Great value
5 Star Review   By NJ23Hills on Home Depot - Jun 18, 2013

This is my first mower and works exactly as advertised. It was easy to set up and use. Its lightweight so using it on my hill is very easy especially since it isn't a self-propelled unit.

I love my new mower. Easy to assemble and handle. I love how easy it is to adjust the blade. It is easy for woman to handle as myself. It is built very well and seems to be very safe around children. I was quite pleased with the cost and is quite a value for the buck!

Small Yard, No Problem
4 Star Review   By lrene on Home Depot - Jun 9, 2013

This mower works very well and is similar to the mower I was replacing (also electric but from another store). It is easier to push, takes up less space to store, and mulches well without leaving big clumps of grass on the lawn. It was simple to put together out of the box and I was mowing within ten minutes. This mower does what I need without a lot of hassle. I have a fairly small yard with some play structures that I have to mow around and a small incline. I use a fairly long extension cord and as long as I start near the outlet and work out from there the cord doesn't usually become an issue.

Great Mulcher
4 Star Review   By FWC2 on Home Depot - Jun 5, 2013

Operates extremely easy, but mowing with a cord is annoying to say the least. Takes getting use to, ordered this one by mistake and should have sent it back and got the cordless, which I prefer and had before. Having the cord allows you to complete an entire job, which the cordless always didn't, so I like that feature. Handles and stores easily.

Easy to operate
4 Star Review   By PJK17 on Home Depot - Jun 4, 2013

I have never owned an electric lawn mower before, but I am getting used to it. The path isn't very wide compared to my gas mower, but worth the convenience. It does take twice as long to mow my lawn, but now that I am older, it is easier than pull starting a gas mower and pouring gas in the tank. I think it would be great for someone to make an attachment for the cord to retract automatically, and extends as walking. This should attach to the handle to keep out of the way of the blade.

This product has some great features
3 Star Review   By AnnW on Home Depot - May 28, 2013

Reasonable performance...gets the job done.... trying to get used to maneuvering the extension cord. I would have liked for it to have a feature to propel it, because it has to be 'pushed' to some degree. But that's not too big of an issue, because it is lighter in weight than the average gas powered mower. It is considerably quieter too. And I do enjoy not having to pull a cable cord to start it.

PLUG IN HAS DIFFICULTIES
2 Star Review   By stya on Home Depot - May 26, 2013

I used this mower on loan from my local neighborhood tool association and then ended up buying one. With both of the mowers the extension cord did not stay connected to the mower very well...it was very loose on the one I used to borrow and somewhat loose on the one I bought. So, needless to say, I was very surprised when the extension cord got stuck on the mower's outlet prongs...and ended up having to completely pull out the prong from the mower in order to dislodge it from my extension cord. The mower's ability to cut is fine. I am returning.

I'm a 60 lady... who after 40 years needs to cut my own lawn.... it is easy to put together and works fine.... so far. My sons don't like that I did not get a power mover... but I did not want to deal with gas... and starting a gas motor... this one works easy.

Had it delivered to the home in the box and instructions to get it out of the box were even simple so I didn't have to lift just roll it out. After a bit of fumbling to get the handle connected that it was ready for use. Does a great job and is easy for me to handle.

Piece of garbage
1 Star Review   By jojo on Home Depot - May 14, 2013

I bought the same model a few years ago. Knowing it will only last a few years I bought it again and it's made cheaper than the first one! I will NEVER waste $200 again like this. I will just put that money into getting a good one.

Nice, lightweight, even cut.
5 Star Review   By Lowey on Home Depot - May 13, 2013

This is my first electric mower. I was not sure that I would like it, but surprisingly I do. It is lightweight weight and easy to move about. The cut is even and I do not have to go back over what was just mowed. Our grass is very thick and wet due to constant rain. I do have to stop often and empty the bag and unblock the grass discharge area. This would be with any mower at this time-just too much rain. This mower has really proven itself to me this year!

