Still working after 4 years
5 Star Review   By ReetiurednMN on Home Depot - Jun 7, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I've got this unit under an upper cabinet over the kitchen sink. I've had no problems with it other than one bulb burned out after a couple years and it was easy to replace.

The product works, but needs help
3 Star Review   By fishpotpete on Home Depot - Jun 2, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

When working, it's great. But as one of the other reviewers pointed out, there's a fuse inside the plug unit that can go out. That wouldn't be so bad, except they soldered the fuse to the circuit board. Personally, desoldering/resoldering a hardwired fuse is do-able - but why do I have to get out my soldering iron just to change a fuse? I replaced the entire unit last year (because I didn't know about the fuse) and it went out again this week - so they go about a year before the fuse blows for whatever reason. I'm going to try to wire mine up with fuse holder this time. Cool product that hampered by a design flaw. So I'll recommend this with reservations - you can't expect all of your customers to be able to do this kind of technical work and you shouldn't expect them to keep replacing the product - that gets expensive.

4 Star Review   By Phlacoe on Home Depot - May 20, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Before you complain about it not lasting long, open the plug module. Mine worked for about a year and then just died. Inside the plug module is a fuse. Replace it and it starts working again.

A simple plug-in replacement for my old, failed switching unit.
3 Star Review   By Winslow on Home Depot - Sep 26, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

The original box-like switching unit on my lights failed after less than a year. This unit is nearly identical in appearance. It was simple to unplug my old unit from the touch switch, the lights, and the wall power outlet and replace it with the new unit.

Very reliable Love the light they deliver
5 Star Review   By MichiganBob on Home Depot - May 13, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I installed 3 of these units powering top & bottom cabinet lights in our kitchen and family room bar when we built our house 4 years ago. In both areas they are on all evening as primary lighting for 4 to 6 hours a day depending on the season. The dimmer is very versatile and provides a great work area light at counter level with medium or high setting and a warm lower light for general area light at the low setting. The first dimmer failed yesterday when I was adding 4 more lights to the bar unit, as we had added another double cabinet. That brought that unit 12 watts over the 200 watt limit and when I plugged in the last lamp, out they went. That is a total of 10 lamps @ 20 watt each, (2) 6 watt rope lights under toe kick plus voltage drop probably puts it over 215-220 watts. In this case 200 watts means 200 watts. I will replace this single unit with 2 to get the operating level back into the mid-range for each dimmer. In this case I do not blame the dimmer or the manufacturer. I was pushing the envelope and lost. The oldest kitchen unit has been powering 10 lamps since before we moved in without so much as a hiccup. Periodically some of these will arbitrarily come on to the lowest setting but I attribute that to “dirty” power, as we live near the end of a rural power run. This is not too uncommon with “touch activated electronics” anyway, as by design and necessity, they are very sensitive. All of our units have performed well over the years and I will continue to use these. Hopefully the new ones will be as reliable as the old ones are.

You'll have to replace at least once a year.
2 Star Review   By jrbw on Home Depot - Feb 25, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Not sure what the problem is with these but I'm in agreement with the person who said they've had to replace the power supply once a year. We've had these five years and just replaced it for the fourth time. They look great but what a pain. There must be some fix for this that we're not aware of.

Can't live without
3 Star Review   By MrLonzo on Home Depot - Jan 24, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This is a product, once you have it, it's hard to live without it. I use it for my undercabinet kitchen lighting. Very convenient, light touch operation. It is a little pricey, but worse, you can't buy replacement parts -- You have to buy a whole new unit when any part fails. Unfortunately, there aren't many competing products on the market.

Great for under cabinets.
5 Star Review   By pacedo on Home Depot - Jan 20, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I had these installed at the bottom of my cabinets and they look great. The only thing is that you need to have a carpenter hide the wires, which is easily done by adding a false bottom underneath the cabinets and cutting a hole to recess the lights. Perfect for what I needed them for.

THIS IS THE 3RD ONE OF THESE I'V HAD TO PURCHASE TO KEEP MY UNDER CABINET LIGHTS OPERATING. NOT TO MENTION A COUPLE OF BLOWN FUSES REPLACED ALSO. NOT SURE WHY THEY KEEP MALFUNCTIONING.

Good Product, Small issue
4 Star Review   By Ajax on Home Depot - Oct 13, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

My wife and I have used this dimmer with great success in our bedroom. We have lights on end tables at each side of the bed, both plugged into one of these dimmers. We've been using this product for 4 years without any mechanical issues. The only moderate complaint I have is that when used in the lower power settings, our lamps which both have incandescent bulbs, produce an audible hum. It isn't loud, but when the room is quiet and we are reading its noticeable. Unlike the other reviewer, we haven't had any problems with high rates of bulbs burning out or with power adapter problems.

Poor quality
1 Star Review   By Buttugly on Home Depot - Jul 10, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I bought 2 sets of the Hampton Bay under counter lights about 5 years ago. The lights work good when they work. The problem is that at least once a year I have had to replace the power supply, 150-330. At $19.00 each twice a year it's not worth the original price. And I am not even taking into account the annual cost of replacement bulbs, thats a whole other issue. If your looking for under counter lights do your home work. I would never recommend these to anyone.
