Wow
5 Star Review   By OneBad37 on Home Depot - Apr 16, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

So darn easy to use, I did six driveways (happy neighbors) in our little neighborhood. I even carried it through the house and did our deck! Had to work it a bit on the drifts (10-12), but in six to eight inches, it tossed it aside and kept on going. Easy to start, use and clean up! I'm impressed.

Pretty good blower
5 Star Review   By Blowininthewind on Home Depot - Apr 2, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This is the first one we have owned, so going from a shovel to a machine is a huge improvement. It works pretty well on dryer snow, the wet stuff is harder and does not go as far. It is great for accumulation 6 in and under, if it is a bigger storm you will need to operate a few times. Also the one draw back I find is that you have to reach down to change the direction of the shoot. Ideally it would have a handle that would allow for easy direction changes.

4 Star Review   By Robert on Home Depot - Mar 24, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I only got a chance to use this snow blower a few times so far but from what I see it's a great value. The electric start is also a nice feature although not necessary because it starts easily without. I like the fact that you lean it forward at it self propels. Seems to be just the right size for all around cleaning. The only thing I would change is the location of the key to start and stop it. It's low and hard t see and locate.

Engine never would start.
1 Star Review   By worknxs on Home Depot - Mar 23, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I received this as a gift from my wife in March. We had a late, deep snowfall so I tried to unpack the snow blower from the box and use it. After over two hours of trying to get the engine to start, my wife had already shoveled the driveway by hand. I have owned small engines for nearly 30 years and have never had an engine I couldn't get started, let alone a brand new engine. We are taking the snow blower back for a refund.

I picked this up to keep the driveway clear while the kids were home for Christmas so I could spend more time with them and not out shovelling. We're near the coast in Maine and this little beast has devoured everything from Nemo's 24" to this morning's 5" of heavy slush. Self propelled, lightweight, starts on first pull. Couldn't have made a better buy at a better time

Great little machine
5 Star Review   By Snowbabe96 on Home Depot - Feb 26, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I own 2 of these little beasts. They are amazing! I also have 2 of the larger ones. I had a problem with one of the carburetors on one of them that is 3 yrs old, and Toro to their credit, stood behind it and made it right. These throwers really do the job, and are small enough to get in the SUV and take to help a friend if needed. I love the simple operation, and the fact that they can throw slush too. Easy for a woman to use, as they are very manageable .

Just Perfect
5 Star Review   By 6339dixie on Home Depot - Feb 26, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This is a nice machine. We have been wanting a snow blower for many years and after my husband's hip surgery we knew we had to take the plunge. It was easy to assemble and doesn't take up too much space in the garage. The only bad part so far is that we have only got to use it twice as there doesn't seem to be any snow in the forseeable future.

Great little snow thrower! Great service from Home Depot!
5 Star Review   By GinoDL on Home Depot - Feb 19, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I bought this snow thrower for my Sister-in-law who has a very large deck and entry to her house. I wanted something simple and easy to start and operate, and this Toro filled the bill exactly. I tried it myself with about 6-8 inches of wet snow on the deck, and it worked perfectly, cleaning on down to the deck ( the flexible impellers don't bother the decking at all), and throwing the snow about 25 feet over the railings and out of the way. She's very happy. For my part, Home Depot delivered this machine very quickly, even though my sister-in-law lives in the middle of Nowhere, New York. Nicely done, Home Depot!

Right out of the box with maybe four nuts to add, I was using this snow blower. I was delighted at how easy it was to use. I have a steep driveway and the light weight made it simple to go up and down. Don't let the light weight fool you, it's a rugged machine.

Needed to down size from a larger snow blower. I liked not having to mix the oil and gas. Was looking for a large enough machine to handle michigan in the city snow.So far this one fits the bill, I doubt it would take alot of heavy wet snow, however it didn't cost like it would.

5 Star Review   By nobodyspecial1 on Home Depot - Feb 10, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This is a high rev workhorse of a machine. I can't write about long term quality but I will say that it cut through 18" of snow with relative ease. The only thing that I would add would be handle mounted outlet direction controls.