Good value electric mower
4 Star Review   By tony8gj on Home Depot - May 7, 2013

If you are OK with electric mowers and managing a power cord while you mow, this mower is worth it. While this mower has a plastic feel to it, it cuts and puts the grass into the catcher well. I have a total of around 3600 sq. ft of lawn and it takes me about 40 minutes to cut it all. Do make sure you purchase using a platinum credit card or AMEX to double the warranty period as most credit cards will do.

Just an average mower
3 Star Review   By DocD on Home Depot - May 7, 2013

I got sort of what I expected . . . a mower that does not require much maintenance. It starts every time and I don't have to worry about gas or oil. The obvious downside is the cord is a huge drag (literally) and I forgot what it was like to use a mower w/o it being self-propelled and how much more difficult that would be.

great mower
4 Star Review   By mipat33 on Home Depot - May 7, 2013

Mower was easy to assemble. It is extremely easy to use. Does a good job cutting, I just wish it was wider. It cuts up small sticks in the yard, while mowing. I have used the bag while chopping up my leaves from the winter, that was easy. This is my second Black & Decker 18 in corded electric lawn mower, my first one lasted 18 years. I am looking forward to the next 18 with this one.

Love it!
5 Star Review   By beginner on Home Depot - Apr 24, 2013

This mower is great. I am a small, older woman who has never mowed before. We have been using weedeaters way too long on what used to be a cow pasture. It was too hard for me. I love the ease of use of this mower. It is light weight, cuts grass beautifully, cuts close to the edges, and no fuss with gas and all that care. You just have to be sure to keep the electric cord out of the way. I recommend it!

EASY TO SET UP. ONE WHEEL "FROZEN." STILL AN ISSUE.
4 Star Review   By RBT1 on Home Depot - Apr 16, 2013

Easy to set up but wheel "frozen." Bagger easy to use. Power sufficient. Sized correctly. Few metal parts which should be long lasting and non-rusting. Worry about durability.

Great for a small yard
4 Star Review   By BOOSHIFIED on Home Depot - Apr 10, 2013

Love this mower. Easy to start and use. Just mow in a pattern to keep the cord behind you. I also throw the cord over my shoulder. It has great power for an electric mower. The only time it bogs down is when the bag gets full. Depending on how long your grass is you may née to empty the bag quiet a but.

Product very easy to use.
5 Star Review   By Robin052 on Home Depot - Mar 30, 2013

It took me no time to put the handles onto the mower. I also liked that the lever for the height of the cut does all four wheels at once and very simple to do.

5 Star Review   By Ronco on Home Depot - Oct 9, 2012

Replaced my 19" with the 18". The 18" is lighter and has the same motor. Mulches better and is easier to use on the hill in my backyard. I'm very happy with the product.

Ideal for Manicuring Small Yard
5 Star Review   By NRGLawyer on Home Depot - Sep 25, 2012

For our small yard with new sod, this is an ideal mower: fast, sharp, quiet, clean cut. Of course, you have to be careful with the wire and plan the mowing so that it is always behind or in the most recently cut strip. Grass bag is great for grass and leaves. Bought it because it is one of the few mowers that can cut at 3" or more.

Good mower and does a great job cutting the grass
4 Star Review   By Debbie on Home Depot - Sep 19, 2012

This mower is so easy to start and is great for people who do not want to fuss with gas and oil. Mowing the grass with an electric mower is just like vacuuming the carpet with a cord. You just have to be careful of the cord. It is lightweight and easy to handle.

this is an OOPS
2 Star Review   By lep1 on Home Depot - Sep 18, 2012

product does not stay at height that is set. jumps to very low cutting height. Will never ever buy an electric lawn mower again, the cord is always in the way, gets tangled around trees etc. Customer service and shipping was exactly as promised. This machine is not.

