Not that easy but a good shed
4 Star Review   By Shedowner on Home Depot - Jun 14, 2013

It took two men working at it steadily all day to get this shed finished. I do not see how anyone could do it in less time and am skeptical of other reviews. The good news is that it is an excellent shed. It is sturdy, looks nice, and holds plenty of stuff. Just be aware that it is one huge project and buy a lot of pizza's to pay your workers.

Very good storage shed for the price
4 Star Review   By Steve on Home Depot - Jun 7, 2013

I have assembled a few plastic storage systems over the years and found the Big Max 7X7 from Rubbermaid to be one of the better ones structurally. I appreciate that it has a metal support truss about 100 screws to go into some pretty tough plastic. The instructions were easy to follow and it took me about 3 hours to build it after I had built a level foundation out of decking materials. I did find that one of the floor pieces was larger than the other and the instructions did not account for the difference in size. I’m not sure if the size difference was a quality issue or if it was designed that way. That difference did make it difficult to align 2 of the side walls resulting in seams that I thought were larger than they should have been. I’m using the shed to house 2 Newfoundland dogs and will be cutting holes for an air conditioner and dog door. I’m sure it will work out very well for that purpose.

Inexpensive. Not cheap
5 Star Review   By Swampscott on Home Depot - Jun 4, 2013

I am delighted with my Rubbermaid shed. I'm glad i read previous reviews: it took us (2 60+ yr olds) c 5 hrs to build, but i knew it would take 4-6. It's attractive, sturdy durable (so far) and plenty roomy: i have my (8 hp) snowblower, lawnmower, barrells, ladders, hand power lawn tools and fertilizer, insecticide etc. in short, i got everything out of my garage. Should have done this years ago

Great shed easy assembly
5 Star Review   By scoop on Home Depot - Jun 3, 2013

well the box says two people but one can do it. Put the shed together by myself and had no problem about 3 hours from open box to finish. the roof latch system is outstanding. I have read about the trouble leveling out doors but I had no problem. I build a wood base to put the shed on(it comes with plastic floor) it was level and doors were a snap. The instructions were easy to follow and written pretty good. once assembled its tough and heavy and sturdy.

Great shed
5 Star Review   By David on Home Depot - May 29, 2013

Great shed a good level foundation is a must. I put mine on 6x6 pressure treated timbers set on block and having the blocks on gravel for drainage. Then the build was easy I had myself my son, and his friend. Start to finished took about 5 hours that's including the foundation. Read the direction a couple of times and before long you will have a great looking functional shed. I wish they gave a couple more wall clip for hanging peg board, but I got two completed walls with what they sent. I'm sure I can order more wall clips if I wanted. The only problem I had was one of the plastic door windows was cracked, but one phone call, and the new one showed up in about a week. All in all great shed

Make sure your ground is level. The building came on time. The material is thin and warped a little. For the price- you get what you pay for. Had it delivered-not sure if that was worth the price however I did not have a car big enough to get from the store. The directions were clear. It took three people to put together. We took a lot of breaks so it took about 4 hours. Not sure and not confident that it will last thru a storm. Everything just seems so thin. We had previously owned a smaller version and it lasted thru 2 hurricanes(just lost roof), numerous storms and a tree falling on it( crushed roof). But it will hold the wheelbarrow and asst tools. No lock and no tie downs were included and the door handle is very cheap plastic. Just a large little tykes for adults.

Great shed - where are the accessories - shelves, hooks, etc?
4 Star Review   By drewthom on Home Depot - May 13, 2013

Shed structure is excellent, but shelves and hooks that Rubbermaid has on its site don't seem to be available anywhere!?! I built some third party shelving units for against some walls, but why can't I get the accessories that are made for it? According to Rubbermaid's website, they make these, but only Home Depot sells them: - Tool and Sports Rack - Utility Hook - FastTrack 5 Piece Kit But items are not in stores or online. Grrrr, Home Depot!

Don,t hesatate to buy this shed
5 Star Review   By KenS on Home Depot - May 12, 2013

Well looked over all the sheds ,it all came down to the 7x7 shed. I decided to put it on a wooden platform whitch turned out to be the right choice . Mke sure the platform is level or the doors won,t close when finished. Being in my late 60's it took me six hours to put it up. Did need help with the roof can not be done alone, definitely need two people, one outside an one inside. The instructions were good , I would advise reading the instructions first it makes it easier good luck.

