Excellent Coverage!
5 Star Review   By pampurple8 on Home Depot - Apr 23, 2013

I installed this light at my back door so I could see the backyard at night and my dog could see to go out... This light definately lights things up and covers a good deal of the area. I feel much safer having this new, motion-detected light installed...

Cheap product
1 Star Review   By farmer on Home Depot - Mar 31, 2013

I took the 1st light out of the box and the motion sensor threads where it screwed into the housing was stripped and the sensor fell off. The second light one of the lights had the same problem, all cheap plastic. I prefer the older style lights where you can position the bulbs in down the side of the building, these you have to keep them point more to the front, sockets wont turn to the sides. I also prefer the older 2 screw covers verses this single center. I would never recommend this product, I'm surprised Home D sells it.

doesn't last very long
1 Star Review   By Sailor on Home Depot - Feb 5, 2013

In the past year I've installed 2 of these lights. In both cases the motion detector stopped working after a few months. It's inexpensive initially but when you include all the time installing, fiddling with, and finally going to the store to get another, then this is a very poor use of resources. Given the repeated complaints Home Depot should stop selling them.

I love this light!
5 Star Review   By Luv2cook on Home Depot - Jan 25, 2013

I had these installed in two spots in my back yard as thefts are running rampant these days. I absolutely love them. The sensor has to be at the right angle/position (and the downside is that the thieves can move it) but they give a lot of light and turn off after a few minutes. I had them professionally installed so I don't know about ease of installation, but I am very happy with them. Bulbs last for months.

Amann
1 Star Review   By Amann on Home Depot - Jan 24, 2013

I installed two of these units and they both malfunctioned in the same way within a few days of installation. If the light switch is on and it is nighttime, the lights blink on and off. Switch positions, delay times and motion in front of the sensor have no effect. I am an electrical engineer with 30 years experience and I know how to read an owners manual and troubleshoot electronics. It is not user error. These units are truly defective. It was probably a bad manufacturing lot but I will not take a chance on installing warranty replacements. Total loss. My advice - do not buy under any circumstances.

Not Worth It!
1 Star Review   By Arttate on Home Depot - Jan 23, 2013

Product started failing within 6 months. It comes on every time the wind blows. When I need it to come on by walking up to it, the light does not even come on. I can wave my hands, jump up and down and it still will not come on, but let the wind begin to blow and you can't get the light to shut off. I will not buy another one. I will keep to the less expensive ones that have not failed me yet. I thought I was getting something much more reliable to protect the side of my home with more degree detection. Boy was I wrong! Buyer beware!!!!!!

find a better light
3 Star Review   By steve on Home Depot - Jan 1, 2013

sensor though set to 5 minutes, stays on less than 1 minute, does not appear to cover 180 degrees at all. this replaces an existing light that just broke from old age.

Sensor is very short-lived. DO NOT BUY!
1 Star Review   By JCB6427 on Home Depot - Dec 15, 2012

Like many others in here have said, the light is GREAT when it works. The problem arises when the sensor stops working. In my case it took about 3 months for it to fail. It worked intermittently for about a week and died never to return. All I have now is a wall decoration. Off to find a better solution. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! There's a reason it is inexpensive. You pay for what you get. I found another replacement, a Heath Zenith Journeyman 270 Degree Motion Sensing Security Light with Lamp Shields at 3 times the cost with a lifetime warranty. The only problem is that it's out of stock. Figures!

Sensor failed after about a year
2 Star Review   By TomO on Home Depot - Oct 3, 2012

Bought summer of 2011. Worked fine thru spring of 2012, now as it's getting darker early I checked it's operation and found it not working after checking that there was juice to the unit I decided to pursue a fix and found other people having a similar problem. I will contact the Mfgr for a fix.

Short life
1 Star Review   By hdesq on Home Depot - Oct 2, 2012

Installed one in the attic hoping to avoid groping in the dark for an on/off switch. The sensor failed in less than a year, which is about how often I use the attic. Replaced it with a standard light.

Too bright; irritates the neighbors who have 65 watt lightbulbs in their lighting.
2 Star Review   By Lizzy on Home Depot - Sep 20, 2012

It is too bright for close quarters, e.g. townhouse use. Its two bulbs of 120 halogen watts is too much for ordinary use. If a high security area is necessary, and for long distance farm, rural use it may be useful, but not on a suburban subdivision.

2 Star Review   By Don1 on Home Depot - May 2, 2012

I bought 2 and returned both. Covered the optical sensor with BLACK tape. With "sensitivity" at minimum, can't turn on power without the light activating...Period. Can't say the maximum setting is worse.. Judging by other reviews, some folks had NO problems. Good luck to you

This light has great features
4 Star Review   By rose on Home Depot - Feb 20, 2012

This is the third light I had installed today!! Very easy install under my eaves, allows you to "turn" the motion sensor box to fit this need. I used 2-bulb value pack (HD)medium base par38 indoor/outdoor flood 90watt. I may go lower, quite brite, but has an option for being dim until it senses movement, then goes brite. I like this feature, but has a few other great features and controls. Great Value!