A good, simple snow blower.
5 Star Review   By Snowman417 on Home Depot - Feb 6, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I recently moved to an area that gets a lot more snow than I have been used to getting in recent years, so I was looking for a simple snow blower for a 3-4 car driveway. This machine has definitely lived up to the positive reviews I read. The electric start is great, the oil was easy to change (though a bit messy as the drain plug is set very close to the metal guard on back), and it does a great job clearing. It works great for snows up to 6 inches, and if you're patient and willing to take smaller passes, it does fine with slightly more accumulation. If I worked slow and took small "bites", it even did fine with the 18 inches of heavy, wet snow that the snow plow put at the entrance to our driveway. I have been very satisfied with what this machine can do for the price I paid. It is reliable and does a good job. Just remember it is a small snow thrower, so if you don't think you can be patient and let it work, get something bigger. I've been very pleased with my purchase.

A nice little machine
3 Star Review   By miked on Home Depot - Feb 5, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This is a nice little machine. I purchased this right before the new year and used it for two relatively insignificant storms. After the second, I realized that I needed something a little more powerful. I wound up returning this machine and purchased the next model up, the 621 E. My issue with this machine was that it didn't have the power to really throw the snow. Another concern was with the snow at the end of the driveway - cutting through and clearing was tough. Probably an excellent machine for 3-6 inches of light fluffy snow.

4 Star Review   By Steve on Home Depot - Feb 5, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Works well, is strong yet light and easy to manipulate. I am very impressed. It turns over very quickly with the electric start. Only problem I have is that it is a little awkward to plug in the cord. You can't quite see what you're doing without tilting the whole unit up.

Great snowblower, haven't had to challenge it yet
4 Star Review   By Drew on Home Depot - Feb 5, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This small single-stage snowblower has done a great job with the few light snowfalls we've had so far this winter. It starts and moves easily, and it throws the snow farther than I anticipated given its size. The review is incomplete because I haven't cleared more than 4 inches of light snow at a time. I'm looking forward to seeing how it handles more volume.

5 Star Review   By stromy on Home Depot - Feb 4, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

My wife refused to use the larger snow thrower we have to clear the driveway when I am out of town. I bought this so she could dig her self out when I am gone. I also find myself using this thing more than the larger snow thrower. It's maneuverable and starts on the first pull.

junk
1 Star Review   By John on Home Depot - Feb 4, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Don't buy this, it has a bad fuel system design and it won't start when you need it to. If the temps are below freezing, better go find your shovel, because this unit is not going to start for you.

Certainly worth the cost
4 Star Review   By Photos on Home Depot - Jan 29, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I've only had this snow blower for two weeks...hence two snowstorms. The snow exit chute was very difficult to assemble but throws the snow a good distance. Another problem is that in heavier snow the snow blower clogs easily and therefore shuts down too often. However, considering the price, it is still a very good unit and am glad I made this purchase

Great machine
5 Star Review   By MMMM on Home Depot - Jan 28, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

This machine is really easy to use. It was very easy to put together, the instructions were easy to follow. It's lightweight without being too flimsy. Easy to manouver and doesn't take up a ton of room in the garage. More than capable of tackling sidewalk, walkways and driveway. I would recommend this to anyone who is on the fence on whether they need one or not. It's an excellent labor saver and good value for money.

For a novice snow blow user, this is a good model to start with.
4 Star Review   By Paris18 on Home Depot - Jan 15, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I bought my snow blower the day of our first measurable amount of snow in the Metro Detroit area, Dec. 26, 2012. So far, I've only it used it once, but for a first-time snow blower user, I found it easy to use (once I got a neighbor to assist me with the basics, didn't want to take time read the instruction book). The only problem I encountered was when I went to use it the next morning, the snow shovel fell against it and broke the "plastic key", which was in the ignition. Luckily, I was able to remove it (would be nice to have a real key). Overall so far my experience has been positive and I would recommended purchasing this model if you have limited experience operating snow blowers and don't need a large, heavy-duty model.

Great Little Machine
5 Star Review   By Roni on Home Depot - Jan 15, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I purchased this machine because it was much lighter in weight than my 7 hp Yardman. I wanted something that I could handle more easily. The machine started right up! Very easy pull. It's great for snow upto 8 inches or so. We haven't had a big snowfall yet and I anticipate that this machine will do the job, but I may have to go back over my tracks to really get my driveway clean. But it sure beats shoveling. The only complaint I have so far is the throttle. It's made of very cheap, flimsy plastic. I'm worried that it will break or fall off - they should really make it out of metal.

We are very happy with this product, the ease of use, the quick snow removal, the distance of the snow thrown is fantastic. It is very easy to start using even the manual start even though it is equipped with the electric start. It was very economical, right in our price range to help us manage the midwest winter weather!

