Laser Adjustment
5 Star Review   By MikeinOhio on Home Depot - Jun 16, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I bought my saw yesterday, and immediately noticed what other reviewers have said about the laser accuracy. This one, in my opinion isn't bad. After adjustment, my lines are still off maybe a sixteenth of an inch on each side, but for precise cuts, I like to sneak up on the length. After my first three cuts, I was able to predict the actual cut line pretty well. Laser line accuracy on this saw is not a major shortcoming. As received, my laser lines were off more on one side than the other. There is a small T-10 Torx screw on the handle that allows for a side-side adjustment, but it moves both lines at the same time, and there is no way to narrow the distance between the lines. I was able to center the laser lines, but once I moved beyond that point, one of the lines started to get faint and disappear. The other features on this saw are as advertised. The saw is sturdy, but not too heavy to lift. There is a handle on the back, which along with the blade handle, makes the saw easy to pick up and move. This is a lot of saw for the price.

Great out of the box
5 Star Review   By hawksfan05 on Home Depot - Apr 17, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Love this product. Have had three saws previous and this one has given me no trouble. Perfect out of the box. The laser is not so good but I have figured out how to get around it. Dust collection could be better but not a deal breaker.

More than Satisfactory
4 Star Review   By JBTOkie on Home Depot - Apr 4, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I've now had my saw approximately two months, used it half a dozen times including both the miter and bevel and have had no problems - and have been very satisfied. And the slider? Smooth as glass. Yes, the laser is off maybe a sixteen of an inch, but rather than attempt to adjust, I just made note of where it cut and adjust myself. And still the laser has been quite helpful. I made a picture frame spot on, have used it with 4x4s and yard timbers, just built a ramp for the elderly, took a stab at crown molding with success, and have been completely satisfied so far. Time will tell, but I did quite a bit of research, and for the money vs. what was offered, felt this the best deal going I could find. Have not been disappointed so far.

This saw is the best.
5 Star Review   By Noname on Home Depot - Apr 2, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Right out of the box it was ready to go. Checked some settings as per the instructions but did not have to adjust anything. Plenty of power and all the angles are true anmd prcise, I wish I had this 2 years ago,. the only downside is the dust collection could be a little better, even with a vac attached it doesn't get all the saw dust, but with the way everything else works I don't have a problem sweeping a little. The lasers are spot on.

By far the easiest miter saw to use
5 Star Review   By DMSCONSTRUCTION on Home Depot - Mar 16, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This saw is hands down the most simple to use. no more reaching over to the back of the saw to set the bevel cuts. All levers and buttons are in the front making for faster adjustments. The motor starts out slow and in a few seconds reaches its max speed. This stops any jerky movements that cause problems when cutting a very small piece. my only complaint is it should come with at least a 60 tooth blade. Not a 40.

Excellent Slidder
5 Star Review   By StopWithTheStupidSyntaxLi on Home Depot - Feb 19, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I have used miter saws of various types and brands for several years. I had decided on the 12" slidding compound DeWalt but then I saw this saw in the store and liked its features. I have a 10" dual bevel Porter Cable saw that I retrofitted a laser guide on that I have loved but lacked the capacity of a slidding saw. Being a slidder this saw takes care of the problem and I love the work light and dual lasers which makes cutting right or left of the blade much easier. I mounted it on their gravity stand and it is a jewel too. This is an excellent rig with nearly the same capacity [on a practical level the same] as a 12" and far better features. Very well designed. The only thing I have changed is the blade as I demand untra smooth cuts so I put a 96 tooth ultra fine finish blade on it and it is working very well. Highly recommended!

As a home handyman I love this saw
5 Star Review   By smathy on Home Depot - Jan 5, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I love this saw, yes - as other reviewers have noted the lasers are wider than the kerf and sometimes need adjusting from the factory. Maybe I don't have the experience to know any better, but I just did some practice cuts before relying on the laser position and adjusted my expectations based on where the cut was relative to the laser. At least the lasers are WIDER than the kerf, so you can always second-cut if you've left too much on your first cut. The lasers were visibile outside for me (not in full sunlight, but who wants to leave their saw in full sunlight all day?) and easy to align and use. The saw was (relatively) quiet and cut straight and easily every time. Not a big deal because it's easy to add later, but having the Diablo blade as standard equipment is awesome. It's an amazing blade and made short work of my fossilized bamboo. The sawdust bag gets caught when sliding the saw sometimes, but I had hooked up a vac pretty soon after starting my project anyway.

