Ariens Compact 22
3.5 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jan 16, 2011

The Ariens Compact 22 is a mid-cost snowblower with a clearing width of 22". This snowblower gives you the choice of a 169cc Subaru or 208cc Ariens engine, both of which have six forward speeds and two reverse speeds. The snow chute of the Compact 22 can throw snow up to forty feet, and the 205º Quick Turn chute control allows you to choose the direction in which you launch it. The 13" x 4” Directional snow tread tires of this snowblower are designed to perform in slippery conditions. This snowblower differs from the higher cost Compact 24 in that the Compact 24 has a more powerful Briggs and Stratton 205cc OHV 900 Series engine, a 24" clearing width, and a more compact 17.5" housing height (as opposed to the Compact 22s 20" housing height). The Ariens Compact 22 is constructed entirely of steel. Features Engine choice: 169cc Subaru or 208cc ... PROS: (1) starts with one pull consistently, electric starter works as well (2) solid construction, feels sturdy and reliable (3) mounted light makes working out in the dark much easier (4) manual is very detailed, describes every component in detail (5) powerful action works through the snow quickly ... CONS: (1) needs to be checked for minor adjustments before use (2) switching from locked to unlocked hubs is tricky, cant be done on the fly

Solid compact machine-received as described
5 Star Review   By MADRO on Home Depot - Dec 18, 2010

Just received my machine and the whole process was painless. Ordered online and it was delivered to a local service agent who put it together, got it running and then called to schedule an appointment. Arrived exactly at my appointment time and droppped off in my garage. Was as described and ready to go. I can't wait to use it for the first time. 5 stars up to this point. I need to see how the engine handles the snow. I will provide an update once I use it. So far - happy with the purchase.

Built like the Big Boy's
5 Star Review   By JohnInPA on Home Depot - Dec 12, 2010

I havent had snow to blow as of yet. I did allot of shopping around on-line and at different outlets. I will say this thing is SOLID. It has good welds and heavy guage steel throughout. Nothing that appears to be of a lessor quaility. While out today, I looked at many blowers in all price ranges and this one stands up alongside those costing much much more. American Made !!!!! Home Depot's service and free " White Glove " delivery were just the icing on this cake. I will update my review when I get to move some snow. John

my sno blo purchase
5 Star Review   By vanssnoblo1 on Home Depot - Dec 12, 2010

Great looking machine, purchase went as offered, even if no sno this year the purcase price is worth just to not have snow, so either way i got a great deal, great quality quick shipping, one negative that is the electric start cable should automaticcally be shipped as it does not make sense buying a electric start sno blower that you can not start electronically because some buearocrat says you have to order it additionally i am dissapointed because of that. thank you i happen to like Home Depot. jv

Free Set-up and Delivery -- Bring on the Snow!
5 Star Review   By Goose116 on Home Depot - Dec 8, 2010

Did a lot of research and the Ariens came out on top. Free set-up and delivery from our local Ariens dealer. They did a great job explaining the machine's controls and started it. We like the choice of pull- or electric-start. Waiting for our first deep snow here at Wintergreen Resort at 3600 feet. We have Model 920012 -- it's "compact" and fits nicely in our garage.

Can't Wait for the Snow!
4 Star Review   By TradHomes on Home Depot - Nov 15, 2010

The snowblower arrived completely assembled from Home Depot's local supplier, which was a very pleasant surprise. I've had Ariens products before and this one started up first pull just as one would expect. Also has a plug in electric starter (not battery) so that will be convenient for cold days. No snow yet in Virginia but we'll be ready this year.

great ordering experience + good snowblower
5 Star Review   By JFJJMJ on Home Depot - Oct 30, 2010

I have never bought a piece of power equipment online so I was a bit hesitant - but the Home Depot experience was great! It took only 5 days from the time I ordered the snowblower until it was sitting in my garage. The snowblower was shipped from the factory to a local dealer who assembled the unit, delivered it to the door and tested it on site....AND all for the online list price! Unlike some other local or online stores, there were no extra fees for delivery, lift gate fees, assembly, etc. Kudos to Home Depot!! As for the Ariens snowblower, it seems very balanced, has great fit/finish, is easy to start and seems easy to manuver. The ability to unlock one or both axles from the drive train is a very useful feature. I am actually looking forward to the first snow when I can use the machine.

22" compact snow blower
5 Star Review   By idoletime1 on Home Depot - Oct 17, 2010

I ordered my Ariens 22" compact snow blower on the Internet. I received it in six working day. The nearest Ariens dealer delivered the blower and gave me a run down on how it operated and he also started it on the first pull. It came completely assembled. I purchased the Ariens because of the workman ship and the quality. All you have to do is compare the 205 degree quick turn snow throwing chute with other brands to see the quality of this product. This is a well built machine.

Just ordered
5 Star Review   By Gogger on Home Depot - Oct 1, 2010

I just ordered the Model # 920012 after doing a bit of research. A key factor in my buying this one and not a slightly cheaper one is the mounted light - might not seem like much but I've been out in the dark working snow before - the light will be worth every extra penny spent! I'll edit this review or write a new one once I get a chance to use this machine. I bought an Ariens riding lawnmower this spring and love it. For jonas from Delmont,Pa. - as for what oil to use, the specs here on the Home Depot web say: Recommended Oil type : SAE 5W30 and it is for the internal moving parts of the engine. Even though we probably won't get snow for a while yet I am happy (even if we get NO snow this year) knowing I'll be more than ready for it when it does come. And I fully intend to service neighbors' driveways up and down the street. Any work can be fun with the right tools!

what is it for?
5 Star Review   By jonas on Home Depot - Sep 15, 2010

I've read both manuals but can't dertermine the purpose of the black oil dip stick. What part of the engine does this oil protect and what weight is it ? Other than this it seems all the other components are explained and understood very easily.I'm looking foward for the first snow so I can impress the neighbors with this fine product. Oh by the way if it makes any difference I have model 90012.

came set up nicely.. no snow yet though
4 Star Review   By 6strings on Home Depot - Aug 20, 2010

I know it's August, but I was delivered the Ariens 920012 today and it's been assembled well, with all the adjustments (read your manual) I checked them all ! I'll make a minor scrape plate adjustment but that's not bad. It started with one pull and the electric starter worked well too, but again it’s August. What's odd for me is the locking hubs, though I think I'll leave one wheel unlocked for move ability 90% of the time, going from unlocked to locked may not be easy because you'll have to line up the holes, this operation is not 'on the fly' buy any stretch. But I doubt that will become any major issue.. Bring on the snow I'm ready.
