Star Review   By kv12345 on Home Depot - Aug 2, 2007    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because it's manual! It works perfectly as long as you don't have unusual angles to cut or large pieces of wood.

For the price, it's unbeatable!
4 Star Review   By MightyMatt on Home Depot - Mar 10, 2007    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Having previously used wooden mitre boxes I have been pleasantly surprised by this plastic design. A lip across the top of the supplied saw prevents damage to the box itself. It is also easy to anchor to a work bench, and the honeycomb pins really perform brilliantly! It won't cut as cleanly as a $100+ machine, but for less than $20 dollars it is excellent!

Good for basic use
4 Star Review   By OHTool on Home Depot - Jan 23, 2007    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This is a good alternative for buying a miter saw for $100+, which you don't really need unless you are doing a lot of cutting. At the price it is, the miter box and saw serves its purpose. It is a little bit of work to cut, but again it all depends on how many cuts you will do. For basic use, it allows a fairly precise cut. The saw is decent, not great, and the pegs that come with the box do their job of holding what you are cutting (they are slighty oval and allow fine tuning to hold everything firm). In short: if you need limited cutting, this is a good compromise.

Best Saw for Everyday Projects
5 Star Review   By ToolGal on Home Depot - Dec 6, 2006    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Very reasonably priced, well crafted for its purpose, and extremely easy to use. You'll find you'll use this saw more than you might think. It's perfect to have on hand for several building projects, and great for work too.

OK, but can be better
3 Star Review   By HB42 on Home Depot - Dec 1, 2006    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Works OK, but requires more work than necessary due to the shortness of saw. Too many strokes required for cutting relatively small pieces of wood. Haven't been able to get perfect 45 degree angles for door and window framing, but they are adequate. Honeycomb for locking wood in with pins works well. May need to find some way to tie them to the box so as not to lose them. This product is OK for the price.

deluxe miter box with saw
4 Star Review   Home Depot    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Great product, easy to use , and that is very important for a first time user. I set it down on my front steps and cut the wood to frame my front door. It was very easy to trim the one piece of wood that was a smidgeon too long. Measure twice, cut once is definitely true! And the cutting is a piece of cake with this miter box.