Looks nice, easy to assemble, clear directions, good price
5 Star Review   By KGinOregon on Home Depot - May 9, 2013

A retired mom and son put this together in 2.5 hours. I (mom) built a level base the day before from 2x4"s, 2x6"s, deck screws and plywood. That took a couple of hours. Instructions are clearly written with diagrams. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN ORDER! If you do it goes up quickly. Need two people and a step ladder - one to hold things and push down on the roof, the other to slide, snap and screw things together. We used a drill driver for the bizzillion screws, but took it real easy so we didn't strip the plastic or over tighten. There were extra screws and nuts in case you drop one. Looks good, Plenty of room for mower, tools, ladders and garden equipment. Seems sturdy and water tight. I'll put flashing around the base to protect the plywood and neaten it up. Skylights are handy, double doors are roomy and pad lockable. Should be able to rig shovel holders and maybe shelves. I'm very happy with it.

Poor Factory Packing
1 Star Review   By PartialShed on Home Depot - Apr 23, 2013

Not sure how to rate this shed as it is only partially constructed. Got a free day to assemble and was able to get three sides up. I had the right number of panels but the wrong one on one side. I had to contact Rubbermaid and they sent out a replacement panel for free. Called on April 16 and it was shipped from St. Louis to NJ on April 19. Supposed to be delivered tomorrow April 24. Got my fingers crossed they sent the right one. There should be better Quality Control. Rubbermaid said it is "human error" and they picked up the shipping and we shouldn't complain any more. Contacted Home Depot and they gave a 10% credit for inconvenience. Home Depot may want to revisit this supplier and their attitude it is just "human error." Maybe if they loose their jobs it won't be "human error" rather, customers speaking with their feet and walking away from the product line . . .

Well thought out
5 Star Review   By RXBLO on Home Depot - Apr 18, 2013

Simple to assemble, just read on-line instructions a few times before you buy or open box. One person can assemble if not windy, a two man job for roof installation, does really speed things up. All contents fit perfectly and easily. Was 4 screws short but i'll get over it. I built on a treated 2x4 frame 16 inch on center . Dimentions 7ft X 7ft with 5/8 ply. This fit perfectly with about 1 inch drip overhang at front. Only thing that could be improved on is the rigidity of doors, even with latch's it is a little loose, framing could be more beefy. For the price it is a fantastic shed, well worth buying !!. Looks awesome set up, which took me 2 hours alone and one more hour with a helper for the roof. Bought in USA cause it was $ 250 cheaper than home, believe it !

Looks good, feels large inside, can be assembled by one person + aides.
4 Star Review   By Mongo on Home Depot - Apr 16, 2013

Reading reviews about this shed prior to purchase revealed few if any people assembled the shed completely on their own. Everyone required some help on the roof installation or some other part of the assembly operation. I found that it can be done by one person taking his/her time and a few additional assembly aides. (1) One standard 2x3 stud , (2) 2 inch fiber reinforced Scotch tape, and (3) a 50 lb bag of sand. All vertical panels were stabilized in place for "snap" fastening into the flooring with the help of the stud and tape.. This was all that was needed to stabilize the vertical structural panels and gable subassemblies even on a windy day. The roof installation presented the most significant assembly problem on how to preload the roof panel from the outside and fasten the panels on the inside. My solution: preload the roof panel with a 50# bag of sand resting on 6' step ladder and the edge of the roof....fasten and move, fasten and move, etc. One significant design limitation was uncovered during the build. The door subassemblies depend on several screws embedded in thin plastic at the top to maintain the pivot point properly. I ended up having to reinforce this load point by adding two additional fasteners from the outside engaging the plastic parts and the steel channel header. The “feel” of the door opening and closing is now more fluid and the magnetic latch at the top gives a nice “snap” to final closure without encumbering the opening motion.

You Can't Beat This for the Price!
5 Star Review   By StageMgr2Stars on Home Depot - Apr 8, 2013

Love this shed. We just moved into our first home and we needed some outdoor storage. We hemmed and hawed because we had such a limited budget. We saw this sitting out front of our local HD and decided it was what we needed. I am thrilled with it! It took us (4 adults) around 2.5 hours to put together. Like the other reviewers say: "Read the directions and do it in right order!". Ours is placed on an existing (and level) 10x7 slab so once I buy some concrete anchors, it'll be all set. Still, even with all the wind we had yesterday, the thing doesn't look like it's going anywhere. It comes with the floor which is big because a lot of sheds I saw didn't have that. It looks great in my backyard and I'm now ready to buy all the things for it.

