It does adjust to 24" cut!
5 Star Review   Home Depot    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Needed a compact, light, quality table saw. This one fit the bill nicely. There are so many negative reviewers talking about the fence only adjusting to 16", but I noticed they are older reviews. So maybe previous models only went to 16". I can tell you the newest model I just purchased can go all the way to 24". It has a scale to 20", but it CAN go to 24" and there is even a very small ridge on the bottom of the black fence locks to set it to 24" EVERY time without having to move/use the preset allen allignment screws. If you want a cut between 20-24" you would have to set that cut up with a tape/scale. One other thing, the miter guage is JUNK! It has at least 1/8 inch of play side to side in the table slot. Other than the miter guage, this saw is absolutely phenominal!

Great Table Saw
5 Star Review   By RangeRider on Home Depot - Apr 23, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This saw does just what I wanted it to. Easy to set-up and easy to use. I have never used a table saw before, but after reading the manual I have been able to do all I wanted to and even more. I did purchase the optional stand which, makes it even easier to move from site to site without having to look for something of suitable height to sit it on.

Great saw, but beware...
3 Star Review   By Kick44 on Home Depot - Apr 11, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I bought it for the compact light weight and good quality, HOWEVER, I just found out IT CANNOT USE A DADO SET. They don't make a wide throat plate for this model because the shaft isn't long enough to accomodate a dado set. You have to get the 744 model for that. The product description makes no mention of this fact, and it should. For that reason, I give it an "Average" rating, even though the overall quality is excellent.

Wonderful product.
5 Star Review   By Dave on Home Depot - Apr 2, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I received this as a gift from my wife. It is very simple to use. The fence out of the box was almost a perfect parallel to the saw blade and took a second to adjust. Though I'm only doing small project with it, it's up to task. the fence adjustment is simple. The fine adjust is spot on, the safety features are easy to use. I really can't find any fault with the saw. The saw is as described in the product description and for the extra $$$ over some similar items it's worth every penny. My favorite feature is the rack and pinion fence adjustment, I never have to worry that my cuts will be out of square. It's size also makes it easy to store. Love it, highly recommended.

Great job site saw!
5 Star Review   By diy716 on Home Depot - Feb 16, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This is a great Job Site saw! Very easy to get it up and running right out of the box. Makes good cross cut and rip cuts even with the "ok" 24 tooth blade it came with. Con the manual has been updated to state "Dado blades are NOT recomended for this model" even though the dado thoat plate is still sold for it.

5 Star Review   By Willy on Home Depot - Feb 12, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

My employer, a general building contractor, has purchased several table saws for us (his crew) to use & this is by far the best. After 2 Makita 10" job saws w/stands, this DeWalt w/out a stand is still far superior. Fence accuracy & general usefulness is fantastic, plus a push stick mounted to the side of the fence is a great safety feature. The only thing I miss is the electric brake the Makita has. I had to own one of these DeWalts myself.

Compact high quality and just right for me
5 Star Review   By hockeynut on Home Depot - Dec 15, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I am a DIY homeowner and have in the last year bought and used a LOT of tools, both cordless and benchtop, and been doing a lot of learning and projects. I have a small workshop so wanted a compact table saw to replace a 7 year old Craftsman. My old saw works very well, but is big and bulky, hard to move from the workshop to the back porch or anywhere else. The DeWalt DW745 and one other portable (different manufacturer) met the basic specs, quality and price range. I chose the DeWalt because of the really convenient rip fence (and the price was a lot lower when I was ready to buy it). I agree with all the other strongly positive reviews. Everything is easy - removing the blade guard and anti-kickback pawl and storing them on the saw, removing and replacing the blade was easy, the crank for raising and lowering the blade height is incredibly smooth, and the saw cuts very accurately. I really like the rack and pinion rip fence. My old saw's rip fence works well, but you have to measure and wiggle it to make sure it is parallel to the blade. This one you just set and run with it. The saw will store on one side, the left side, and it is easy to carry with two hands, or with one. However, it also is easy to put on a little Magna Cart hand cart and wheel it wherever I need it. I didn't get the stand. Instead I am building a small table from 2x2, 1x4 and a small sheet of plywood I had in my scrap pile. The table will be useful for other stuff too, while the stand would be only for the saw. Several notes to add to the other reviews: 1. I got a Diablo 50 tooth combination blade which cuts a lot smoother than the one that comes with the saw. Be careful to only use blades that meet the minimum kerf spec (0.094"). Some of the high end thin kerf blades are actually too thin for the riving knife. 2. The vacuum port is 2.5" outside diameter, and 2 1/4" inside diameter. I have a cheap Stanley shop vac with a 1 1/4 outside diameter hose, so found a 2 1/4 to 1 1/4 adapter that works perfectly (got it at Rockler). My first try at this was the wrong size on both ends, so make sure you have the right one for your vacuum. 3. I know the spec says max rip width is 16" but my saw came with a 20" scale on it and the rip fence actually does go out to 20". This beats the other model I was considering which is advertised as 18" max. Hmm...go figure. These smaller saws don't have built in outfeed extensions. That would be a nice addition, but not crucial. I am totally happy with this saw, and very happy about now having the extra space in my workshop.