Outstanding Mower, Lightweight and Powerful
5 Star Review   By SUBGUY on Home Depot - Sep 9, 2012

Excellent power in a corded electric mower. I have a steep front yard but small. Took about 15 minutes to cut with a gas mower (without bagging). I borrowed a cordless but found it was difficult to maneuver on the hill because of the weight (about 70 pounds). With the smaller cut width (18 inches), and repositioning the cord, I get the yard done in less than 20 minutes. This mower is less than 50 pounds and even with the proper gauge cord, it is very easy to get around the yard. It has plenty of power to mulch grass that is even a little high. I have not tried the bagging attachment yet. Things you need to consider when getting a corded electric mower: - Ensure you have enough outside electrical outlets to cut everything and only get 100 feet from the outlet. I only need one. - Ensure you get the proper gauge extension cord. This one required at least a 14 gauge cord. So, you should have or buy a 14 or 12 gauge, 100 foot extension cord. - Need to consider the cost of the cord in your purchase. A 14 gauge cord is about $40 for 100 feet and 12 gauge is about $60-80. - Finally, when cutting with a corded mower, you need to rethink how to cut the grass for "cord management" as to not have to stop to reposition the cord. I picked this up at the store and that was an outstanding experience.

Cheaply and poorly manufactured
1 Star Review   By Maria on Home Depot - Aug 20, 2012

Very disappointed. I purchased this as a replacement for the 875 I had had for 10 years. Immediately I noticed the difference in quality when trying to change the mowing height. When I tried to mow the first time, I noticed one of the front wheels was not turning because it was hitting the body. This was a manufacturer defect. I returned the product immediately. What happened to B & D? very disappointed in their poor craftsmanship.

Super mower for our tiny yard!!
4 Star Review   By Austex1969 on Home Depot - Aug 7, 2012

I relied on all of the positive feedback/reviews this mower has received. I don't typically make purchases like this online but since this model was not available in the store, I had to go this route. Mower works extremely well and I've gotten used to cutting the grass with an attached extension cord. The mower itself feels a bit plastic-y and almost like a grown up toy but overall the quality is good and has been doing a great job so far!

Not Sure
3 Star Review   By easygoing on Home Depot - Jul 17, 2012

have used it once only. Light weight, smaller than my previou B&D 18" electric mower hence easier to get into tight space between my roses. Suction very good, leaves the lawn clean. It does look cheap and miss a little cuts here and there just like the other reviews say, but I'm not a perfectionist about maintaining my 3k sq foot lawn, I just hope it will last longer than 10 yrs and trouble free like my old one . The buttom of the box was completely open when delivered, could not believe that flimsy giftwrap quality tape was used to seal a big box containing a lawn mower, that was shocking.

Very happy with this mower
4 Star Review   By bewnr on Home Depot - Jul 5, 2012

Bought it today to attempt to tackle a very neglected yard. The yard was over knee high and was very dense with weeds. This mower surprised me with its ability! It destroyed everything without much fuss. My first electric mower also my first bag mower. Couldn't be much happier. Electric mowers do take more time as you spend a lot of attention to the cord placement... but no gas to buy, no fumes to breath and it's much quieter. My only complaints are that it really should have included a short cord. I have several heavyduty cords but they have spliters on the end, and because of this they wouldnt work. Needed to spent an additional $30 to get a cord that was the right fit (cord has to plug directly into mower). The cord "hitch" that helps with management and keeps it from unplugging on accident is very poorly designed.

"Saving the Environment" vs. Beautiful Mowed Lawn
3 Star Review   By DG415 on Home Depot - Jul 3, 2012

Take the blade off and sharpen it. The most significant downside is its inability to mulch the way a more powerful gas mower does. You're "saving the air" but spending twice as long mowing your lawn due to the small blade and its struggle to cut longer grass efficiently. You end up go over areas twice or mowing more often. Sharpening the blades helps, but you still need to mow more often. It's only "valuable" when you consider the environmental impact.