5 Star Review   By bill4641 on Home Depot - Mar 29, 2013

I was in need of another shed and did not hesitate to buy this one. I bought the same model (about 10 years ago) and it is still standing through severe snowstorms, high winds, hurricanes etc.....You need to follow the instructions exactly and do not skip steps, build a level foundation or place on level ground ,and you need at least 2 people ,it will take you roughly 4 to 5 hours to complete.

This is a great shed. It is the best for room and storage. It is spacious inside and is more room than I imagined.
5 Star Review   By jimp on Home Depot - Mar 17, 2013

Me and my neighbor put the shed together in about 5/ 6 hours. I would recommend 2 people to assemble.Especially the roof. All parts were with the box. Anyone can follow the assembly instructions which were a snap to follow. The only drawback was accessories were not sold in any store. You have to go online to order hooks, hangers and shelving. Overall a great item I would recommend to anyone.

5 Star Review   By PAShedOwner on Home Depot - Jan 14, 2013

This is my second Big Max shed. The first was smashed by a falling tree, so I went and got another just like it. It is solid, watertight, and a good size for my outdoor garden tools. It is reasonably priced and easy to put together - other reviews give more details on that.

Terrible quality control - parts do not fit
2 Star Review   By pablito on Home Depot - Dec 27, 2012

First the good news - all necessary parts were in the box (if the parts had fit), and the finished product looks nice. The bad news - many parts did not fit according to the drawings and instructions. Door head jamb was longer than the cut-out for it in the gable - only by 1/2", but it completely prevented the jamb from fitting. After cutting the gable the jamb was installed, but longer screws were necessary because the plastic intended for its screws had to be cut out. Rafters were longer than the slots for them in the roof pieces. Again only by 1/2", but again requiring the roof pieces to be cut, again leaving a void where the screws should have been installed. We purchased this expecting it to go together quickly. If the parts had fit as advertised it would have been no more than an afternoon. However with all the modifications - and re-reading instructions because parts didn't fit when we really expected they should fit - assembly took three long afternoons. I have built several barns, decks, screen porches, finished basements, remodeled kitchens and bathrooms, etc. After this ordeal I would never recommend one of buildings. We could have built a storage shed from scratch in less time with much fewer headaches. Extremely disappointing - I had always believed Rubbermaid products were top notch.

Side walls deform
3 Star Review   By UH60pilot on Home Depot - Nov 26, 2012

i have had this product for a year and the side walls have started to deform. The product comes with accessories to hang shelves but I recommend you not try this. I hung a shelf on each of the three solid walls. I put very light items (less than 10 pounds per shelf) and that little weight is too much for the walls to support once the shed heats up to the summer temperatures. My recommendation is you save your money and invest in a traditional wood shed!! I wish I had.

Pretty good shed for the price.
3 Star Review   By Shedbilderz on Home Depot - Nov 20, 2012

The shed was easy to put together. My 6- and 8-year olds helped me out, and we completed it in two weekend mornings. The manufacturing and assembly tolerances aren't great, but good enough for a plastic shed. My biggest complaint is with the doors. They drag on both the upper and lower doorway surfaces. A larger doorway compared to the doors seems like a reasonable design change to make the doors easier to use.

Incredible Little Shed
5 Star Review   By doitourselveszo8 on Home Depot - Nov 10, 2012

My wife and I are dedicated but realistic do-it-ourselvers. We bought this shed on sale, and waited for a break in the hotter-than-ever-recorded summer to put it up. We're in New Jersey, an eighth of a mile from Barnegat Bay. There was a break in the heat and humidity back in September, but a coastal storm was closing in. We're both in our 60s, so we took our time on a Saturday and put the whole thing together (I had done all possible pre-assembly on Fri). The roof proved to be a bit of a workout, but we got it all together. The coastal storm with gale force gusts and blinding rain came the following night, and I admit to having been skeptical about the skylights' holding up. When the storm passed, there was not a hint of leakage anywhere, and the empty shed had not budged on the block foundation I had made for it. Since then, we endured Hurricane Sandy. We were very fortunate in general, with only some favorite trees now permanently leaning. The amazing thing to me is that shed remained perfectly dry inside and has not shifted an inch, despite not yet being over-top tethered to meet local code. This is an amazing shed and I can't recommend it enough. Two important notes: take the time to make a level base for it, and follow instructions to the letter. I could not believe the relatively short, self-tapping screws used in connecting the rugged resin pieces could possibly hold up to the winds we get here regularly, not to mention in a hurricane! I can't praise this product enough!