Works as designed
5 Star Review   By JWWII on Home Depot - Dec 5, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I needed a small table saw for occasional use that had modern safety features to replace a larger, aging saw. I found this DeWalt model to work as advertised. It is well designed and easy to use. Clearly it has plenty of power for anything I will do with it. I especially appreciate that it is small and light enough that I can store it on a shelf in the shop and place it on a table for occasional use when needed. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that when a vacuum is connected to the sawdust port, the clean up after used is considerably reduced, allowing for more freqent indoor use that I had been doing with my old saw.

very nice saw
5 Star Review   By Shadetree on Home Depot - Dec 4, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I like it. This is great for me because it is light and easy to store. I do not have a shop, so I have to use my garage and put it away after using it. It is accurate enough for general carpentry. I would not think it would be good for fine jointery. I am disappointed that you should not use dado blades

This is a really great saw. I did notice however that it is off by 1/16, check your measurements on the blade before you cut. Otherwise; great purchase.

Great Saw
4 Star Review   By Jasalvo on Home Depot - Nov 21, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I'm a homeowner that always seems to find that next project. The saw seems very durable and i expect it to last like all my other quality tools. My favorite feature is the rip fence. This is by far the best fence i've ever used thanks to the rack and pinnion gears. The adjustment lever makes life so much easier. You can make very small adjustments quickly. I knocked one point off for the plastic miter guage. I definitly recommend this saw to anyone who is looking for a quality portable table saw.

Great little saw!
5 Star Review   By DIYer on Home Depot - Nov 5, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

With a pending laminate floor project, I was shopping around a for decent table saw that would not be too expensive. After considering the used route, my wife finally convinced me to spend the money on a new one. Although my use/need for a table saw is very low, having one available after this project was a nice thought as I always end up borrowing one or use a rip guide on circular saw for those periodic projects that always seem to pop up. So we made our rounds to a couple box stores, with the last stop at HD. Once comparing the little things like the rip fence, I just could not buy one of those cheaper models as I hate poor quality. And once I made my first cut, I was a believer as this saw out box cut straight and was a breeze to use. I really like the fine adjustment for the rip fence along with having built in storage for the the little tools. A bonus is the built in dust port that allows for a direct attachement of a 2.5 inch shop vacuum. And for those who have cut laminate, it can make a huge mess with all the fine dust... but with vac on and attached, dust was very minimal. Overall a great purchase and well worth the extra hundred dollars over the cheaply built alternatives.

Fantastic Saw
5 Star Review   By Rich on Home Depot - Aug 6, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I did a lot of research before purchasing this saw. I was purchasing it because I was attempting to install a laminate floor. After doing my research, I decided to spend more money and buy the DeWalt. Amazing. Straight rips cuts; fantastic locking fence mechanism; precise miter; my shop vac connects to the dust exhaust port. Simply put; this saw is worth the money.

Great tool for any workshop.
5 Star Review   By REDNERD on Home Depot - Jul 31, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

It is easy to setup and use. The default blade is a "starter" blade. Get something better for smoother cuts. I bought the diablo 80 tooth blade for the finer cuts and left the default blade for rougher cuts. I like the fact that it's pretty light for what it is and i can easily move it to the different project sites. I just did a flooring project with this saw with the 80 tooth diablo blade and it was very easy to get my cuts exactly as i wanted them, cuts were smooth and fast. I like that it easily connects to my shop vac as well with a standard vent. Great tool for a workshop.

Small but good
4 Star Review   By Nick on Home Depot - Apr 23, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I have owned quite a few table saws in my life and this one is the best small sized one I have used yet. The capacities are not huge, but its a compact saw, so that's to be expected. I didnt realize it didnt take a full width Dado until I read these reviews, so I knocked a point off for that. The blade isn't great, but that's a replaceable item. What I really like about it is the size and weight. I have a larger "jobsite" saw that takes two people to move it around the job and set it up. That saw is great for large pieces and you can do more with it, but I imagine most of the basic work will be done on this saw. Size is everything when you need to load it on a truck. The roll cage looks like it can handle some abuse as well. Time will tell...