Good, but not Great
4 Star Review   By RetiredDIY on Home Depot - Jun 25, 2012

I own this mower for over 2 years. It does a good job cutting the grass and I do not see the clippings. My only complaint is that the height adjustment lever falls to a lower level every time I hit a bump. B&D should develop a pin system to lock the lever in place. It is only 42 lbs. and at 64 years young, I am still able to lift this. I make sure I clean it after every use and occasionally lubricate areas that may get rusted. Overall, good value but not yet great!

Mower is easy to assemble and use.
5 Star Review   By Linda on Home Depot - Jun 22, 2012

My old electric mower died and I had to get a new one. When I got this one, I was excited. I used it, and I loved it! It is very easy to use and quieter than my other one. I was finished mowing my lawn in half the time.

Nice mower...It's like vacuuming your lawn
4 Star Review   By rscottd on Home Depot - Jun 21, 2012

Assembly was simple. Has enough power to mow dry grass with 2-3 weeks of growth. Bagger works great, easy to use & empty. One lever height adjustment is a handy feature. Managing the electric cord is a pain & slows you down a lot. Stopping & starting is so easy. My major complaint is that the lever that you pull to make the mower run is flimsy looking, made of a soft, flexible plastic that looks like it could break easily.

Glad I bought this mower
4 Star Review   By Mike on Home Depot - Jun 12, 2012

I bought this mower after looking at many reviews, and so far I am very pleased with its performance. We have a small lawn, and the corded mower is perfect for us. It has the power to go through six inch tall grass if I walk slowly. Cord management is simple--I work away from the power source and keep the cord slung over one shoulder. It keeps me from stepping on the cord, and I know where it is all the time. The cut can be uneven in places, but that is usually when the grass is wet or has been trampled. I suspect that sharpening the blade would improve this. Love the grass catcher for mulching our vegetable gardens.

2 Star Review   By jennifer on Home Depot - May 29, 2012

I was recommended this model of electric mower via the online chat with Home Depot. I got it and it was indeed easy to set up and use. I have a small flat yard nothing challenging. The third time i used the mower..it gave off a burning smell and died.. that was it..done. HD was great about giving me a return as I had 90 days and it was only about 28 days in. I moved back to gas powered. I wouldn't recommend this model of electric lawn mower.

Light weight, easy to use, maintain and store
4 Star Review   By MowingMama on Home Depot - May 22, 2012

This mower is perfect for me - easy to start - and for my yard - mostly flat, but has a steep slope on 2 sides, and I can use the mower on the slope easily because it is light weight. There is no maintenance or gas to store, and I can keep the mower in the basement. The added bonus is I can hear my son calling for me when I am mowing!

Does a nice job!
5 Star Review   By Cathy on Home Depot - May 8, 2012

After years of using a flip handle B&D mower, this mower takes a little getting used to. It was easy to assemble, does a good job and cleans up easily, too. By using the MM1800 six times instead of calling a service, I'd saved enough to pay for the machine.

5 Star Review   By Grandmum on Home Depot - Apr 26, 2012

Being female and nearly 70 with 2 recent surgeries under my belt + my green leanings, this mower really hit the bullseye. It's quiet and easy - no more gas, oil, and pull-starting. I began with bagging when I scalped the lawn, but now I mulch. Use my cord to mow, edge, and blow all in the same area - then move on. I love this mower! Great value.

Great alternative.
4 Star Review   By PBStL on Home Depot - Apr 24, 2012

This is a great alternative for a gas mower. As I have a small yard that only takes 10 minutes to cut an not that often, I don't have to worry about a dirty carberator or bad gas. Additionally, I don't have to store gas in my garage anymore. I chose the corded mower as I don't want to have to spend an arm and a leg on a replacement battery in the future. I expect this mower to last my lifetime.

Good purchase for small lawn
4 Star Review   By Kirk on Home Depot - Mar 20, 2012

This corded mower works as expected for my small lawn. I have about 500 sq. ft. of lawn and this works great for it. The cord is not much of an issue if you figure out the best way to mow ahead of time...start closest to cord and work away.