Works as advertised but reliability is questionable
3 Star Review   By Bigguy on Home Depot - Jan 14, 2012

A Zenith Motion Security light failed I had purchased a few years ago so I replaced it with a new one. This light is used to illuminate the area in front of the garage. The broken one was adequate and the new one was very similar and reasonably priced. Installation was smooth and easy, especially since I had done it before. Light coverage, activation distance and direction, and illumination duration are all adjustable. I would have given it 5 stars except for two issues. Like many fixtures the wires are stranded copper and do not make the best mechanical connection with normal solid copper wires. The second issue is more important. The warranty was for one year and it only lasted about 3 years. Not at all good reliability. I purchased this one because Heath Zenith products were the majority of choices at Home Depot, it did what I wanted and was reasonably priced. I figured that the first one's premature failure could have been a fluke. However, If this one fails in less than 10 years, I will not purchase a Heath Zenith lighting fixture again.

The product is a good choice for security lighting.
4 Star Review   By 94redbird on Home Depot - Dec 6, 2011

Replacing a 10 year old light from same company. The original light got so it would come on during the day. Not worth sending back for warranty repair/replacement. Hope this one lasts longer.

Like the flexibility for length of time it stays on.....
5 Star Review   By Klick on Home Depot - Nov 22, 2011

This is the best value for the price that we have seen anywhere, compared with lights that have similar features for twice the price and don't seem to have any better qualities.....works very well as a security light when not at home.....

Works well for a while
1 Star Review   By AeroDude on Home Depot - Oct 19, 2011

Had two of these, both worked well for about 6-12 months, then they start staying on indefinitely instead of turning off after a few minutes. At first, shutting off the power for a while would reset them and they would work properly, but over time they get worse and worse until you're forced to treat them as a manual light. I won't buy this brand again.

4 Star Review   By beachplace on Home Depot - Sep 27, 2011

Heath Zenith motion sensing security light 180 degree
3 Star Review   By Hitchhiker on Home Depot - Sep 9, 2011

Overall it is a good light so far. The only thing is that the sensor does not work consistently, for instance, sometimes you can walk right up to it before it detects you and other times it is very sensitive. I had that problem with previous lights and these are somewhat better and good enough they are staying up.

Right price...easy intallation.
5 Star Review   By Scrimshaw on Home Depot - Sep 6, 2011

I installed this on an existing porch light location on the side of my garage... Easy. I especially appreciate the nylon cable that one can suspend the light assembly when completing the wiring. The sensor was easy to adjust and has performed perfectly. Others have complained that this light didn't last long as expected... My fingers are crossed.

Works Fine - 6 months
5 Star Review   By alcer on Home Depot - May 6, 2011

I've had this product for six months and it works fine and was easy to install. The light on the sensor that lets you know when it is 'sensing' you is a nice feature. Much better than the cheaper Brinks light which I've had problems with.

Overall great product
4 Star Review   By Whois1145 on Home Depot - Dec 6, 2010

I wanted something with a motion detector that would replace my energy hog halogen 150 watt light in the back yard. It installed easily without hassle. I installed two 23 watt (150 eq) cfl bulbs in there. This unit does support CFL because it does not support the 2 bright technology. It took a bit to adjust the sensativity, but now it works great. I am installing another (but in black) on the front of my house.

Sensor does not last long
2 Star Review   By WaynesWorld1 on Home Depot - Oct 29, 2010

I first bought this light 5 years ago. The first one failed after just over a year (the light stayed on all day and night) so the sensor was obviously broken. I contacted Heath-Zenith and they sent me a full replacement, which is great except that my light is 15' off the ground so replacing this is no fun. Since then I've replaced this light fixture another 2 or 3 times. Why can't they produce a decent quality sensor? I've given up gambling with Heath-Zenith security lights. In summary, while the sensor is working this light works fine but you will almost assuredly have to replace it.

Light Sensor Dies in a Short Period
2 Star Review   By davidsco on Home Depot - Sep 21, 2010

The problem with these lights is that the sensor to detect daylight dies within a couple of years. Prior to that, it works fine, but then you have to keep replacing the motion detection piece, which is a MAJOR pain in the neck. In their defense, the same thing tends to happen with solar lights as well, but that doesn't make it any less annoying

Security Light Stays on
3 Star Review   By APKim on Home Depot - Sep 4, 2010

I bought and installed this light today and it triggers all the time. I've turned off the power, I've set the sensitivity to the lowest setting, and aimed the sensor as low as I could and it still triggers automatically about ten to thirty seconds after clicking off. I will be returning this light in a few days.