Good Features, bad laser light
4 Star Review   By Stockmarketbob on Home Depot - Dec 30, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

The saw has great features, and one very bad. Pros: Great soft start motor, no kick up, sound is quieter and smoother than all others in it's class. The sliding mechanism is the smoothest in the class. You can push this saw forward with a feather. The Ridgid's dust collection is about 30%, about par for this kind of saw. Front lock mechanism needed a slight adjustment, (easily done) to remove some play. Cons: Laser light not visible outside. Left laser light right on, initially. Right laser light off about 3/16" and could not be adjusted to be correct. Left laser light not visible at all after one month of use, inside or outside. Summation: If the Ridgid followed a competitor's LED light system, you would have a nearly perfect saw. Unfortunately it's a huge disadvantage not having a light system that works. If you don't need or care about the light system, then this is the saw to get. For me, I'll keep looking.

This product is a huge dissapointment!
1 Star Review   By will on Home Depot - Dec 26, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

have many ridgid power tools and this one just does not make the grade at all. I give it an F.......it is comparable in quality to a Ryobi. hate to say that but is the truth. The fence on it is not true has a warping issue from the factory. as well as the lasers went out after about 12 cuts!!! so not happy with this and am wondering if I should even continue to buy Ridgid tools.....?

Ready, Set, Cut
5 Star Review   By Dennis on Home Depot - Dec 21, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Picked this one up today, the shortest day of the year. With lots of cuts to get in before dark, it was nice to pull this thing out of the box and find that everything is zeroed in and ready ti use. The lasers seemed clise enough, but I don't depend on those for accurate cuts on any of my saws. Besudes being smooth and accurate, I like the soft start, miter/bevels controls at the front, the LED worklight, the work piece clamp, power cord hooks and evrything locks down so it's easily carried. Oh and it came with my favorite brand if blades, the Diablo. I like it.

Fantastic
5 Star Review   By Mattsworld on Home Depot - Nov 10, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I dont have much to compare this Miter Saw to, but I can tell you I've went through 3 seperate saws within the past month. This ends the search. As a new homeowner, I was looking for a very good quality miter saw, but nothing I was going to go out and make a living with. I started with a Ryobi 10" miter(pawn shop), which just did not fit the bill in regards to quality. Next, I couldn't pass up on on a sale for the kobalt 10" sliding miter. Squaring the fense was incredibly difficult and the laser was nothing more than a laser that put a line randomly down on wood. it was approx .25" off. After using it for a weekend, it made an easy job somewhat hard and just wasn't what I was looking for, so I took it back. Went to Home Depot and took advantage of Veterans weekend sale and bought this sliding miter. What a difference. It's night and day. The quality is exactly what I was after and my cuts were square right out of box. Laser seems dead on and no adjustments have needed to be made. Again, I've only had this saw for a couple days, but I can confidently say it is top notch. I'm not sure another saw could offer me anything else I would need.

Not for the professional
2 Star Review   By Floorman on Home Depot - Nov 6, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This saw is not for the professional who needs precise cuts . Laser is not accurate and the one I bought was off 1/8 inch on a 12 inch stair tread. Took it back and spent the extra 200.00 for the the yellow one.Don't know if I purchased a lemon but not impressed with this saw .

Great for everyday use
5 Star Review   By Zeke on Home Depot - Oct 17, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Loved this saw out of the box. I found the clamp was a little hard to remove until I realized it has a cam lock in it. Once I twisted it correctly, it came right out. Had to remember to remove the upper and lower fences for full bevel capacity. Love the adjustable bevel lock feature but it takes some getting used to. Watched a youtube video for help. Then called customer service, they really understand the product and use of the bevel lock adjustment. The blade has stayed sharp after 2 months of weekend use. I love it!

