Not just a snow plow
4 Star Review   By BHedges on Home Depot - Mar 28, 2013    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Unfortunately I have a large lawn, with a large population of moles, and the product of their work, many mole hills. Rather than rake these out before mowing, or running over them with the mower deck, I installed the snow plow to push them over as I am mowing. I had to tighten the spring a bit tigher than you would for snow removal, but so far it works great, and protects my mower deck. I haven't used it yet in the snow, but to me, that's an added bonus.

does what it is supposed to
4 Star Review   By wolf9653 on Home Depot - Dec 26, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

it moves snow pretty good. you do need tire chains. there aren't really any other choices on a snow blade, unless there is something totally out there. you do have to lay it out on the ground and read the instructions a couple of times and comprehend 100% how it is supposed to go together before you start to put it together. figuring it out step by step on the fly looking for the bolts as you go along will have you putting it together and apart at least 3 times. I've had it for a few years and is holding up good.

Great Item!
5 Star Review   By Bryanj on Home Depot - Dec 23, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Maybe I'm luckier than most? All the hardware and pieces were included. The directions were clear enough to follow and assembly didn't take too long. I think the ones who've stated they don't like holding the blade up are doing something wrong... Mine locks in the up position, then you pull back on the handle to lower it. Angle adjustment is easy from the seat. I also added the weights and chains and have had NO problems even with my driveway being on a hill. I've tried wrestling snowblowers up and down the hill and hated every minute of it. I had a winch powered personal plow on my Jeep and hated getting in and out constantly to angle the blade, plus the up/down wasn't very quick with the winch. This option is quick and painless. I can clear the drive in about half the time as using the snowblower. And price wise it's cheaper!

A bear to build, but great once it is on.
5 Star Review   By Matt on Home Depot - Feb 21, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Good quality steel product, but know you have to put it all together for the first time. Easy to take on and off once it's built up, but assembly is required. Great price and good service through HD.

It does its job well in the light snow we have had so far - I expect it to handle up to 6 inches well.
4 Star Review   By kris on Home Depot - Feb 14, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

The assembly took several hours and was not too painful! As others have said in previous reviews, several small parts were missing So the assembly time was spread over several days finding the missing parts. Though Home Depot promised to send the missing parts ASAP, a couple of days later John Deere calls to ask again about the missing parts. They did send it to me in several mailings over a week or so. The assembly instructions could have used more details about which part goes to the right etc. So far, I have used the snow blade in three light snowfalls (all 2 inches or so), one with light fluffy snow and two with wet snow. Overall I am satisfied with the job it does in clearing my driveway (about 100ft x 20 ft) in about 30 minutes. I expect it to do well up to six inches of snow but I wont know till we get some. (Do I really want a heavy snowfall, so I could try out the blade?) The only design complaint I have is the the blade turning scheme (to push snow to the left, straight ahead, or to the right) is too flimsy and requires one to get out of the tractor and help it. One needs chains on the rear tires and weights to counter the load in the front. Since I did not want to pay fancy prices, I made a wooden box, hung it with chains and loaded it with rocks - got the idea from a sand box sold for the same purpose (you supply the sand!). Make sure the box clears the tires as the chains swing when going down a slope.

The blade is a good product. It is sturdy and fits nicely on the tractor as well as doesn't take up a lot of garage space.

Needs better instructions.
4 Star Review   By GUSS on Home Depot - Jan 17, 2012    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Overall this is a good product.Came complete in one box.Did have some problems with the instructions and the size of bolts.Doesn`t really tell you which way to bolt the main bracket onto the blade, you have to guess and hope it`s correct. This will have an outcome on how much your blade is tilted when done.Should also say, to push or pull handle to angle the blade. When attaching bracket to your lawn tractor, make sure to take the muffler shield of first.

Overall I like the plow
4 Star Review   By John on Home Depot - Dec 23, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I read most of the reviews while I was waiting for the product. I was nervous with what was being said about installing it. I started by counting all the parts since that was a big complaint that things were missing. I received not what was listed exactly but had enough to finish the project by using the wrong size screws that they sent more of. Over all it took about 2 hours start to finish and I am not waiting on my first snow storm.

works well
4 Star Review   By Hvacpapa on Home Depot - Dec 17, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Did not start well There were two left brackets for mounting plate. Should have just sent it all back but waited for new bracket. Lots of phone time. HD said it was JD problem and JD said it was HD problem. I think JD finally backed it up. Have used and is exactly what i was expecting. Clear through several times during storm, then snowblow back further.

