Love everything about this table. Fairly easy to set up. Waxed the top to help stock slide easier. I have an old ryobi router I'm using for the table for now. No problem mounting the router to the plate. I happened to catch this table on sale for $135. Feel like I got an excellent deal. Very pleased.

Dose the job, works well
5 Star Review   By kdamen on Home Depot - Jun 3, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

it is good and works well dose the job, no issues there. however it is smaller then I expected, and a bit of a pain to tighten the router bit when using the table. also having it on a base with wheels like the table router would be nice ( I am sure that I can order that as a add on feature, but the product should list what base it is compatible with )

This table is built solid. Really glad I made the right choice I debated awhile on this. Glade I spent a little more and got a good quality item. Bosch's service dept. is great. The inserts that go around the router bit had some of the tangs broke off. I called and they sent me new ones asap.

Great router table for the price
5 Star Review   By BobC on Home Depot - Mar 6, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

My portable table saw motor burned out and it was more cost effective to replace the saw than fix the motor. Thus I also needed a replacement for the router table built into one of the extension wings. After much research I selected the Bosch. This table is solid, accurate, versatile and excellent value for the price. I mounted it to the old saw's wheeled base and am very happy with the results.

Good intermediate router table.
4 Star Review   By Matt on Home Depot - Jan 29, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I am quite satisfied with this purchase so far. I think it is a good product for the price. The construction quality is good and it is capable of a lot of adjustment. I do need to find a product to apply to the table face as the material does not slide very easily. I have a Milwaukee router that I attached to the table and I could not find anywhere that would tell me if my model would fit the table before I purchased it. In the end it did fit and the instruction manual does have my router listed in it but that would have been nice to find before I ordered it and sweated until I found out it would fit.

Bosch Router Table
4 Star Review   By Dusty on Home Depot - Dec 27, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I think the table is very well designed with the exception of the small tool storage compartment. Adjustments need to be made to this part so it does not continue to fall out of the slots. I also wish there was a opening for the cord so it can come out of the side near the cord storage area. Otherwise this is a great addition to my shop! The top is large and durable. The fence and guards are easy to adjust. Nice product. I mounted it to a plywood base framed in 1" x 3" slats that allows it to lock onto my Dewalt table saw stand. It is now totally portable.

Good tool
5 Star Review   By Gary on Home Depot - Aug 4, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Ordering & delivery perfect. Packaging intact. Seems solid. Nice sized table. My Porter Cable 891 fit easily. The inset table has 8 leveling screws - doing all 8 at once is wrestling an octopus. Level with only the 4 corners in then remove the screws noting the corner they are in. Then level with only the 4 middle screws. Put the 4 corners back in and you should be good to go.

quality table
4 Star Review   By harvester on Home Depot - Jul 31, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

The table took a couple of hours to put together but the instructions are clear. I installed the Bosch 1617 2.25a router in this table. I am new to routers, but this appears to be a good combination. As the instructions state, the table should be secured by the front legs to a workbench or something sturdy, as it will tend to tip over backwords when routing larger pieces (found out by experience).

Good all around.
5 Star Review   By alvin on Home Depot - May 9, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Purchased because I have a ton of cabinet doors to make and my old router table was very entry-level. This table assembled easily and feels sturdy and well contructed. It accepted my PC router without modification. I does take time to line-up all the fences and fingers for setup, but I can't see how you could simplify it further without compromising prescision. I've already run a bunch of stock through it and I am very happy with the results. This unit fills the gap nicely between the $100 tables and the $500+ pro tables. Two minor things of concern, the tool storage compartment on the side is flimsy and doesn't lock in place well, and for the same price a miter guide should have been included. Making it available for show and touch at the local HD wouldn't hurt either. Overall I can definitely recommend this unit for anyone who is trying to step-up their quality/quantity product.

Great quality router table!
5 Star Review   By GreenEngineer on Home Depot - May 1, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I read other reviews and liked the idea of a metal tabletop. Some amazon reviews warned of very unflat top but I checked mine and found only VERY MINOR out of flat (definitely not going to be a problem for my quality of work!). Price was higher than the other big box hardware store but hd beat their price by ten%. Takes awhile to get it all put together (maybe an hour or so) but the directions are excellent. Bolted right to my DeWalt router quick and easy. All adjustments are quick and easy with nice knobs and hardware (surprisingly US not metric threads). I purchased this to make tongue and groove paneling (against the fence). First try was perfect and I've never used a router table before. The included featherboards are great - lots of pressure holding the board down against the table top. I like the open bottom of this table - easier to access router than the enclosed type. I just attached to the top of my table saw with two C clamps. I used a standard shop-vac on the collection port which works really great - hardly any chips / dust got away (wear hearing protection it's LOUD), handy switch and outlets on table to turn on router and vacuum together (with a child resistant lockout). Overall super satisfied!!!

Good first router table
4 Star Review   Home Depot    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This is a step up from the Bosch router table that they have in stock at HomeDepot. The table is fairly hefty, although the legs are plastic. It seems sturdy enough for the type of work that I plan on doing. This is my first router and router table. I had looked at "fancy" tables from other makers, etc. and these were over $400.00! They seemed a little bit more sturdy, but not much more in the way of features or included accessories, such as the feather boards, etc. It does take about one hour to set up, of which the most time consuming part is leveling the router base plate. The switch plate seems a bit flimsy, but does seem to hold up to repeated use. Overall a good buy, and hope to get a lot of use out of it.