1 Star Review   By Jojo on Home Depot - Jan 8, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Firs time we used it, the belt broke down. We went back to the Homedepot to get a new belt and replace it. The machine did not shoot snow very high. The snow fell back to our driveway. It was a big mess. We ended up have to scoop our driveway by hand. So, we returned it.

5 Star Review   By nuguy on Home Depot - Jan 3, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

The ToroPower Clear 180 has an electric start which, along with expected dependability, is why we bought it.. It handles smaller amounts of snow (3"-6") very well, and we can clear or two car driveway in short time. We've owned it for a few months, and expect it to be very durable as our last Toro snow thrower is still running after many years of use.

I am beyond happy with this little 18" snow blower. It was easy to put together and came packed with the first quart of oil needed for start-up. It started easily and has has smoothly ever since. The first time I had to use it I returned home to 12 inches of snow in my driveway, which was topped with a lovely layer of ice. I was concerned but this machine easily tore through the mess. Although I had to reduce the width of each swipe, I was able to easily remove the snow. Excellent!

Good for regular snow
3 Star Review   By LaughingBuddha on Home Depot - Dec 28, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Finally use it for the first time with this Wednesday winter 2012 blizzard. The first time start took a few pull, just didn't prime enough. I used the electric start and worked effortlessly. After that, manual pull was easy. The light 4-6 inch powdery snow was easily to remove. The light weight of the blower has the pros and con. The pro is light and easy to push. The con is too light and sometimes floats up on deeper snow. The snow shoots up 15 plus feet. When I get to the apron closer to the road, I had a hard time removing wet snow. It keeps stalling on me few time. I have to move a little slower and run two pass trying to avoid it. For heavy and wet snow, this unit is not very good. It keeps stalling. The whole reason I purchase this was to help me remove heavy snow on the apron which was a back breaking task instead of manual hand shoveling the snow. The blower help saves my back but frustrated on the performance. This model with light weight and compact size blower is ideal for clearing the side walk and narrow path. Easy to turn around due to the small and light weight. A plus for light snow area but not for wet snow. It does a job better than manual hand shoveling and cut the time in half. I was hoping to get a simple model as my driveway is short and don't need a big and expensive snow blower for that. I was steered wrongly by some of the reviewers and I should listen to the one who had more problems with it. I was wrong in the sense that the blower stalls on 8 inch of wet snow. A very disappointing performance. For a very light snow and powdery snow, this works. For heavy and wet snow (thicker than 8"), this model doesn't perform that well.

Moved the wet, heavy, slushy stuff with no problem. Doesn't throw super far, but far enough for small driveways and sidewalks. I am very happy with the purchase.

Works Well, Good Value, Needs Slight Improvement
4 Star Review   By DinoSoar on Home Depot - Dec 9, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Finally had an opportunity to test, but only about 2-3 inches of light snow. Started right up, very nice with the electric start. It was easy to handle and did a pretty good job of cleaning off the snow for being a small blower and it saved me a lot of time and backache. The only suggestion I have is that it needs bigger, softer tires with more grip (vs. the hard plastic it has) as it tended to slide on inclines.

I HATE IT!!! (Keep reading....)
5 Star Review   By HockeyFan on Home Depot - Dec 6, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I absolutely HATE this thing? Why, you ask? 'Cuz the darn thing won't die!! My wife won't let me buy one of the big Toro Power Max HD blowers until this one dies. Well, unless I run this one over with the truck, I don't think I'll be getting a new toy any time soon. To be honest, this thing just keeps running. Yes, it's an 18" snow blower, so keep that in mind when you're going in to that 4 foot drift. But for everything else, it works like a champ! Cleans down to the pavement, easy to move around to clean the front stairs and the back deck, perfect for my 200' of sidewalk (yes, 200 feet!). And the electric start is the goods! Hit the primer, hit the button, clear some snow. It's a Toro, so it just works. I'm sure I can find something else to spend my money on at Home Depot. I think I may need a new grill....

Bad back + snow = this product is awesome
5 Star Review   By Chris on Home Depot - Oct 24, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I have lived in Colorado now for 9 years and just purchased my first snowblower last year. Why on earth did I wait so long? After using this little bad boy all winter last year, I was impressed. Some of the other reviews mention that you have to go over it twice ( not true unless you are blowing over 8", or your driveway has to be completely clear of every little snowflake ). It is powerful, shoots snow 20-25 feet, and you can direct the blown snow any direction you choose. I would recommend this product to anyone and everyone.