Black & Decker 18 In. Electric Push Mower Mm1800 Mm1800
1 Star Review   By member MtLance - Feb 26, 2012

Strengths: Mulches great and could be modified for extreem long life cycle. Motor is same that Black and Decker used for over 12 years and is a powerful 12amps. not the 6amps non mulching B&D

Weakness: sucks in dust to the motor so bever turn uoside dowb it will destroy, poorly designed switch at handle and cover screw holes if you plan on ever using screws they will rust or get clogged with dirt. Screws are midsize standard and star key combo. and not

The cowling (motor cover) and underside suck dirt into the motor area eventualy colgging the motor with dirt or grass older models had about 6 holes this has around 30 so if you buy plug holes or at least remove cowling and clean once and a while and cover screw holes could last much longer.

Excellent, I love it!
5 Star Review   By Andcas on Home Depot - Feb 1, 2012

I have to start with the fact that I was already used to using an electric powered weed eater, so the cord has never been an issue for me with using this electric lawn mower. You will need a long extension cord depending on the size of your yard. I've owned this product for several months and it has not failed me once, it runs like new every time, picks up to the bag very nicely, and leaves my lawn nice and even. If you have never used an electric and plugged lawn mower all you need to do to avoid issues with the cord is start from the spot closest to the cord and mow your way away from the plug, this way it should never be in your way. It is not heavy, so pushing/lifting is not an issue.

Does what it's meant to do; cut the grass.
4 Star Review   By King on Home Depot - Jan 17, 2012

Pros: Plug it in and go. Will do a decent job cutting your grass. Doesn't pollute Never runs out of gas. Pretty quiet for early morning grass cutting. Cons: Navigating with the extension cord can be tricky Has a little trouble getting past the overgrown grass Lawn looked a little uneven when you finish cutting For a regular sized lawn, get at least 120 ft. cord. Overall, it does what it's meant to do. You push it so, if you use the bag, empty it ever so often cause it does fill up pretty quick and adds weight to your push. Removing the bag is a snap. The bag does keep the lawn clean of clippings. Two people can work it better, one keeping an eye on the cord while the other just cuts away. It's also pretty quiet. So, it's good for a regular cutting of your lawn that's not too big. No gas and no pollution really makes it a logical choice.

good mower, but does throw a lot of dirt at me
5 Star Review   By Gerl on Home Depot - Jan 10, 2012

I had an electric mower years ago and was so glad to not have to deal with the gas engine variety...but had forgotten how much dirt all mowers throw at the operator who is stuck with walking behind! I guess this is why many people prefer riding mowers!

Decent little mower
4 Star Review   By AZDesertRat on Home Depot - Dec 13, 2011

We don't have a huge yard (only 50' x 25') so this little mower is just the right size. Has different height settings to cut as close as you'd like or not. Easy starting, fairly lightweight. Comes with a mulcher that is removable and a catching bag. Piece of cake to assemble. No fumes, no gas, no oil. Drawbacks: It's electric, so the length of extension cord is what limits the mowing area.

Pretty Happy with ii
4 Star Review   By snowy90 on Home Depot - Dec 2, 2011

I have owned this product since May 2010. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with it and have not had any major issues. I live in a 3400 sq. ft house (livable space), and it has both a fron and back yard that are pretty big in size. I have been using this mower to do the yard throughout the year, and it has given me good results. There were times in the sumer that I did not cut the grass for 2-3 weeks, and it still cut pretty high grass as well as weeds that had grown. I always use the collecting bag option as supposed to throwing the grass back into the yard. If you grass is somewhat high, you will have a hard time using the mulcher option with this mower. The adjustable height level is very convenient, and it gives you a wide range options as far as how short you want your grass. The shortest setting is pretty short, and it has like 4 more levels. Since this is an electric mower, it means you have to get used to mowing with a cable, and that can be frustrating at times. Especially if you have a front and back yard like me, it means you have to unplug the extension cord from one place to another. I have found "efficient" ways to cut the yard with the extension cord to avoid not running over it, but every yard is different. Depending on what type of yard(s) you have, having a cord vs. a gas mower may mean an extra 30-60 min of work, so please take this into consideration. Also, the height of the handles by which you hold the mower may be a problem for tall people. I set it up for the tallest setting, and I am 5'10, and it still feels like it could be a little higher. There are some ruber pads on these handles, and after a while they start wearing out, so I suggest you wear gloves for better confort. For the kind of yard work I do, this is been a very good investment.

