Strengths: Payed its dues

Weakness: Can not think of any

For some reason I get a serious drop in psi when I pull the trigger. I have a gauge connected at the pump and I get 3000psi but when I engage It drops to 1200

VERY IMPRESSED BY EVERY PRODUCT CAT HAS EVER PUT OUT. BESIDES ISSUES WITH THE WHEELS THE MECHANICAL ASPECT OF THIS PRESSURE WASHER IS OUTSTANDING. IF YOU ARE IN THE MARKET FOR A COMMERCIAL GRADE WASHER THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. KEEP IN MIND TO REMOVE FUEL FOR STORAGE AND KEEP YOUR PUMP OILED SUFFICIENTLY AND YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE WASHER.

The idle down feature was what really sold me on this unit.
5 Star Review   Home Depot

After using an electric pressure washer to attempt to strip and clean our deck, this pressure washer was an excellent choice to replace the electric unit. It performed the same task in 1/4 of the time required for the electric unit and was much less fatiguing to operate. I found it quite easy to start and operate, the trick being to hold the trigger open as you pull the starter rope.

This is a fine piece of equipment for any of your pressure washing needs.
4 Star Review   By BigT59isunderpressure on Home Depot - Aug 29, 2012

I had no problems in the assembly or usage (albeit somewhat limited thus far) of the cat pressure washer. I was not used to the extra effort needed to pull start the 300cc beast of a motor on this unit, as previous experience has only been with your average 3-4 hp lawn mower engine. It has performed as expected and once the starting procedure is followed it ran well and strong also. My only suggestion to the engineers of said unit would be the proximity of the pull start to the framework of the unit - somewhat of an interference for the unfamiliar user (i.e., me). I'm certain with more frequent use I will get around this minor annoyance. The "idle-down" feature is a great idea. The knob for the pressure adjustment on my unit was very tight and had to be turned with the use of a wrench. As this is my first experience with a unit such as this, I will reserve comment other than the stated fact. This may be something by design, or it may loosen up through more frequent usage. It would also be good to have a shorter extension wand (if available), just for the possibility of some close range work should it be needed. Have not checked to see if an accessory wand of shorter length is available. Considering the power possessed by this unit, closer range operation may only need to be a city block or two away to effectively achieve the task :-). GOOD product. Good warranty. Good features. Good day to you all...

This product is a cleaning beast!
5 Star Review   By jsmith on Home Depot - Aug 15, 2012

Bought this washer today and took it straight to the job site. Got it assembled and it cranked on the first pull! It was used all day long and did a terrific job on the siding we were cleaning and also concrete sidewalks. I am very impressed with the idle down feature and the ease of cranking. This unit has plenty of power and is very easy to move around as you need to. Totally happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend this washer.

This is my second unit I've bought from Home Depot, I have one at home and one at our Florida home. If your tired of buying 3 or 4 hundred dollar pressure washers just to have the pump go out in 6 months then buy this monster.. Professional Quality 3 stage pump that hasn't missed a beat in over 2 years. I laughed for a half hour after reading a previous review that stated it was "Hard to get the cotter pin in" LOL what a Joke....THIS IS A PROFESSIONAL MACHINE

Decent pressure washer but a little disappointed
2 Star Review   Home Depot

This washer was available in the store for $799. Usually it's only available online for $999. Thought it was a great deal. Not too bad putting together. Tires were kind of tough with the cotter pin. Pin was difficult putting on. Finally get tires on and realize one was not round. Must have had washer sitting on it in the box. Now it wobbles when you push the washer. Tires are not pneumatic. Cat pump seems to be excellent until I looked up the model on Cat's website. Cat says the pump is 2800 psi at 2.5 gpm, not the advertised 3800 psi, 3.5 gpm that is on the box and on the pressure washer's plate. Finally, I don't think I'm a fan of the idle down Yamaha engine. The throttle is fixed and you cannot increase the engine speed to increase the pressure. You can only increase engine speed when you squeeze the trigger on the wand and it only goes up slightly. Doesn't sound like I'm getting the maximum the pump can put out due to this. I assume the max of the pump is again 2800 psi and not the advertised 3800 psi. I'm calling the manufacturer to find out what the heck happened on the pump, and also ask how to increase engine throttle. If I don't get good answers I will probably return it.

Buy it- Cant see how you would go wrong!!!
5 Star Review   By DoninOC on Home Depot - Jun 28, 2012

I have had this pressure washer for a year and use it professionally on a weekly basis...I bought it because it was a Cat Pump and the fact that Cat licensed a company to assemble this product- so I expected that the pressure washer would stand up as well as their pumps do. I was not disappointed. The warranty is great and the only issue I have had is the pull cord fly wheel locking up, once, but it released itself when I pulled it lightly to release the spring....I too had a minor leak from the pump assembly but it was easily corrected by tightening the stem that feeds into the pump......Overall, the machine is well built and built to easily service. Thus far, I have had no issues and dont expect to.

