great mixer for the price
5 Star Review   By Serg on Home Depot - Jun 6, 2013

couldn't ask for a better mixer for the money spent. I've worked with concrete at work for almost 25 years and just wanted to do some work at home at my own pace without having to get the big truck in the driveway. I read some reviews and used the hose gaskets on the mixing blade bolts for no leaks and always have plenty of water in it before adding any cement/concrete.

I am a major Do it yourself person with building background and education. This machine functioned as I expected it to operate. No problems other than a rookie may not follow instruction guidelines properly and possible review of this will help others. Best recommendation for use is to start with 40-50 pound bags because it will be a workout for those not use to heavy labor.

Works Great
4 Star Review   By Baqnar on Home Depot - Apr 6, 2013

I bought this mixer for small masonry projects and to mix batches of soil for raised beds and potted plants. It was easy to put together and operated. The one downside is that it can be a bit ungainly to move around, which is why it didn't get a five star rating. I applied silicon adhesive to the underside of the screw heads on the drum and on the threads to help retain the fasteners and keep them from leaking as another poster suggested.

Very Impressed!
5 Star Review   By dezandseth on Home Depot - Nov 13, 2012

I've been a homeowner for about a year now and the project list is crazy long. We've done several small projects with cement, mixing it by hand in the wheelbarrow, but when it came time to pour a slab for a new shed I decided to look into purchasing a mixer. I considered renting one but we have several more large projects involving cement and I decided I could justify the cost of BUYING a mixer once vs. RENTING a mixer several times. Assembly was extremely easy, took about 15 minutes. Transporting it around the yard was pretty easy too. The swivel feature of the drum was nice to turn it towards me while loading and then back to the direction of the job. This mixer also seems pretty quiet, and I was impressed that it didn't sound like a construction site while it was running. Dumping the mixed cement out of the drum is easy and the handles are placed in a good location. As long as you hose down the inside a little bit after each dump, the inside will stay nice and clean. The size is pretty good too. It's big enough to say "i mean business" but small enough to move around the project site easily and will easily fit through a 36" door. We mixed 47 bags of cement for this particular project. It was able to handle three 60lb bags at a time with no problem. I would say this is an EXCELLENT mixer for a homeowner and it's a very decent price. My only complaint would be that the mixing blades seem a tad long in the front and they would frequently catch the bag or my knuckles as I emptied the bags into the drum. I was wearing gloves so my knuckles are just fine, but after a few bags I finally found the "sweet spot" where to cut the bag and how far to hold it away from the lip of the mixer so it didn't get snagged by the blades anymore. All in all, I am happy happy happy, and so are my arms and my back :)

5 Star Review   By jngavin57 on Home Depot - Oct 14, 2012

Just bought this mixer. Finished assembly in about 15 mins...Was very impressed with the heavy duty construction. My wife had to assist me lifting the motor assemby up and onto the frame. Most of it goes together with cotter pins. The only 4 bolts were for the mixer blades. Recommend adding some RTB silicone around the bolt heads to seal and keep the nuts from loosening.

broken, impossible to find parts/help
2 Star Review   By MHHC on Home Depot - Sep 17, 2012

This product had worked quite well for us until the bucket fell right off. Which then bent it so its not circular at the lip. When looking around it seems the bolt on a t-bar that holds the bucket on (from within) had deteriorated and the bottom 3/4" of threads or so was essentially non existant. It is about a year and a half old. And now, for some reason, finding parts or service from husky for their mixers is completely non-existant! i'd rather fix it because the motor has been perfect and the frame in tact, but it looks like we're stuck looking for something new with our job 1/2 complete

Good machine but with a couple of gotchyas
4 Star Review   By GCinMaine on Home Depot - Aug 14, 2012

Bought this machine to mix 48 80# bags of concrete. The machine went together easily. I was pouring 12" sono tubes on a hillside behind my house for a deck. The machine was difficult to pull uphill or to even move about on flat ground. It should of had a latching device on the hinge to facilitate movement. The motor is not soft start so the torque from starting the motor almost caused the mixer to tip over (and go downhill). I suggest that the barrel gets turned perpendicular to the base when starting the motor with a full tub. I found that putting about a gal to 2 gal in the tub first before adding any concrete mix avoided the problem with dry mix sticking to the bottom of the tub. When disassembling the mixer the threads on the T bolt were so galled the even the replacement bolt would not start in. I chased the galled threads and when I re assembled I applied plenty of greese. That took care of the galling issue. Great machine over-all. I would buy it again.

One of the better TOOL values.
4 Star Review   By Johnny on Home Depot - Aug 2, 2012

I've processed hundreds of bags of concrete through this little guy and have had only one problem. A bearing failed in the gear box. Luckily it is fixable by anyone who has moderate mechanical skills. I have discovered that the optimal amount of bags to mix in one batch is 3 60 lbs bags. You can go more, but it puts a strain on the motor and the concrete accumulates in the rear and doesn't mix properly. I also experiment with drum angle to get optimal performance. If the machine died today I figure I would have gotten my money's worth.