4 Star Review   By BenW on Home Depot - Nov 19, 2011

The electric mower works very well. It bags the clippings very nicely. The only hassel is as with all electric mowers, except the ones with a battery, is keeping up with the electric power cord as you mow. I recommend the purchase of this mower as a good buy.

Good overall electric mower
4 Star Review   By Holly on Home Depot - Sep 27, 2011

This is a lightweight, easy to handle electric mower . I have had three of these now , and this one seems more "plastic". My only major objection is that the lever to raise and lower the wheels is now on the left side of the mower is is very stiff and awkward to operate. Previous ones were on the right side and were not plastic. How many of the public are left handed?

Awesome !!!!!!!
5 Star Review   By GardenMan on Home Depot - Sep 21, 2011

I truly like Black & Decker Products, they make there products to exceed the consumers expectations. I used there Lawn Mower today for the very first time, I Plugged it In and Before I Knew it I Was Done. Just make sure you have a long enough extension cord to cover the area of your lawn, other than that its a breeze, The assembly was also a breeze, just take it out the box and screw in the handle and your done. The only complaint that I would have if that would be its bulky, and its kinda hard to maneuver, but my previous Lawn Mower has Reel Mower so it an upgrade. But Other Than That I Love It, I Recommend it Especially if you have a Small Lawn, its Beats trying to balance your gas and oil, having to pull a throttle and having to smell those awful fumes.

Black-n-Decker makes a competent product which I found at a good price online at Home Depot plus free shipping. I chatted with an online helper and received an additional 10% off for purchasing that day. Unfortunately I had to refuse delivery initially because it arrived in a completely open dirty box. I was quickly shipped a brand new one after my phone complaint. I am pleased with my purchase.

4 Star Review   By Peggy on Home Depot - Sep 13, 2011

The mower worked well for my small front yard. The light weight made it easy to manuever for a mower that is not self-propelled. Easily starts up. Only problem was with electric cord. Had to be very careful not to run over it which made mowing the lawn a little slower than I would prefer.

5 Star Review   By AMATT on Home Depot - Aug 6, 2011

No surprises. This machine was fairly easy to assemble. I used my common sense, not the instructions. And I was very pleased the first time I used it. The wheel adjustment made it easy to get the height of trim I wanted, and the power cord wasn't a problem. The cord loop on the handle definitely helped. I'll never go back to a gas mower.