GREAT SHED
5 Star Review   By steve on Home Depot - Nov 10, 2012

This shed has held up to several MAJOR storms(sandy being the last one) over the last 5 of years and has done so without so much as a drop of water inside or any damage. I bolted(comes with pre-drilled holes for this purpose) the included flooring onto a deck I made of 2 4x4 pressure treated 1" plywood and this shed has held frim in the most strongest winds without a problem. Putting together was easy(about 4 hrs with breaks) as along as you plan ahead, take your time and follow directions.

Rubbermaid Big Max Storage Building
4 Star Review   By givemetoystools on Home Depot - Nov 8, 2012

I had the original Big Max for some 10 years. Wonderful shed. Water tight, roomy, never cracked, easy setup and breakdown. The newly designed shed has a few very nice features -- skylight adding light inside the shed, windows in the door adding more illumination; however, My skylight cover cracked within a few months of use. Rubbermaid promptly replaced the skylight cover. ---- better fitting corner so the roof does not raise. The original design had a built in design flaw -- the roof would separate from the corner walls. This new design does not have that problem. The roof fits snuggly AS LONG AS IT IS ON A LEVEL FOUNDATION. Not level and the shed just does not want to go together, stay together or the doors will not close securely. LEVEL THE GROUND!! Saves hours of headache. --- finally, the shed assembled in a reasonable amount of time. Took me one hour by myself to put it up. The downside of this shed is the the plastic is thinner than the original, the shed gets hotter inside than the original design and the floor cannot tolerate the heavy shelving that the original design tolerated. Our floor began splitting and cracking by the end of the first year. However, RUBBERMAID sent a replacement floor piece free of charge even though the shed was 16 months old. A note here though. The original shed's floor never cracked and I used it for over 10 years. In fact, just sold it on craigslist last night. The shed has very good resell value.

Excellent shed
5 Star Review   By Mike on Home Depot - Oct 16, 2012

Putting the shed together was relatively easy, but I did need someone to help me with some of it. Just needed a second set of hands to hold walls and the roof. The most difficult part was creating a level foundation before building the shed. The area I was installing it on was uneven, so I used landscape timber and filled it with dirt first to level it, then used a stone base and pavers for the shed floor to sit on. I think it looks great and should be very durable. Since it isn't wood, you need special brackets to hang hooks and shelves. You can't screw into the sides, they won't hold. Otherwise, I like it a lot.

This is a high quality storage shed.
5 Star Review   By Messhuggenah on Home Depot - Oct 10, 2012

This shed is sturdy, well-engineered, and good looking without calling attention to itself. My kit was complete; no missing hardware or misshaped panels. For my site I enlisted a neighbor who is a pro carpenter. He built a framed wooden platform of 2x6 treated lumber topped with 3/4 plywood and edged with roof drip edging to cover the exposed plywood edges. By digging and shimming and using a 6-foot level, we got this "foundation" flat & level! This is critical; there is very little leeway in fitting the doors and the panels are unforgiving in alignment. Assembly was straightforward but not trivial. You must follow the directions step by step. Furthermore, two people are essential. At times, one must be outside up on a ladder holding while the other is inside screwing panels together. A couple of portable saw horses and decent stepladders eased the job. For us it went like this: unloading, sorting panels, and building the foundation took under 3 hours at a cost under $150.00. Assembly of the shed the next morning took us 4 hours exactly. Admittedly having a pro with a truck full of tools helped. As he said when we finished; "This is a good product, sturdy and looks good. We got the job done with only minor cursing, no tantrums, no tool throwing, with just a little blood on the project, and finished in time for a late lunch--a good day!"

The product needs some fine tuning.
4 Star Review   By Bill on Home Depot - Sep 25, 2012

The product needs some fine tuning, the panels that should be the same lenght are not always. Drill holes are not drilled to line up. Punch outs could easily be done before packing. This my second one with both having interface problems. Both had a bad panel too. Last time I called for a replacement and service was great. This time I didn't have the luxery of time to wait. Most homeowners would have a heck of a time putting one up in a day.

Great Shed for my outdoor pots and garden tools
5 Star Review   By Linda on Home Depot - Sep 22, 2012

Before I bought this shed from Home Depot, I read all the posted reviews. Seemed easy enough and thought the price was great. Leveled the area planned 86 X86 with 12 X 12 cement pavers. Pre drilled holes for screws, put the windows in the doors, and added the sky lights. What an easy set up. I was very excited to follow everyone's suggestions and followed directions and it was up in 4 hours with help from our son in law. Home Depot helped us load this very large box into our truck and had to have 4 adults take it off and slide to the backyard. Very heavy !!! Look's Great in my backyard..One happy customer for sure

The product has easy to read and assemble directions
5 Star Review   By Gene on Home Depot - Sep 18, 2012

So far have only installed the floor since the weather hasn't been cooperating but it appears to be an easy to install unit. Should have it done in a day. Love the resin material since it's very durable. Already have a Rubbermaid shed but needed another so why not stick with the same brand since we knew it would be a quality unit.