DeWalt seems to only make the best stuff around... power tools & saws are virtually indestructable! I just added the compact table saw to my collection. Well made handles & materials. Don't be cheap and buy inferior tools, stick with the best... DeWalt.

Terrific for the price
5 Star Review   By RobFromPA on Home Depot - Apr 17, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This saw was ready to go out of the box. I did change the blade to an 80 tooth as most of my projects are small and detailed. The rip fence is very accurate and stays true even after many cuts. The miter guage is a little loose, but is manageable. Cuts very well. Sure beats the old Craftsman I had. I recommend this saw for any weekend DIYer.

4 Star Review   By Brad on Home Depot - Mar 27, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

The unit is light enough in weight that I can move it around and seems to cut well. I have used it several times and have no problems so far. If it lasts and performs well over the next several years then it will be a superior product.

A Quality Portable Table Saw
4 Star Review   By Henricus on Home Depot - Mar 6, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This is a quality portable table saw with tight adjustments that are right on the money. However, don't expect to have a full size table saw, it is what it is. You won't be able to use a Dado. If you want to cut a sheet of plywood, you'll have to setup an extension and make sure your little table saw is fixed and not movable. That said, it is a great little saw that you can carry with you and do most little things around the house. Well worth having, even if you have a full size table already.

Portable and precise
5 Star Review   By Bratan on Home Depot - Feb 21, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I'm very new to woodworking and this is my second table saw. I've upgraded to it from a really cheap one and difference is incredible. I love everything about it. It's portable and fairy light. I can just carry it from basement to outside and work on fresh air. Setup takes just a minute or two. It feels very solid and screams quality. This saw has great dust management with port for vacuum. It no longer leaves mess that my previous saw did. I love sliding fence and how precise it is. It has both inches and millimeters. However it would be great if they included 1/16" scale. Tool storage and cord management are also very useful. Throat plate is easy to remove and install and mechanism that allows changing position of riving knife is easy to use. I no longer have to risk getting my wrist slit while trying to reach for it's release handle (like on my previous saw). Both anti-kickback pawl and guard are easy and quick to remove and attach, although guard can't be removed without raising blade pretty high (minor annoyance). I picked it up in the store and out of the box only thing I had to adjust was height of the throat plate (it wasn't flush, and first piece of wood got caught in it). Noise wise it's pretty loud (like my previous saw). When on the table or workbench it's stable and doesn't move or vibrate. I used it to make some boxes and it was sufficiently precise for my purpose (even tho people say it's not for cabinet making). Overall I'm extremely satisfied with this saw and will highly recommend it! I just wish it was $100 cheaper :)

Lightweight, efficient, true cutting

This is an excellent lightweight portable saw, only downfall is it won't accept dado blades. Perfect for most carpentry jobs at home or on job site

Great product and easy to use. Used it initially for cutting laminate flooring which it did with ease. I would recommend to anyone looking for a smaller table saw.

Awesome saw
5 Star Review   By Justin on Home Depot - Nov 8, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I'm the installation manager for a flooring store and needed a new table saw to use around the warehouse and on jobs i install. Bought this saw after comparing to the many options between home depot and lowes. The saw seems very durable and i expect it to last like all my other quality tools. My favorite feature is the rip fence. This is by far the best fence i've ever used. It sits on 2 studs and came dead on with the measurements from the tape measure that is on the saw. The adjustment lever makes life so much easier. You can make very small adjustments quickly. I definitly recommend this saw to anyone who is looking for a quality portable table saw.

Great Saw!
5 Star Review   By BJ10 on Home Depot - Sep 25, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Used this saw for cutting engineered flooring and with the Diablo 94 Toothed Laminate Blade, this tool peformed like saws of much higher quality. This is a great saw not only for the DIY people but I believe it has a place in the commercial work arena

great saw
5 Star Review   By Meriwether983 on Home Depot - Aug 26, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This is my first table saw and so far I love it! I haven't tried to do anything too fancy yet with it, but I can see myself eventually upgrading to a bigger and better one. The only downside to this one is you can't put dado blades in it, but that's farther down the road for me. The saw works great and I love the adjustable rip fence.

Very pleased with this saw
5 Star Review   By Larobee on Home Depot - May 22, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Very happy with this purchase. I don't have the room for a larger saw and this one is very compact. Light weight too, which makes it easy to lug out of the shed each time i use it. Cuts straight and true and the fence was dead on right out of the box.