5 Star Review   By keith on Home Depot - Jun 26, 2012

I've used the Yamaha/Cat washer for several hours now and it's a nice combination. I've had no issues at all starting it. The idle down feature is really nice! I expect many years of service from the washer and would recommend it to someone looking for something better than entry level but not wanting to spend the money for a full blown professional unit.

This is a good quality washer!
5 Star Review   By Gonzo on Home Depot - May 23, 2012

I have used this washer several times now during the past half year. It is great to use, always starts in 1 or 2 pulls (pull the trigger handle wile starting) and has lots of blasting power. The automatic idle down feature works great, saves gas and is nice if you need to talk for a moment or take a drink. The pressure can be regulated so I can use it for the car and other things without blasting everything off. From all the pressure washers I have used in the last 30 years this is the best. A negative would be that I had to add a little plastic valve (with easy quick connects) in the soap suction hose so it does not suck air if I do not use it. Also it would be nice if it had a pressure meter. But those are minor details.

Disapointed - Great name, but had issues.
2 Star Review   By fastalek on Home Depot - May 20, 2012

I was very excited to buy this unit with a Cat pump. The engine runs strong and I think Yamaha has a great engine. Now the downers. The pump was leaking the first time I hooked it up. one of the wheel rims was rusted right out of the box and doesn't roll well. I'm afraid the good Cat name is being used with inferior parts. I question if this is a true Cat pump. Rumors out there its a homelite. I returned the washer. Very disappointed.

Far exceeded my expectations.
5 Star Review   By halfpint on Home Depot - May 16, 2012

The Cat pressure washer is everything the product description said. Every aspect of this machine is of superior quality. The machine was very easy to assemble, starting and operation are just as easy. By far my favorite feature is the motor idle down. In my opinion no one can go wrong if you purchase this mahine. Not the homeowner nor the professional.

Great Pro Grade Washer
5 Star Review   By Professional on Home Depot - May 13, 2012

What can I say. Everything on this pressure washer is solid, nothing flimsy or cheaply made plastic, just solid quality components. Yamaha motor - starts 1st or 2nd pull every time, cold or hot. CAT pump - lots and lots of pressure - free seals for life. My local Home Depot didn't even have this machine on display - had to get one off the rack - not sure why. Other internet based stores sell this machine for 3 and 4 hundred dollars more - go figure. It is a better machine than Ridgid and other high-end machines offered.

Great Pressure Washer!!
5 Star Review   By SBinIN on Home Depot - May 6, 2012

This thing has plenty of power, starts great, and will pretty much do anything you need it to do. It even makes it more satisfying that I purchased this unit two days before they raised the price to $999 (I paid 799). To the person that complains about having to choke this unit during start up, get used to it. It is called CARB emissions. They are making these engines as efficient as possible. You are always going to find that late model engines will require choking to draw the gas due to the elimination of unburnt HC emissions.

Solid Build with Quality Parts,
4 Star Review   By Inginero on Home Depot - Apr 27, 2012

I am pleased with the CatPumps 3800 psi pressure washer. The unit was packaged well and only required minimal assembly. As a full sized system, of course, be prepared to use a ramp or call upon a friend getting it in and out of your truck. I probably could have opted for a lower priced, consumer grade unit. I was ultimately swayed by the quality Honda engine and Triplex pump. The unit is a bit more than I need for most of my home projects, but it sure is nice having the extra pressure and GPM throughput when I need it. The only grip I have thus far is common to most systems: the tip tray. When the unit is humming away, the tips tend to vibrate out of their holders. It would also be nice if there were additional tip slots or a bucket for additional accessories such as soap, foam, rotary tips, etc. All things said; I am happy with the unit for the price and would buy it again. One other thought. The hose length and quality is great. I don’t find myself missing an integrated reel , especially as I reflect upon the fact that most of the units that boast this feature have shorter and lower quality hoses.

Great Pressure washer.
5 Star Review   By Tommy on Home Depot - Apr 25, 2012

Searched around for washers with at least 3200 psi. Saw this one and read the reviews. The price that it was advertised at was decent ($799) for the features. A few places had washers to compare with it, at about half again the price. Had to drive to 6 hours to pickup, because of CARB. Was well worth the drive. The washer has great pressure, you can clean paint off with the red tip. The idle down feature is really nice and fuel economy seems decent ran for several hours washing on less than half a tank. The only feature I didn't know it had because it was not stated and maybe all pressure washers have. Is a soap dispensing port. It works really nice and will draw some soap. All in all this is a great machine and the Cat pump works flawlessly. The Yamaha engine works great also. Well worth the purchase

POWER
5 Star Review   By CleanFix on Home Depot - Apr 25, 2012

This pressure washer will cut the workload in half. The powerful 301cc engine starts easily and runs without pause. This unit puts out more pressure than anything else on the market. It is clocked at 3800PSI but that may be an understatement. I would recommend this unit to anyone who take pressure washing seriously. With that being said, the average homeowner does not need this pressure washer.