Pro's and con's
3 Star Review   By Cat5 on Home Depot - Jul 14, 2011

I got an electric mower because I was sick of struggling with my gas mower that I could hardly get started, and if it shut off would have to wait at least 20 min. to start up again. I have had this mower now for two mowing seasons and there are pro's and con's: Pro: After struggling with an old electric mower, the ease with which this turns on and off as frequently as you want is like magic. This mower is light weight and I can push it with only one hand, even up a moderately steep hill. (I'm a semi-active female in my 30's) The assembly is easy and it can be stored compactly. It is quiet, so I can be more aware of my surroundings. It is easy to switch between the bagger and mulcher, and both work well. It is eco-friendly and you don't have to change the gas or oil...relatively maintenance free. Con: The engine is not as powerful as I expected. It takes more time to mow the lawn: First, learning to struggle with cord makes mowing take longer. Even after you get a system down it can cause minor setbacks. Second, the instructions suggest overlapping half the previous row you mowed, meaning you have to go over each area twice. Doing this there were still so many spots left uncut that I had to go over most places 3 times, or just leave my lawn looking choppy. And even then there would be many missed blades. I found just going over each row twice before going on almost eliminates having to go over spots 3 times, but you will still have missed blades of grass. If the grass gets too long, you have to walk *slow* to get the grass cut. This makes it take even longer. For small areas of the yard where you can't do rows, you sort of have to "vacuum" the grass since you have to go over every spot 2 or more times. Bottom line: Over all this mower is good if you don't mind the extra time it will take to mow and if you don't mind having a lawn with blades of grass sticking up every foot or two. Using this mower takes 2-3 times as long for mowing because of having to go over spots 2-3 times and having to walk slow. I feel like it wastes my time when I have to go over *every* spot more than once. If you have a small lawn it might not be so frustrating. If you have a medium to large lawn (I have to use two plug-in locations to mow the lawn, and use every bit of the 100 foot chord in 3 directions: front, side, and back yards) and don't want to spend 5-6+ hours to mow the lawn, I would suggest a different mower.

Good lawn mower
5 Star Review   By Linda on Home Depot - Jul 9, 2011

I bought a Black and Decker electric mower because I was tired of dealing with the ordeal of getting my gas mower started. I thought about buying a battery-powered mower but did not want to pay the additional money. I am a 64-year-old woman, and wanted a mower that was easy to use and relatively light to push. The Black and Decker has filled those requirements and done a nice job on my lawn. It was also simple to assemble, and it is easy to switch back and forth between mulching, using the side discharge chute, and using the rear bag. Nothing is ever going to make me enjoy mowing the lawn, but this mower makes the chore a lot more tolerable.

Good mower for small yards
4 Star Review   By weedwacker on Home Depot - Jun 25, 2011

Just purchased and have used it twice. It was easy to assemble. It's quite and has adequate power for weedy and fairly high grass. I haul it out of our basement when I need to use it and it's lighter than other models and easy enough to lift by myself. Mulching feature works very well. Haven't tried bagging yet. Seems well made and we'll see how it holds up. Might have given it five stars, but I don't know about the quality and longevity yet.

Fulfills all of my requirements
5 Star Review   By hopefloating on Home Depot - Jun 20, 2011

I purchased the electric mower to save on gas, oil, etc. but mostly to save my back struggling to start my old Craftsman gas mower. Absolutely LOVE being able to quickly start and stop this mower and have not experienced any physical discomfort using the mower. I am getting better at coordinating the extension cord and I know with a little bit more practice I'll be a "pro" at that, too, but even the instruction manual explains the best way to mow your grass accounting for the cord. I also love how easy it is to change the cutting height: one single lever that can be manipulated with only one hand. How awesome. No more wrenching and fighting with four separate wheels to try and move up or down and then get the mower started again. The machine is very quiet - even my dogs will hang out in the backyard while I mow now because it's not so noisy and deafening. The single complaint I have is that the mower sometimes misses some blades of grass while my old gas powered mower never skipped over anything no matter how fast I was pushing it. With this mower I have to go back over some sections twice but if I go slow enough, less blades are missed. So that aspect is not a huge deal to me. Overall, I really love this mower and how easy it is to use. I did NOT want to purchase an "electric" with a rechargeable battery because I know replacement parts are very expensive and I read too many reviews about the charge not holding for the entire yard - with this mower my only limit is the length of my extension cord :-) and then I just move to the next outlet. I would recommend this mower to anyone - other reviews stated the handle does not extend far enough for a taller person (I am a 5'10" woman) and I think it's fine...just extend your arms out a bit and get a good tricep workout!

5 Star Review   By ppan16 on Home Depot - Jun 13, 2011

Putting the mower together was simple. Changing the grass cutting heights is a snap. I was surprised that even at the highest, the lawn is not too tall. I especially like the fact that it is so light weight and easy to maneuver. The set up for the extension cord attachment prevents accidental "unplugs" which is great.