Great table, but one flaw to nitpick.
4 Star Review   By TChicago on Home Depot - Apr 24, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Setup is straightforward. Leveling the insert plate is the most tedious part, but no different from how any other table would work and you only have to do it once. I was impressed with the quality of both the tabletop and the fence. The fence is perfectly square and very robust and the adjustments it allows make for great stability workability. However: I have one criticism. Its small but critical: The insert rings that go in the center opening are made of thin plastic, and are not perfectly level with the router plate. This means that, when routing smaller pieces, they will dip ever so slightly, when going across it at the bit. If you are doing precision work, you will get a very slight dip in the profile you are routing. For larger pieces, this doesn't happen, as their size carries them across the insert just fine. Using the featherboards pretty much eliminates the problem for smaller work, but you'll want be pretty careful or invest in some after market insert discs. It's a little strange, since the rest of the table is so well thought out.

Nice sturdy table with some good features
4 Star Review   By marmoose on Home Depot - Oct 19, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

There is only one shortcoming. The attachment of a Bosch router to the many-holed mounting plate was much less than easy in determining which screws and holes to use. One would think that this would be more clearly explained per router model, and MARKED on the aluminum mounting plate. It was the most lengthy part of the assembly, and I am not sure even now that it is right. Even still, It is a great little table, and I am getting the kinks figured out.

Much better than the other versions available here
4 Star Review   By morninwood on Home Depot - Sep 8, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Product is good, once you wax the table with some furniture paste. Resolution of measuring lines could be greater- only marks every 8th of an inch. Makes it hard to get the fence perfectly straight. Could use one additional throat piece. Currently there are three, which seem to range from small (good for 1/2 or below bits), large- good for bits up to 2", very large (up to 2 1/2, and no throat piece. When using medium size bits, a lot of sawdust tends to fall down into the router. I like the 3 1/2 inch opening, but when using a raised panel bit, a lot of sawdust tends to fall down into the router. Overall, I'm much happier with this than the 99$ router table that is also offered.

A little getting used to but overall good product.
4 Star Review   By millsy on Home Depot - Jun 20, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I bought this after a week of reading different reviews. It's a good value for the cost. Not to tricky to put together. I bought this not realizing that Rigid routers were not listed as "compatible" with the Bosch plate. Turns out it is compatible (Rigid 2hp 1/2 inch). The plate did't take me that long to level. "You must do this to cut reliable results." Don't rely on measurement markings on table, they are only good for making sure the guard is true. Instead, I use a square for depth and a test piece for height. The only design flaw I have seen is in the right side of the plastic base. I had to notch out some of the base so the adjustable guide could be easily removed.

Excellent and Economical Router Table
5 Star Review   By soltc on Home Depot - May 16, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I've had my eye on the Bosch RA1181 for a while. Compared to the other brands (Bench Dog, Incra, Rockler, etc.), the RA1181 comes complete at a lower price. The table base is a sturdy plastic and the aluminum top is heavy and flat. The miter gauge slot fits standard gauges. I've ordered a Bosch router (R 1617EVSTB) which has a base made to mount in the table.

Bosch Benchtop Router Table RA1181
5 Star Review   By member allens777 - May 22, 2008

Strengths: The table is very sturdy, level, and smooth. It is obvious this is a quality product.

Weakness: Amount of plastic, table surface area.

Although this table has quite a bit of plastic in the table support it is still very sturdy. For best performance it should be bolted down to a solid surface. The legs have holes in them to allow for bolting down to a surface. My Porter-Cable router easily mounted to the table and adjustments are easy even though it would be nice to have more space underneath to adjust the router. The route fence and adjustment system is very good and allows for precision measuring. The included feather boards work well and are easy to use with the table. There is also a miter slot for a miter gauge which must be purchased separately. The vacuum system and chip deflector shield is a nice addition to this table. I had one missing nut and called Bosch customer service. They quickly sent out the entire hardware package that the nut was included in – no cost to me whatsoever. Overall and in consideration of the relatively low cost, I have been pleased and would make this purchase again.

Bosch RA1181 - Good Basic Router Table
4 Star Review   By member RWHeineman - Apr 24, 2008

Strengths: Good Construction. Sturdy base even though it's plastic. Fence and feather boards adjust smoothly. Accepts many different types of routers.

Weakness: Must be clamped/mounted to keep from moving. Space limited under table for bit changes. Table is relatively small.

I decided on the Bosch RA1181 as a starter router table and I'm pleased for the money spent. Construction is good for a plastic & aluminum build. The fence and feather boards adjust easily. Miter slots will take after market accessories. The plate accepts many common router brands/models. You need to mount or clamp the table to a solid surface or it will move while pushing stock but this is to be expected from a light guage table. Changing bits is a little cramped under the table but manageable. Overall I'm happy with my purchase. This is a good choice for a moderately priced, small scale router table.

Bosch Benchtop Router Table RA1181
5 Star Review   By member frankii - Dec 3, 2007

Strengths: Very useful tool and ease of operation

This table is very useful when you try to make accurate connections and cuttings. You would need to buy a separate Under-Table Router Base to use with this table. It comes with a Above-Table hex key; you can adjust the height without moving your router.

Quality Product
4 Star Review   By doggsale on Home Depot - Mar 20, 2007    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I just bought the table today and have a few comments. Commpared to the Ryobi Tables this one is far superior. The Feather boards are sterdy and strong. The plastic base looks cheap but is very stiff. My opinion having a large base to mount to a table beats the four point sheetmetal legs. Took me 1hr to assemble and I consider myself to be very mechanial, just a lot of hardware. Router plate is very strong and takes a few minutes to level up. The on off switch is small but in a beter location than the Ryobi. A very clever design. The Brush steel top is very corse and has alot of mass. The fense is made of an anodize extruded aluminum that is far superior to the Ryobi. It comes with a side comparment that stores all the extra hardware and most accesories. I would recommend this for the woodworker that wants something better than the a cheap "good value, good enough" version and the $900 Rockler "Superduper, do it all, digial, I want to be Norm Abram" version.