3 Star Review   By brian on Home Depot - Apr 1, 2012

I picked this unit up instore, two weeks ago, It was a breeze to get it up and running. I have been looking at new pressure washers for the past year, I loved the features, and most of all that it had the cat pump. I was not happy to find out that the (CAT) PUMP, is made by homelite. i have had no luck with homelite in the past, AS of now my review is based on the cat pump, that homelite purchased from them. We will see how this unit holds up in the future. The seals for life, is great, however i have never had a problem with the seals going on the pump. I recommend spending the extra money and getting a true CAT pump

5 Star Review   By MrHappy on Home Depot - Mar 29, 2012

Granted, I have only used an hour. However, this machine produces serious results! Wouldve taken 3 hours with my old 2400 psi model. Which by the way, literally got knocked over by this from 6 feet away. Ha!!! I was missing gun hanger brackets in the box. Easy as pie phone call to the manufacturer. Assured me 3-5 days they will be here. I will be putting this through its paces over the next few weeks. Will update afterwards Signed Mr. Happy

I don't think you could do better than this pressure washer
5 Star Review   By Gregg on Home Depot - Mar 25, 2012

I am in the carpet cleaning business and a CAT pump is what is used on 20,000. carpet cleaning machines they have the best reputation in the industry. You can't go wrong with that pump and a Yamaha engine. The machine is amazing and works great. I have used it 4-5 times in the last month, it starts right up and the sound of that motor is quiet yet has a low rumble like a harley. It actually turns heads when the neighbors walk by. The feature of the motor only throttling up when you press the trigger also sets it apart from the rest and saves wear and tear on all the moving parts of the machine. It is heavy and would take 2 people to put it in a vehicle.

This is the power washer to get!!!
5 Star Review   By BDub on Home Depot - Mar 14, 2012

There is little assembly when the product arrives. Start up is easy if you follow the directions. Its very powerful but also gentle with the various nozzels. Ive washed my deck, driveway and even my car (with no harm to the paint)!!! The low oil indicator light lets me know when its time to fill er up and the idle down technology is a great gas saver on longer jobs. I would recommend this product to anyone who is in the market for a commercial grade power washer.

Nice machine
4 Star Review   By Sparky on Home Depot - Mar 13, 2012

I purchased this pressure washer based on the positive reviews I read such as ease of starting on the first pull right out of the box. I did not have that experience. It did start on the third pull which is certainly acceptable but even after running for several hours it does not re-start unless the choke is on which is troubling to me for a hot engine. it does start on the first pull after releasing pressure on the wand but only if the choke is on. Once it is started it is a great cleaning machine and the idle down feature is great too.

Nice machine
4 Star Review   By Sparky on Home Depot - Mar 13, 2012

I bought this pressure washer based on the engine and the positive reviews such as started on first pull every time. I did not have that experience. It did start on the third pull which is certainly acceptable however, even after using this for several hours it will not start unless the choke is on. I am not a mechanic but when the engine is hot I don't understand why it won't start on the first pull without using the choke. Once the choke is on and pressure is released on the wand it starts on first pull. It is one more step in the process to start it but once it is started the machine cleans great and the idle down feature works well too.

OUTSTANDING VALUE, EXCELLENT QUALITY
5 Star Review   By Carl on Home Depot - Mar 4, 2012

I did my shopping for pressure washers this spring; and this unit turned out to be a great purchase. Previously bought a R**g*d 3000 psi but it only lasted 5 hrs until the seals blew. Tool it back to Home Depot and they gladly returned my money. It was a good move to spend a little more money to get this one. This unit ROCKS. Definitely professional grade. Have cleaned my driveway, house, truck and boat with this monster. Be careful not to strip paint; because this unit is capable of it. Packs a kick but I like how the pump scales up the pressure to full blast when you press the trigger..instead of the blunt kick you get when you press the trigger on some other models. This unit also comes with Lifetime Seal Replacements...you can get replacement seals once a year after you register. Get this water blaster. You will not be disappointed. ..