Greatest low priced mixer!
4 Star Review   By Homeyteach on Home Depot - Jun 30, 2012

I purchased this mixer for home use and to do a lot of projects ( slab for patio-2 yards concrete) fence posts, walkways, driveway for storage building, etc. I live out in the country on 1.5 acres, and it is expensive and difficult to get a cement truck in to pour concrete. I have never been happier with the purchase. The mixer easily handles 3-80lb bags of quikrete, but I recommend using the 60 lb bags to save your back. I did a large patio slab for an enclosed lanai, and mixed close to 70 bags of cement in 4 sections. For the price, I expected the mixer to have trouble- BUT I WAS WRONG! This thing worked like a champ. Yes, you do have to water the inside back of the mixer with a full load of cement, but friends in the construction business told me that they do that with their commercial mixers. DUH??!! After the slab, fenceposts (for 300' of fence), 30' driveway and 2 walkways since March 2012, this thing still works like new. It has already paid for itself. I recommend this mixer after shopping every major outlet for an inexpensive project mixer for life.

question the durablity of mixer
2 Star Review   By Nickname on Home Depot - May 24, 2012

i bought the mixer 6 months agor. We have probably mixed around 500 bags of 80lb concrete. the motor went out yesterday. It has a hard time mixing 3 bags of concrete, a majority of the concrete gets stuck in the back, and it tends to spit back at you. Overall, i'm going to have to not recommend the mixer

Great mixer
5 Star Review   By MarkInColorado on Home Depot - May 22, 2012

I have used the mixer several times and it works great! Easily mixes 3 sixty pound bags of cement. Assembly is simple in less than 30 minutes. I took the advice of other reviews and used hose washers on the outside of the tub when installing the mixing blade bolts to prevent any leaks. Also, pouring the dry mix into 5 gallon buckets makes it easier to pour into the tub without the blades catching the paper on the bags. Great price and quality - highly recommended!

Worked, and worked, and worked.......... well
5 Star Review   By DIYaholic on Home Depot - May 21, 2012

Guess you could say, I'm a DIY aholic - that being said, I know you get what you pay for. Bought this mixer on Friday, along with 19 80lb. bags of concrete - then followed it up by buying an additionl 15 bags on Sat, and 14 bags on Sunday - yep a total of 48 bags mixed by this in one weekend. It can only handle 3, 80lb (max total weight is 270lbs) bags at a time - also as you are mixing - you'll need to stop the mixer and "pull" the driy mix away from the back of the tub - I used a simple garden trowell - as it seems with a larger volume of mix, the dry gets covered. This mixer basically allowed me to "survive" as I know I couldn't have mixed all the bags by hand, and I didn't want to pay the rental fee ($50 per day) - -as I still have a good 15 - 20 additional bags to complete my project - By buying this mixer, I can mix as many or as few as I want each day - and now feel like I have a time line to meet. Only wish it had a reverse - but and yes I'd buy it again Bottom line - it works great!!

so far so good
5 Star Review   By MarkV on Home Depot - May 8, 2012

I've used it about 5 times. Its mostly being used to mix cement and soil for bricks, but its sturdy and portable. If anything happens in the first six months I might modify the rating, but so far I have zero complaints.

Much better than the one from HF!
4 Star Review   By nmgal007 on Home Depot - Apr 17, 2012

This little gem went together in less than on hour and has been mixing for me on command ever since. The mixer blades could be a bit better, and I have to use a horse to prop up the handles to get it to mix correctly, but it is easy for one woman to handle, move around, dump out, and cleans up easily. I had a bad experience with one for Harbor Frieght last year. This one goes together much easier, takes up less room, is quieter, and mixes just fine! On the bad side, it was shipped from the furthest possible point when I ordered it online, and it arrived with some bad dents/gouges in the bottom from the way it was transported. I was too anxious to use it by the time it finally arrived from NJ to address the damage.

Worth every penny...So far
5 Star Review   By GTR0419 on Home Depot - Dec 5, 2011

I was a little skeptical at first, but after my first job with it, my only real complaint regarding this mixer is why I didn't purchase one a long time ago. If you are mixing any quantity of concrete this thing makes the job easier and quicker. I was able to pour a 4" 24 sq/ft pad in a couple hours by myself. That would have easily taken most of a day using a mixing tub and I would have paid for it physically for a couple more. A couple of tips: First, I almost purchsed a used one of these I found on Craigslist. It was suppossedly only used once, but looked like it was covered in concrete. So, I passed. However, when I put mine together I noticed the mixing blades are not formed to fit the barrel correctly on the front brackets. Therefore, it was very clear that slurry and water would leak out the bolt holes and potentially cover the barrel. I used some sealing and hose washers to close the gaps and had no leaks. The machine looks as new after my first project. Secondly, if you are using bagged concrete, I found it easier to pour the concrete into a five gallon bucket before pouring into the mixer. When I tried dumping the bags, the blades would catch on the paper and tear pieces off. I then had to fish them out of the batch. Not a big deal and 40lb bags may be easier to control (I was using 80lbs). Time will tell as to durability. I did check the motor temp a few times while mixing 160lbs and it was fine. Actually, it was barely warm. Who knows, but if it only lasts a couple years it will be worth every penny.

Fantastic mixer!
5 Star Review   By LordKeystroke on Home Depot - Nov 12, 2011

I've had this beast for 4 years, and at 2 different addresses. It lives outside, and handles 3 80lb bags with ease. The height of the drum is great for me, I just hoist a bag up and drop it into the mouth, razor knife it open, and remove bag. My motor reverses which makes it easy to pour product out in a controlled fashion. We use it a LOT, and have had no issues with it.