5 Star Review   By Vice on Home Depot - Mar 6, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Electric start is a plus but starting the motor using "standard cranking" is easy as well. It's a little too loud for me, but this is the first snow blower I've operated so I really have nothing to compare to. Good product for the money. And I know Toro is reliable and will last years.

Good Product
4 Star Review   By HappyWife2 on Home Depot - Feb 21, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I am sooo happy I bought this! My husband is a firefighter & when he came home in the mornings he didn't want to crush snow down on the driveway. so after being up all night, he would get out and shovel before coming even coming in the door. I was so xcited to surprise him w/this for Christmas, but he thought it was a waste of money we don't have. Then after the first snow he was sooo surprised &happy, he even had energy to stay out to play w/our kids. If there's more than 3 inches u have to go over at least twice, but auto start is worth the xtra$$. And I don't think u will find much better for this amount. Sooo happy I did it, And my hubby is too :)

Everyone has thanked me for buying a new snow blower because it has not snowed enough for me to use it! I'm sure it will do a fine job when it finally snows more than an inch. It seems to be well-built and durable. I think this was a wise choice. I'm glad I don't have to mix oil and gas anymore.

This is a great little snow blower. I've used it twice in about 6 to 8 inches of snow and so far it has performed flawlessly. The 1st snow was kind of wet and heavy but it still handle it without clogging or slowing down. I cleared my house and my neighbor's house which is a corner house in less than half an hour. Our lots are 150 feet long.

Outstanding!
5 Star Review   By DeadeyeDanno on Home Depot - Jan 28, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

OK! After a great deal of research, on comparable units I made the plunge. First off, I have a Simplicity 1126L which handes the heavy stuff that Mother Nature tosses at us. I am not going to use the 418 to blow 10 inches of snow that has the consistency of cement. I need something to handle the 4-6 inch snow falls. I take care of my next door neighbors yard and mine. I have about 300 ft of sidewalk and two triple car 150 ft driveways. I want to get it done quick. Before I bought the 418, I went out and bought a "great condition" TORO CCR 1000 1990 model 2 stroke powered single stage off of Craigslist. It worked great for a while then it had belt issues. The CCR paddle is one of the best on the market. The 418 has that paddle design. The 418 is a light weight strong powered machine! So I researched the MTD models (CUB, Troybilt, and Yard Machines), the Poulan models ( Poulan Pro, Husqvarna and McCollouch). The Briggs and Stratton ( Snapper and Simplicity) and the Ariens Single stages. The Toro is the consistent highest rated blower - and with reason! Simple replacement parts are not consistently available for the MTD and the Poulan models. The Briggs and the Ariens are great models but pricey. I looked up the paddle and the belts. These are normal wear items. Both Husqvarna and MTD paddles were not available or on back order off the web sites I checked. The belts were also not available for the Husky. The MTD belt was more expensive than the TORO parts. The Toro peforms extremely well. It started up right our of the box. Don't worry about the 87cc engine. It has the guts to tackle a 6 inch to 8 inch snow fall. The engine is well matched to the 18 inch width. Is it a Chinese engine? Yup it is...so are most of the Briggs, the Poulan's and the MTDs. But keep one thing in mind the Chinese produce good stuff and also bad stuff. TORO has great qualtiy control - they do send their staff to oversee the engine manufacturing. The engine is a power house - believe it! Are the other competitors engines larger - yes - but they have 20, 21 and 22 inch widths. The 87 OHV engine is well matched and well engineered to this width snow blower. The electric start is nice, but my wife and I don't need it. Let's talk about the carburetor and the gas. The gas we use today is troublesome for small carbureted engines. If you let your power equipment sit for more than 30 days with gas in the carb, you will likely have issues. I use Seafoam gas additive ( available at HD) to keep my carburetor clean. In Wisconsin, we have the extra special winter blend ethanol enriched gas which absorbs water readily. If you don't have fresh gas, that has a stabilizer, you will get surging and eventually have carb issues. IMHO. Drain you carburetor at the end of the season and the tank and you won't have problems. This little baby really throws the snow! It'll tackle moderate snows, just slow down a little. If this is your only snowblower, get out there twice or three times a storm and you'll be fine, of just get a larger Toro. I highly recommend this excellent product! Way to go TORO!

I bought this snow blower 4 months ago just waiting for snow. Who would have figured mid January before I could actually have enough snow to use it in Michigan. It went together very easy back in October. Started right up and then sat for almost 4 months. Went out primed it and it started on the first pull. Light weight easy to use just a little on the small side being only 18". I look forward to really putting it through it paces but for now I am happy with the purchase.