This is a quality product!
5 Star Review   By Guiness on Home Depot - Feb 28, 2012

I did a lot of shopping around and this power washer has the best features (like idle down,) and the best quality you could ask for in the $800 dollar range. My only complaint is that I couldn't find this model anywhere but home depot. Anyway this thing is a man's power washer! I replaced a couple old Sears craftsman 2100 psi units that I've had but there is something to be said not just for the pressure but the gallons per minute (gpm). This unit makes quick work of washing a vehicle and then the driveway afterward. I love the idle down feature. I couldn't find this feature on any of the other big units I shopped for and the fact that the whole thing is endorsed by Cat Pumps means they put some work into designing this thing. Other features that I like are the 50 foot quality hose, quick connects, oil for both engine and pump are included, large flat proof tires, and the fold down handle. You must hold the trigger while starting the engine but that is no different than any washer that I have ever used. I am very happy with this purchase.

Best on market for price
5 Star Review   By Scottyc2 on Home Depot - Nov 1, 2011

Started 1st pull, engine is strong as is the pump. Cut my work time in 1/2 compared to my 7 year old Honda. Used it probably 100 hours now and still starts 1st pull. Get it if you need it!

Two thumbs UP!
5 Star Review   By M1911A1Shooter on Home Depot - Sep 18, 2011

this unit was easy to assemble (mount wheels and a few small parts) and operate. It started on the fourth pull and ran beautifully. I did not have any problems restarting the engine hot or cold. the quality of construction and power is on par with commercial units I've used. I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend this washer.

Great Water Blaster!
5 Star Review   By brownbwb98 on Home Depot - Sep 13, 2011

Before purchasing, I had a mechanic, with over 20-years experience with pressure washers, look over the washer's specs. He gave it a thumbs up. Excellent engine and finest pump on the market. After assembling the minor parts on the washer, I followed directions for start up. Tried it out on a steel tubing fence that I am re-painting, which has three layers of paint. It took off all the gummed up layers of paint right down to the original Ospho and RustOleum primer. I could have taken that off, too, but I only want all the paint off. It also knocked off rust down to the metal in a few areas where the paint was nicked or scratched. Tried out a small section of concrete driveway. It made it look like the concrete had just been poured and finished. This pressure washer has power. I have to really hold on tight to the gun and side handle or it will fly off. Starts on first pull (but you have to pull trigger to release any built up pressure). The idle down feature is awesome and keeps the pump from heating up. It is well balanced on its carrier and moves easy. The Yamaha engine purrs like a cat when running. In summary: This is an awesome pressure washer at an excellent price. I looked for three months and read numerous reviews on several dozen washers before buying, and I could not find a better washer or value. I highly recommend this pressure washer for heavy work.

HOLY COW!!!!
5 Star Review   By Waltg on Home Depot - Sep 3, 2011

This washer is great!! Starts by second pull every time. An unloader valve would have been nice to make the starting easier but I can live with it by pulling the trigger while starting. The idle down works great too. Absolutely love it and would highly recommend it to others.

amen fl
5 Star Review   By amen on Home Depot - Aug 19, 2011

i bought this pressure washer about a month ago-- i made sure it was full of oil then filled it with gas , connected the water lines, then held the trigger down to remove all the air from the lines and pump-- the yamaha engine cranked on the first pull, this engine is very easy to start and really puts out the power--i read all the reviews before i bought this pressure washer and was satisfied it would do a good job for me also, but was concerned about the cranking problem which proved to be no problem at all for me, if you are looking for a very good machine that should last a long time then this is the machine for you -- i highly recommend this one

This product really works great
5 Star Review   By JeffM on Home Depot - Jul 23, 2011

The very first day I received this power washer, I used it over 12 hrs straight. I worked great. I used it on concret to get stains and to clean the driveway. The concret looks brand new again. Other reviews says its hard to start. I never had a problem with this issue. I just had to make sure to pull the trigger on the wand to releave the pressure and you can pull start it much easier. Otherwise it is very hard to start.

Hard to start but looks cool
2 Star Review   By joeblow5 on Home Depot - May 18, 2011

This is my first pressure washer that I have purchased. I have been waiting for over two months for this unit to arrive at the store. It looks great and sounds great when you here the iddle drop down when letting go of the trigger. I used it only for an hour so far. I had some trouble staring the motor, I will try again this week.

Rock Solid Perfect
5 Star Review   By Davebomay on Home Depot - Apr 30, 2011

The CAT 3800 PSI 3.5GPM model is without a doubt the most well engineered pressure washer on the market. I have used pressure washer that had more PSI and GPM but CAT found the perfect number combination. More than enough power and water flow to clean EVERYTHING. Easy assembly, solid construction, and when I say solid, I mean everything; real rubber wheels, hose, spray tips, wand. 1st pull starts everytime. Does not 'walk' as some units do. CAT pump with Yamaha engine best combo you can get. The only caveat emptor is that this is a pro unit, not for everyone as this thing kicks, and you do need a little muscle to use it.