It took us most of a day to put this up but it was worth it. It is so roomy. The roof took the most time but we figured it out. The instructions were good. Would buy again if we need one. This is our second shed by Rubbermaid. We also have the 3.5x7 and it is 5 years old.

A good product at a great price
5 Star Review   By herb on Home Depot - Sep 18, 2012

This was my second big Max Storage shed. It was easy to assemble the first time and easier the second. Just make sure you have a level base for the shed before you start. Home Depot's price was the best and came with free shipping which was very important to me. The box weighs 350 lbs which made store pickup impossible for me. shipping from other stores was several hundred dollars.

Storage unit has potential
4 Star Review   By Lizzy on Home Depot - Aug 26, 2012

Great in store special. Product is large and heavy requiring a truck - we rented one from home depot. Set up was tricky and surely needs two or more people for certain parts. Ours is still not lined up correctly- doors are off and won't close easily without pushing the entire structure. Directions could be more clear

Excellent product; Home Depot needs to stock brackets for walls.
5 Star Review   By none on Home Depot - Aug 19, 2012

The shed was easy to assemble. I ran electricity to a j-box with GFIC and a 4' flourscent light. I also added indoor/outdoor carpeting, two 6' x 18' storage racks, a small tool cart & peg board. The only minus is Home depot does not carry the brackets needed to hang the peg board. You have to go on-line to order those brackets. Overall a very good product that holds an amazing amount of goods.

Make sure you have flat level ground!
4 Star Review   By ShamuTV on Home Depot - Jul 17, 2012

Had to pull half down because I didn't have quite a level surface. one of the doors wouldn't shut right because the floor was too high in that corner. Also, to secure the walls to the floor I had to run deck screws through the bottom since the "snap in" didn't seem to snap. Once I put the screws in it made a VERY solid structure.

5 Star Review   By JoeConsumer on Home Depot - Jul 14, 2012

This is a decent sized shed, and it holds a lot of items. It assembled pretty easily with two people. The quality is good, and it looks great. I would recommend putting this on a level base. One panel arrived damaged. I called Home Depot, and within 10 days, I had the replacement panel. I never had to follow back up. One phone call corrected the issue.

Good Value/Solid Unit
4 Star Review   By Pete on Home Depot - Jul 10, 2012

Took 2 of us 6 hours to set up. It would go quicker if the manufacturer would pre punch out the screw holes. There's like a hundred holes to punch out before you can assemble the parts.Overall its a good quality shed and withstands wind and rain storms with no problem. A level floor footing is required as the doors may not open properly if the shed is not perfectly level. Only issue was with HD. I picked up at store and the shed was in a box but upon inspection we noticed that this unit had either been a display model or a return as the supports had rust on them and loose dirt was inside the box. Make sure you get a clean unopened package or inspect it before you haul it home.

Good Bargain
4 Star Review   By Pete on Home Depot - Jul 6, 2012

Mine has been up for several years now and doing fine. I had my kids help put up. NOT a one person job. Took about 4 hrs. I was concerned about the walls (locking into the floor) letting go in the wind, so I screwed the Walls to the floor with L-Brackets (2 brackets per section). That's why I only give it 4 out of 5 stars. The Sheds weight and what I have in there has held the shed down just fine. We've had some pretty good winds occasionally and it has not budged. I have it sitting on patio blocks to keep it 2" off the ground. Good deal for the cost (if you pick it up).

Easy to put up and very durable
5 Star Review   By jcole101 on Home Depot - Jun 26, 2012

After I got a level base for the Shed, I was able to put it up in about 4 hours. You should definitely get some help for the roof part of the Shed as you will want one person in the interior and one on the exterior to move parts around. It's pretty easy to follow with their instructions and the sample videos on Rubbermaid's website. I would recommend it to anyone that doesn't want to build a shed from scratch.

4 Star Review   By Mike on Home Depot - Jun 25, 2012

The shed was just the right size and at a reasonable price. It is very functional, and has more room than I thought it would. I put it together by myself, and it was really pretty easy to assemble, but you really should have two people. The extra set of hands is crucial at times. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with the product.