Nice saw but watch out for the laser
3 Star Review   By John on Home Depot - Aug 29, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This is a nice quality saw with good features for the money. There is one deal breaking problem that caused me to return it and get a refund. The width between the double line laser beams is not adjustable and the distance is wider that the kerf of the saw blade. This means that it can only be aligned at one time to either the left laser line or the right. This negates the ability to flip crown, etc. and make quick on the fly cuts from left to right without re-adjusting the laser sight. This essentially renders the laser sight useless for practical purposes. Otherwise it is a nice saw. I especially like the front bevel control. I had a ripped dust bag and a crooked lower blade guard upon unpacking the saw from the box. I called customer service and they answered immediately and sent replacement parts no questions asked. The representative was very knowledgeable about the saw and was very honest about the laser shortcomings. She indicated that Ridgid was aware of the problem and that it would be corrected in future production runs, but a fix would not likely be available to current saw owners. As a result, I decided to return the saw for a refund. I cannot say enough about Ridgid's great customer service! If the laser sight is not a big feature for you, then this is a great saw for the money.

Just not impressed
3 Star Review   By Tano on Home Depot - Jul 30, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I was not impressed with this saw which unfortunately is starting to be my reaction to some of the newer Ridgid power and cordless tools. I am guessing this smaller sliding compound miter saw is replacing the 12” model as far as what the NY and NJ stores are carrying. Let me give you my first impression of the saw. When I took it out of the box it just seemed to have a cheap feel to it. Not at all in the league of the 12” slider Ridgid sells. There so much bulk with the handle configuration, however it did not feel substantial. It just seemed to be made to look beefy. The slides were a bit stiff on my saw, which isn’t surprising and will more than likely loosen up after use. The hold down clamp that is provided was fine and is better than you get with a lot of other saws. I had a tough time loosening the compound lock similar to another reviewer. The two LED lights in the handle are nice, which is part of the reason the handle is so wide. The laser was ok but I don’t rely on a laser and had not tested it for accuracy, so I can’t comment on that perspective. Overall it just felt like a cheaper saw, and for 400 bucks that is unacceptable. My reason for purchasing this model was to downsize from my Dewalt DW718 12” slider, to save some room in my small shop. This version caught my eye being 100 dollars cheaper than the similar sized Dewalt 10” slider, but that 100 dollar difference really showed itself. I was just plain disappointed overall and retuned this and bought the 10” dewalt which is a superior saw and worth the extra money. If this saw were 100 dollars less, I would have felt it was a good value for the money. Over the years I have owned a fair amount of Ridgid and Dewalt tools, but I have found myself going back to Dewalt more and more with no regrets. Ridgid seems to have lost their way a bit and now you are no longer getting the higher tool quality at a lower price. You seem to be getting a lower quality tool supported by a longer warranty. I don’t care about a lifetime service agreement if it takes 8 weeks to fix the tool, I would rather it didn’t break at all and I never need the warranty.

Frustrating
2 Star Review   Home Depot    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Back to the store for a replacement and I haven't even plugged the saw in. It appears the Chinese factory doesn't test these out thoroughly, mine would not tilt regardless of the levers (I even watched a YouTube instructional video), it was jammed solid. Finally out of desparation I loosened one of the back bolts to get the bevel to move, and despite tightening again, the thing will now not hold bevel in place. This is not a good sign of assembly quality. A $400 piece of junk paperweight.

Nice Saw
4 Star Review   By luv2bbq on Home Depot - Jun 26, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I really like this saw. It seems to be pretty accurate and very easy to make setup adjustments for each cut. We built a two story deck with this saw and it worked great. It did slow down a bit with the larger size lumber (4x12x12) as many saws do, but with a good blade, it worked just as good and the higher price 10” miter saws I have used in the past.

First started with a craftsmen and returned it next day because a rough slide track and it needed alot of adjustments. When unpacked the saw the first thing that caught my attention was that this saw came with a Freud Diablo Saw blade. After setting this on the Ryobi Miter Saw Stand I was really impressed to discover that it was out-of-box trued. Made several test cuts various angles and wow, no adjustments needed. The soft start is great, lasers and LED light fantastic, and the slide track smooth and solid. Wish I bought this set up sooner!
