Easy to install
5 Star Review   By Mommy on Home Depot - May 29, 2013

The product price was great and affordable. I used no tools for installation just like the package said which surprised me. I bought the product in store. I went ahead and changed the ball flapper as well. No more constant running water. This was the easiest home project that I have done so far. I bought one for my bathroom first and it was so easy I went back today and bought one for my son's bathroom. Installed in 15 min! Its a keeper.

5 Star Review   By SteveM on Home Depot - Jan 8, 2013

As long as you follow the instructions and have a toilet suitable for the product (they outline appropriate dimensions, etc) then this thing is great! I really like the cleaning feature, but even beyond that obvious difference... it has a lot of little engineering bonuses that I really appreciated. Good job!

Quick Install Works great
5 Star Review   By handyhomeowner on Home Depot - Jan 1, 2013

I installed the HC660 as well as the Flapper HFL190 on my Kohler 1.6 gallon toilet. My original was running much longer than normal, the flushes were not complete and the pipes would bang when it finished filling the tank. Installation was very easy, the adjustments take the longest but they are easy as well (total time with flapper and adjustments about 40 minutes). The toilet fills quickly, the flush is complete with the new flapper installed, and no leaks!

Works!!!
5 Star Review   By slthomasiii on Home Depot - Oct 21, 2012

Have a half bath in my home, the toilet was always leaking! It had the old style ball fill valve. Decided it was time to upgrade it to one of these, and go with a flapperless flush. All of it was easy to install and have no more leaks for now. Only time will tell. Also follow the instructions that come with this and it will make it alot easier to install!!!

4 Star Review   By miltdat on Home Depot - Sep 20, 2012

This product is very sensitive, so it may take a while to finish the installation. It detected a faulty flap immediately, so this feature is really cool. Overall, it is well worth the money, and it does the job as advertised.

DON'T FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BLINDLY!
4 Star Review   By RobertO11 on Home Depot - Aug 30, 2012

This valve installs very easily -- I had a much harder time removing the old valve than installing this one. Just don't follow the installation instructions blindly. They tell you that the top of the valve has to sit almost at the height of the tank itself. WRONG... or maybe wrong, it depends on how tall is your flush valve. If your flush valve is only half the height of the tank's overall height, you have to install the HC660 fill valve at its shortest height or else, water will overflow into the flush valve causing ghost flushing. Observe how it fills the tank and take the time to tweak it -- your wallet will thank you when the next water bill comes. Something super-awesome is the tank-cleaning tube. I thought it'd be just a gimmick but it actually does clean the tank or water deposits!

No assistance with problems with it
1 Star Review   By lomiri on Home Depot - Aug 10, 2012

The Hydroclean worked good for about 1 year. We noticed that the tank wasn't filling up more then an inch or two. started from the wall inlet, then worked my way down from the top of the unit troubleshooting. When I got to the nut that holds the unit into the tank It could not be removed even with two of us. contacted the maker, NEVER got response.

This this is neat!
5 Star Review   By AndyG on Home Depot - Jul 26, 2012

What a unique way of doing a toilet valve. I figured for $11 I'd at least try it, but this thing is great. To have the bowl fill up independent of the tank is great, and on my toilet the tube running from the valve to the bowl tube doesn't even get water. Everything comes from the tank straight to the bowl, and with the adjustments I have it using a bare minimum of water. It took me 10mins from start to finish, and now I'm planning on redoing the other toilet in the house just because.

excellent instructions
5 Star Review   By denver49 on Home Depot - Jul 11, 2012

As a homeowner for 50 years I've replaced quite a few fill valves in our toilets. First experience with this replacement made me really happy and I won't be using anything else in the future. The included instructions are good and somehow made more sense than usual. I appreciate the float lock most of all because at my condo they're always turning off water to the entire building whenever anyone has a plumbing issue, which results in a lot of crud coming through the lines when water is On again, often plugging the fill valve. Now I know how to lock the float and open the bathtub faucet to lessen this annoyance. Other adjustments are nice too. Recommend extending it all the way before attaching it to the tank with the plastic wingnut. Great job.

Keep your tank clean
5 Star Review   By AJC1 on Home Depot - Mar 30, 2012

I have purchased 3 of these valves over a period of time for my bathrooms. They are no harder to install than any other valve and work as well. What makes this valve exceptional is the tube on the bottom of the fill valve that keeps the tank very clean by circulating the water each time it is flushed. No crud or build up--It's great!