I PURCHASED AND PUT THIS SHED TOGETHER AND LOVED IT. BUT I LIVE IN COLORADO WERE THE WIND BLOWS ALOT. I WAS CONCERNED THAT THE WALLS JUST SNAPPED INTO THE FLOOR AND WERE NOT SCREWED IN OR SOMETHING TO SECURE THEM TO THE FLOOR. WELL ONE DAY THE WIND WAS BLOWING STRONGLY AND THE FLOOR AND SIDES SEPERATED AND AND MADE A TERRIBLE MESS OF IT SO NOW I HAVE A BIG PILE OF PLASTIC THAT IS NO GOOD.

5 Star Review   By DWinSD on Home Depot - Jun 24, 2012

Once you follow the directions about putting a solid foundation (you should've known A1B2), everything went together just fine. The fact that I can keep it outdoors and not worry about rust is a big plus for me. Saltwater air kills most outdoor metal sheds quickly here.

IT NEEDS A REAL FLOOR!
2 Star Review   By MisterG on Home Depot - Jun 4, 2012

This shed comes with a floor but it is not substantial enough to provide a good firm foundation for the shed. I now have to go back and shim the ground under the shed to be able to open the doors. What you really need to do is to build a level deck or concrete pad before erecting the shed. I feel that this product lacks a lot, both in it's description and in it's design. You also can not mount anything on the interior walls unless you buy special hooks and they really are not good for much. Over all I am disappointed with the shed and how much time and money was invested.

Best molded shed on the market!
5 Star Review   By JKM51 on Home Depot - May 30, 2012

This is my second Rubbermaid Big Max. I built a pressure treated wooden platform for each. When the base is solid, level and square these sheds assemble like parts of a watch. The first one is three years old but you cannot tell which is which. I placed metro shelving in each to maximize use of the large interior. If I were ever to need more storage room I would not hesitate to buy another. Excellent quality and durability when properly installed.

Outstanding
5 Star Review   By OCGUY on Home Depot - Apr 28, 2012

So I had 2 guys working on my house, doing some tile work, painting, etc. I asked them to put this shed together for me. It took ONE guy 3 hours, with a little help from his buddy with the roof panels. Shed is incredibly strong and good-looking. I've had another Rubbermaid shed for about 12 years. Other than a little fading from the sun on the roof, it is still good as the day I set it up. For this one, I leveled out an area in my garden and used some 12x12 pavers for the foundation which worked really well. Didn't feel the need to anchor it as I have already filled it up with hundreds of pounds of boxes I had stored at a storage facility. This shed will pay for itself in under a year.

great shed, easy to install
5 Star Review   By deuce on Home Depot - Apr 16, 2012

My wife and I installed this shed in about 6 hours over 3 evenings. The first step was confusing because of the wording and pictures, but after discussing "could it mean this, could it mean that" we came to an agreement and went for it because only 1 thing really made sense. It was the right choice, and from there we flew through the installation. The only gap I could find (concern was rodents getting in) was at the top of the door. The door has a pretty tight seal, but it is not designed to keep humans out as the doors can be lifted up and pulled out with some effort. I was looking for a shed that wasn't a metal shed (which doesn't last a long time in wet weather), but not priced much more than a metal shed. This Rubbermaid Big Max 7x7 fit the bill nicely at $549.

Good product for the price
4 Star Review   By aaris on Home Depot - Feb 9, 2012

Picked it up at the store. BARELY fit in the back of my Expedition (have the regular, not the EL), so when you're at the store getting it, plan accordingly. Took 3 guys from HD and me to get it into my car. When I got it home, I opened up the box while it was still in my car and took the pieces out. Putting it together wasn't too bad, but you definitely need a 2nd pair of hands when you're closer to getting done. Keep in mind...this is PLASTIC, so the parts are going to be a little hard to work with. Stuff isn't going to line up totally right, so you're going to have to muscle some of this stuff together. For the most part, it's pretty simple to get together as long as you follow the instructions to the T. All in all, great shed. Just using it to store the kid's bikes and other outside toys...and a few gardening tools. Works great. And as others mentioned, needs to be on a FLAT surface.

