smooth operation
5 Star Review   By member mike7009 - Jul 20, 2008

Strengths: Long reach shaft,Well balanced, smooth cutting, good price

Weakness: alittle cold natured when you first start, have to run on half-choke for a while

I was looking for a good trimmer that was affordable and light-weight. This trimmer fits the bill and I have owned three and they gave good service. It is also well balanced to hold and operate.

5 Star Review   By member logic243 - Sep 16, 2006

Strengths: Power, Light Weight

Weakness: Sensitive line release.

My old gas Weed Eater finally gave up the ghost after 10 years. Not bad considering I bought it second hand in 1996. Now not to mislead you, I am somewhat mechanically inclined and I did have to work on the old one over the years but it was pretty much just maintenance. I decided to try another Weed Eater machine. After reading some reviews on the web I decided on the SST25. I went to Wal-Mart hoping they would be on clearance since it’s the middle of September. No such luck. Anyway I bought the SST25 for $89.00 + tax and took it home. The hardest part of preparing it for my first try was getting it out of the box. I followed the starting instructions precisely and pulled the rope. On the fourth pull I was ready to get after it. I was amazed how much more powerful this lightweight trimmer was than my old heavier one. It ate through the grass like paper. I accidentally got to close to one of my wife’s flower pots and it ate it up too. The only downside that I found was the sting bumper is very sensitive. It occasionally allowed too much string out which had a tendency to stall the engine. It took an average of four pulls to restart it each time. With time and use I’m confident I will become more accustomed to the line release and not have that problem. I definitely recommend this trimmer if you are on a budget or just don’t want to spend the money for a more expensive machine.