Very satisfied customer
5 Star Review   By Bigchummy on Home Depot - Dec 6, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

The value and ease of use of the John Deere Snow Blade is excellent. Riding and plowing vs. providing all the energy to push a snow blower...no comparison. The blade is of a high guage steel and pushed 10" of wet snow with no problem.

I HAVEN'T USED THE SNOW BLADE AS WE HAVEN'T HAD A SNOW STORM. I DO HAVE IT MOUNTED ON MY RIDDING MOWER AND THAT WAS NOT AN EASY TASK BUT IT FITS REALLY WELL. THE HOME DEPOT DID A REALLY GOOD JOB GETTING IT TO ME FOR A PRICE LESS THAT WHAT THE JOHN DEERE COMPANY WANTED FOR THE SAME PRODUCT AND WITH NO SHIPPING CHARGE. THANK YOU HOME DEPOT!

4 Star Review   By mrfunstuff on Home Depot - Nov 12, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Just received the plow right before October Nor'easter. Worked great! Plowed about 2-3 inches at a time. Anything more would be trying for my tractor. Took a few hours to assemble but all the parts were there. Handle is a bit awkward but it works. That's my only gripe. Overall I'm very satisfied!

worth the money and headache of assembly
4 Star Review   By kev84 on Home Depot - Nov 8, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

What a pain to assemble! I had to remove the hood and muffler guard to install the bracket that bolts to the frame. Also did not come with the correct amount of hardware as stated in other reviews. Other than that, it works well so far, considering there is no snow on the ground.

Does a great job
4 Star Review   By cnk789 on Home Depot - Oct 25, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Works good with pushing snow and dirt thats loose or pushing brush. You can adjust the strength of the front spring so that when you're pushing snow it gives way so you don't mess up your drive way and you can tighten it down to move light dirt. Just wish you could lock it out to really push some harder dirt.

Buy a Snow Blower
2 Star Review   By Sarge on Home Depot - Oct 24, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I bought the blade for my LA105 in December 2010 and thought I was ready for the winter. I got it home and 3-4 hours later had it assembled and attached. We got our first snow that night in Kansas City and I tried the blade on about 6-8 inches and it was OK going down hill. There are weights you can attach to your bagger assembly that will give you the weight needed to push snow and if you have any type of incline you will need chains as well as I found out. You WILL get a work out manually lifting the blade and holding it up while you move around (more than I cared for). As stated in another review, the parts are not the quality needed to push snow. I snapped several cotter pins on the first night of snow and luckily had few extras on hand in my parts box. If you have a flat long driveway and 4-6 inches of powdery snow, this will work fine for you. I would still be hesitant to recommend this to a friend. Yes, I'm buying a snow blower this year and am stuck with a $300 paper weight. Good Luck!! Army of One

overall nice blade for small tractor
3 Star Review   By bcarp1 on Home Depot - Oct 6, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

the assembly was more difficult than I expected, but enough time got it completed. have not used yet, but the position of control rod/lever appears to be awkward, and I am 6 foot 3. so smaller person would have difficulity reaching from seat to operate.

Solid , agile, high quality
5 Star Review   By mark460 on Home Depot - Jan 22, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Works well with my John Deere LA135. Assembled in a couple of hours, all of the parts in the bags were easily identified. Instructions very clear. Manual raise and lower as well as angle right or left and straight ahead. We had a recent 6" snow and it handled well, sturdy construction and made my 4 hour hand shovel job only about 30 minutes long. Had such a good time that I pushed my neighbor's drive as well! I spread snow melt before it began snowing, and that kept the snow from sticking to my concrete drive.

BEST $299.00 I have ever spent!!!
5 Star Review   By JoeLynne on Home Depot - Jan 22, 2011    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

Quick & easy assemble...Although did have a few missing nuts and bolts. Contacted John Deere Customer Service and the missing items were on the way that same day. Instillation was smooth...Operating instruction were spot on. So far this year we have had three snow falls between 3-9 inch and have had zero problems moving (both wet or dry) the snow. I can now do my 24' x 60' drive in minutes not hours and no back pain from shoveling;)

John Deere Front Blade is a lousy product
1 Star Review   By KenMI on Home Depot - Mar 15, 2010    ( See more reviews from Home Depot )

I purchased this blade for my 2007 LA140. I have had to replace the brackets twice. The material (steel) the brackets are made of is shoddy. They bend and twist with only a little pressure applied to them. This tool would only be good for pushing one or two inches of snow- dry snow at that. Any resistance at all, and the metal of the bracket system (both attached to the tractor, and the blade) give way and/or twist. After a couple of time of using this product, it won't raise or lower, and it won't be adjustable (left or right) from the drivers seat.