A Great Shed!
5 Star Review   By cupcakequeen on Home Depot - Jan 11, 2012

I own 2 Big Max sheds and love them. They fit big things like our snow blower and lawn mower perfectly. I bought our first one a couple of years ago and was able to get accessories like shelves and hooks for it, but this new one is a little different and I can't seem to find any accessories for this one which I am a little dissappointed about. The slats are different compared to the older one and the shelves and hooks won't fit in the new shed :( Besides me not finding shelves and hooks for the newer one, the shed is great, sturdy, not too hard to put together but definitely having a second person makes it easier. I also love how it looks like it has siding and shingles on it. Makes it look really nice in the yard.

Great Value, Sturdy, Attractive Shed
5 Star Review   By CDVD on Home Depot - Dec 15, 2011

5 stars for value (low price for a shed that nicely gets the job done). I'm going into my third winter in snowy Utah with this shed and I have had no problems with leaking or structural compromise. It looks great, requires no maintenance, is sufficiently sturdy and can't be beat in price--I paid around $500 on sale. I poured a pad that it sits on. The windows can break, so be careful there (one of my kids broke one by stepping on it by accident). One small defect on mine: one of the doors sometimes won't close easily because the metal sleeve that runs up and down the outer edge of the door moves up and catches on top of the door frame. If I knock the sleeve back down it's OK. Great shed for the price, the looks, the functionality, the durability..., and it's maintenance-free.

Big Max 7 ft. x 7 ft. Plastic Storage Shed - Well Done
5 Star Review   By Fred on Home Depot - Dec 6, 2011

This was a great deal. I had been looking at these for several weeks. The price on the HD website was $629 for quite awhile, but a neighbor had purchased one in June or July for $499. For whatever reason, I checked the HD Website again on Friday and the price was $499. I ordered it on the spot and picked it up that night. Easy install, good directions and it looks good. Very pleased since I have a wooden shed that has rotted out and needs to come down. Now I have someplace to put everything and start the tear down of the old shed.

The windows seem especially fragile.(i put a tiny crack that is invisible from the outside on 1 corner, you really have to tighten them down evenly and gently.

Good shed
5 Star Review   By KatVT on Home Depot - Dec 4, 2011

My husband and I put this shed together in about 1.5 hours. It has gone with us to two houses. Taking it apart and putting it back together again didn't take anymore time than the first time we put it together. The second time he put it together with the help of our two boys age 10 and 12. It has withstood North Texas thunderstorms and a bitterly cold winter with lows down to 15 degrees. No leaks! We put down a "foundation" of about 1-2 inches of sand to make a flat, even surface. It has worked like a charm. At the new house we put down flat rectangular paving bricks and then a 1 inch layer of sand. This is working great too. No complaints, thinking about getting another one.

This shed is a very good deal for the price
3 Star Review   By kekekiny on Home Depot - Nov 15, 2011

ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY a 2 person job, not so easy to assemble as advertised. This rubbermaid shed is a good product for the amount paid, HOWEVER, when I opened the box and started to assemble it after about a 1/2 hour, I noticed that the left outside panel had a 1" hole in it, right out of the box. I had already layed the beams, flooring and the 'right side' of shed first. There was NO WAY that I was going to attempt to box it back up and take it back to the store. In addition, some of the panels were slightly warped which made it difficult to screw in parts of the roof. My partner and I really had a tough time lining up the slots. BLUF, once the shed was in place it had the appearance of a superior product, only time will tell.

Pure Pleasure
5 Star Review   By Mike on Home Depot - Nov 8, 2011

I needed a new shed for quite some time and decided upon this Rubbermaid unit. I Have assembled aluminum sheds before and this is pure pleasure to put together in comparison. The roof can give you some stress if the unit isn't properly aligned but is still overall much more forgiving if you happen to be off by a smidge. Took under ten man hours to assemble.

Looks Terrific
5 Star Review   By Mike on Home Depot - Nov 1, 2011

Shipping took a few days longer than I expected but after calling 800 # I got exact delivery date in October. I hired a handyman with helper who had it finished in 4 hours. This included removing a 20 yr old 8 x 10 metal shed.. I had the handyman build a wood ramp up to the entrance floor for a sit down lawn mower to enter with ease.I also had my friend place a few anchors into the old concrete foundation to prevent wind gusts from tipping it over. The anchors added 30 extra minutes of labor but worth it. Finally, I bought a weatherproof lock for the doors. it looks great in my back yard!