Delivers what it promised
5 Star Review   By Hugo on Home Depot - Mar 7, 2012

This product is very easy to install. Instructions look daunting but at the end the simplicity of the design helps a lot. It took no time to install, and it is very easy to adjust It really keeps the tank clean and it is much less noisy than the rest of the valves I have used. Good buy

The product is a water saver. It uses much less water.
4 Star Review   By micfol on Home Depot - Jan 24, 2012

It is a water saving device. Even the full flush water level is four inches lower than a standard unit. Installation was a snap. I guess my only CON that I would list is a single flush uses a very small amount of water, just bearly clears the bowl. If you hold down the handle it is perfectly fine for what it is suppose to do. I would recommend.

Make Sure To Tighten Up the Locknut
5 Star Review   By DIYboyz on Home Depot - Jan 11, 2012

The valve is cheap, functional, and easy to install. However, when you come to the installation instruction that says the locknut which locks the bottom of the valve to the bottom of the tank shouldn't be over-tighten by "2 clicks," it isn't true. When I followed this advice, I had minor water leakage at about 1 drop every 2-3 minutes. Not significant, but annoying. I finally tightened up the locknut by about 6 clicks and for sure no more water leakages. I hand-tighten the locknut, and the feel was definitely much tighter than just 2 clicks.

Quiet and easy to install.
5 Star Review   By kazzer on Home Depot - Nov 29, 2011

The product is extremely quiet in operation, mainly due to the feed tube lying along the back and at the bottom of the tank. A great idea. I had it installed in minutes without any hitches. I would suggest buying a new flapper valve at the same time.

Does what it says so far
5 Star Review   By Rich on Home Depot - Oct 27, 2011

Not sure about durability but it says 5 years so we'll see. But the product was easy to install and I like the smartnut so you know it's tight enough but not too tight. The extra flush hose really does make a big difference and I think is worth the 5 bucks extra vs the lower end model. If you think it's going to counteract the sediment from the drop in cleaners beware. it specifically states you cannot use drop in cleaners or it'll cause problems. Though I think it ruins them all probably

This product saved my marriage!
5 Star Review   By Qban066 on Home Depot - Oct 10, 2011

Tired of flushing the toilet in the middle of the night and hearing vibrating pipes that sound like an airplane landing? Replace your fill valve! I installed this HydroClean fill valve, and the house has never been quieter. The only con (which really has nothing to do with the product), was that I had to run out and get a new toilet supply line (one of those reinforced hoses @ approx $2.50) to replace the metal pipe that was hooked up when I built my house in 1998. Great product. It took a little while to understand how to calibrate it, but it works exactly as billed. Also loved the pipe that extends out and helps clean the tank (I never realized just how much gunk was in there).

Good replacement fill valve
4 Star Review   By ParkPlaceResident on Home Depot - Jun 18, 2011

This fill valve was easy to install and configure even with the multiple settings available. The instructions were clear and easy. It cleaned the tank VERY quickly upon the first flush; I didn't know it was sooo dirty until I installed this fill valve. All fill valves should use this type of design.

Super clean tank
5 Star Review   By Wilson79 on Home Depot - Mar 4, 2011

I bought this in addition to the HydroRight Dual Flush converter to update my toilet to be more Eco friendly. I didn’t think keeping sediment in the tank was a big deal until I found that some of that built up sediment later gets caught in the rim holes and can be a cause of flushing issues. I recommend thoroughly cleaning the tank and rim holes while installing this product. The jets are a little weird to see at first but it creates a whirl pool in your tank forcing materials to move and be flushed away…not letting them build up on the bottom of your tank. It took me about 25 minutes to remove, clean, and replace all parts.

Coincidence?
2 Star Review   By lFixxerUpper on Home Depot - Nov 10, 2010

It may very well be coincidental but I had a dramatic failure of the seal beneath the HydroForce Leak Resistant flapper and HydroClean Fill valve that came in a kit. I thought the flapper was merely askew but when I removed the lid from the tank, flushed and watched it fill then drain 2/3s of it's water I knew the seal was shot. I replaced the whole thing and that toilet is leak free. A few drops of food coloring that remain in the tank after a short while showed me that. I have just shut down the second toilet that has only the fill valve but is dropping water level and running too frequently for no reason. The jets of water startled me at first also and now I wonder if they are simply not more than the seal beneath the flush valve can take. It may be that it was simply time to replace seals, tighten nuts and bolts and tune up the toilets. I have replaced the full kit and will need to do that to the other toilet as well and I will not use the fill valve again just to err on the side of caution. I am intrigued by the HydroRight dual flush system but haven't committed quite yet although I like the idea of saving water. I may go that route with my leaking toilet but I will forgo the HydroClean fill valve for now.