Cuts the mustard. And hardwood. And treated lumber
5 Star Review   By Ferloogy on Home Depot - Sep 17, 2010    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I don't need a portable table saw, so I made a 1 x 10 (two of them) adapter for my non-DeWalt economical stand. The mounting holes on the frame of the DW745 are angled 45 degrees, probably to encourage one to buy a DeWalt stand. So, I drilled into the wood through the mounting holes for perfect 45 degree angles. Next, I cut and drilled 45 degree blocks to accept 1/4" washers, nuts, and bolts underneath the boards in order to quash any play in the mounting. Works fine, and no $ spent on an expensive stand. I'll inspect the wood blocks for movement after some usage. I checked out the angles for the blade, rip fence, and miter gauge with a Wixey WR 400 digital protractor. No surprises: Everything except the 3/4" miter gauge was dead on 90 degrees (accurate to 0.1 degree) as shipped. Fine for cabinet work (with a better miter gauge). The whole unit is a well-thought out design. There's a rack and pinion for moving the rip fence rails with its scale. It's easy to set and dead-on accurate. Allowing for the 1/16" blade waste side of a cut is a snap, although I still measure with a ruler at times. The bevel adjustment is well-balanced, and the scale is as accurate as the eyeball used to set it. The riving knife and blade guard are refreshingly smooth and unobtrusive. The kickback device's springs are at just the right tension. They don't leave marks that can be hard to sand away in soft wood. The DeWalt motor and included blade don't labor at all in fairly dense wood--it cuts 1" poplar and maple like a guillotine through warm butter. If my mother wanted a saw I'd buy her this one.

This saw does it's job and does it well. Plenty of power, good accuracy and very portable to say the least. Oh, and rugged too!

Great portable saw
5 Star Review   By faldoc on Home Depot - Dec 11, 2009    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I got this on Black Friday for $300. It is portable, accurate, easy to adjust. The fence is so easy to use, and maintains it's parallel to the blade thanks to the rack and pinion. The height adjustment is smooth, and the anti-kickback works well. The blade guard is good, and detaches (as does the anti-kickback device) and stores in the side of the saw. An included push stick stores on the right side of the fence. The rollcage is very protective of the plasticky base. I found the included 24 tooth blade to be quite good with reasonable smoothness on the ripped lumber. I have cut 1x8 and 2x8 Western red cedar, pine 2x4s and 1/8" thin mahogany on it with no problems, and I am impressed with it's accuracy. The specs say it has a 16 inch right sided rip capacity but I think you can get a couple of more inches with repositioning the set screws of the fence. The miter gauge slot is not T slot. A nice bonus in my materials was a postcard for a free 50 tooth 10" DeWalt finishing blade. Thanks, DeWalt! I would buy it again and recommend it highly.

Dewalt 10" Compact Job Site Table Saw
3 Star Review   By LennyBoy on Home Depot - Apr 8, 2008    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

When I purchased this product, I loved the small footprint, light weight, outstanding fence and portability. After bringing the product home, I was quickly disappointed by the blade as it was very dull and produced a fuzzy finish on the cut. The demo model at the store had a similarly dull blade. In all fairness to DeWalt Customer Service, they did offer to replace the blade with a similar blade, however, since it would be the same quality as the blades that had already been used, I declined. When the blade was replaced with a quality thin kerf ripping blade, it cut exceptionally well. I hoped that with its standard miter slots, it would work with some of my existing jigs. Unfortunately, the tolerances for the miter slots were sloppy and did not work as hoped. I would highly recommend this saw to anyone who simply wanted to rip lumber less than 16 inches wide and was willing to purchase a premium rip blade. I would not recommend this saw if you're looking for anything more. Eventually, I returned the product.

lightweight and easy to use.
5 Star Review   By BoxBuilder on Home Depot - Mar 16, 2008    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I'm not a pro carpenter, just a car audio/home repair do it yourselfer and needed something that was easy to transport and didn't take up alot of storage room. The home depot sales guy kept telling me to get the ryobi, but I knew better from buying the worst jigsaw ever made by ryobi. This is my first table saw and I'm impressed with the quality and how easy it is to use. My favorite feature is the vaccum hookup. I can saw indoors with very little saw dust escaping. I sometimes wish the fence had more ripping capacity, but I knew it only did 16 inches before I bought it. Overall an excellent compact table saw.

Strengths: portable and easy to use

Weakness: the fence could be longer, and a catch bag could be nice

great saw this thing will do some serious cutting.if the fence could be add for longer piece it could be great all around saws. and it stores in a very narrow space