Great purchase!
5 Star Review   By MsCordelia on Home Depot - Oct 27, 2011

This shed has value written all over it. The Home Depot staff helped me pick out a floating foundation that my friends helped install. Once I had a level platform, the shed went up in 5 hours. It probably would have been quicker, but I try to double check everything along the way. Everything fit as described, and went together smoothly. The only problem is the lower slide lock did not align with the indentation to lock it. It was off about 1/4". By that time, a tap with a screwdriver extended the indentation. It rained the very next day, and the shed stayed dry inside. We had a huge snow storm 2 days ago that ripped off my front awning from my home. However, the shed withstood the winds and a foot of wet snow, and stood proudly in the back. I think I want another one, and I can replace the storage rental I am paying for. It is beautiful, sturdy, and well made. The cost for foundation materials was under $200, so all together, I spent less than $750 and did not need to pour a foundation, or hire a contractor. I am extremely pleased with this purchase. I also purchased the solar light, but have not installed it yet.

Quick and easy to setup and maintenance free. At $499 this is the same price as the materials required to build a standard wood shed. While this shed is not of the same quality as a Lifetime shed and has a shorter warranty, it is also half the price. Lots of light inside because of the skylights and door windows. The vents are not screened. Unlike Suncast sheds, the Rubbermaid panels fit tightly together so no worry about rain or bugs getting inside. The roof is also well engineered with a steel truss and purlins for support so it shouldn't saddleback after a few years. Can't say the same for the Suncast shed on display at my HD. It doesn't come with purlins and the roof was already sagging. This shed comes with adaptors to attach shelf standards to the interior walls. Don't bother buying the steel shelf standards though - too expensive. You can build your own shelves out of 2 x 2 lumber and plywood and then use corner plates to attach your homemade shelves to the supplied wall adapters. When assembling this shed, use a screwdriver to fasten each screw so you don't risk stripping the fastening.

Easy Assembly

My son (44) built a great base for the shed. He put the shed up, by himself - no help - in an afternoon. All that was left for me to do was stand by the window and watch him. We really like this unit for storage.

Hands-down BEST storage shed, ever.
5 Star Review   By HappyJack on Home Depot - Oct 18, 2011

I bought a BIG MAX in 4/2003. It went up quite easy. The quality is outstanding; it's almost like new still. And most importantly, Rubber Maid really does stand behind their products. I needed to replace the lock lasp on my BIG MAX, and Rubbermaid sent my an upgraded new one for FREE! Now for the most important part: Today, I am going to Home Depot and buy my second 7 X 7 BIG MAX! Quess what? In 2003 I paid $498.00 and today I am going to $499.00! And it holds lot of stuff. I just spent the last 2 hours comparing quality and prices for other sheds. If you need a storage; this is the one for you. Trust me. I know.

Functional and easy to construct
4 Star Review   By Craigmb on Home Depot - Oct 18, 2011

This is a nice shed. For the most part I put it together by myself, but there are a few places you need two people. A good portable drill is a must. Be careful with the hardware , there are NO extras.

Shed is excellent
5 Star Review   By Squirty on Home Depot - Oct 4, 2011

This is the perfect shed for my 67 year old mother for her little putt putt riding lawn mower(won't give name brand but, there are small slopes you kinda have to scoot it along with your foot) and lawn tools. Took my daughter and I a couple hours to assemble but over all it's perfect.

Bought 7x7 Big Max based on sale price and reviews. Was able to carry shipping boxes in minivan to build site. Made a foundation of treated plywood and 2x4's. A solid, level foundation is necessary. Read instructions several times, gathered tools. Build time 4+ hours with wife's help. Dry inside shed after heavy rains.

BIG MAX STOREAGE SHED ASSEMBLY
4 Star Review   By smac53 on Home Depot - Sep 27, 2011

I was concerned when it took three of us to load the shed at the store and I knew when I got home it was just my wife and myself. We were able to open the box while it sat on my truck and take it off piece by piece and re-packaging it on the ground near the work site. There was only a few occasions during the assembly where two people were required. The shed looks better than the demo shed in the Home Depot parking lot.

I still love it 2 years later
5 Star Review   By SweetMama on Home Depot - Sep 27, 2011

I bought this shed and thought I would be disappointed down the line. It was easy to assemble with a few minor errors from my helper. The main thing is that I still love it years later. Great investment for me......

The dam thing did not leak
4 Star Review   By JPRH96 on Home Depot - Sep 27, 2011

As you can see i installed this on a wood deck 2"X4" PT and plywood , than on top of 6" of 1.5" stone so there will not be anything liveing under this unit .It also gives it some good drainage. I did not like the way it snaped the walls to the floor so i screwed long deck screws in the walls into the floor so it will not blow away in a strong wind. All in all it is a good clean unit went together in about 5 hours with my son and a few saints.Don't try doing it alone however it can be done. Merrimack ,NH
