Useful tool for Work
5 Star Review

Strengths: Good in tight spots

Weakness: slow charge

I use this tool on a daily basis for my work , it is very useful on the flight line where an extension cord or air hose are not available. This tool dosent provide to much torque but that is good in the aviation business. Everybody who comes to use this tool will want to have this in their tool box.

Doesn't charge
2 Star Review   By member TEDBURR - Jun 20, 2010

Strengths: Easy for my 5 & 7 year old grandsons to help assemble or tighten nuts.

Weakness: The second time I charged it it didn't charge.

I liked it when it was charged. My grand sons, 5 and 7 were able to use it with little guidance. The second time I charged it I left it in the charger a week and and when I went to get it the light was green but the tool didn't work.

A usefull cordless power tool
5 Star Review   By member jwayn - May 22, 2008

Strengths: easy to carry around and use.

Weakness: not for working on cars and stuff.

I like this power wrench. It keeps a charge for a long time when not in use, and it's easy to grab for quick jobs around the house. It doesn't have heavy torque like what you would need for automotive work, but most of the things around the house that I've used it on, it's worked fine. You use it in non-powered to break a bolt or nut loose, then press the trigger and let the tool do the rest. Couldn't be easier!

Unique tool
4 Star Review   By member cwrssa - May 22, 2008

Strengths: Can be used in manual or powered modes

Weakness: Not heavy duty, packaging a little deceptive on true torque ability.

This has been a pretty good purchase. It takes the effort out of repetitious wrenching, like when assembling something from the store like prefab furniture, etc. It can't be used for heavy jobs though, since it's only got a 1/4 inch drive and isn't rated for heavy duty stuff. I've got an air rachet for that though. This is nice for quick jobs or ones that are far away from the air compressor.

Skil L-ion Power Wrench
5 Star Review   By member lnpak - May 22, 2008

Strengths: it's cordless!

For those who get sore wrists or hands when using a wrench on things, this is very handy. Just grab it out of the charger and it's ready to go. It's not too big for those of us with small hands either. It does twist a bit when the bolt gets tight, but that's to be expected with this kind of tool.

Neat cordless tool
5 Star Review   By member alnkp - May 22, 2008

Strengths: No electrical cord or air hose needed

Weakness: Small torque

I bought this because it seemed like a good tool to keep around the house. It's been good for light duty racheting. According to the info sheet, this won't handle heavy duty jobs, so be aware of that before you buy.

Another Skil lithium ion tool
4 Star Review   By member yanusbfd - Apr 29, 2008

Strengths: One-of-a-kind tool, lithium ion battery

Weakness: 1/4-inch head

I've really been sucked in by these Skil cordless tools with lithium ion batteries. I've got the little iXO compact cordless screwdriver and the bigger 10.8V drill-driver. Not having to charge a tool or keep it plugged into a charger when not in use is a huge convenience worth the cost of admission. This tool is the first of its kind I've ever seen, an actual cordless socket wrench. Skil is a Bosch tool brand, and Bosch itself makes a cordless impact driver, but it just looks like any other kind of small drill-driver type tool with a hex head. None of those tools has the elongated form factor of a socket wrench. You can't get any leverage trying to tighten a bolt with tool shaped more or less like a "T". That's not a problem here, because applying torque opposite the fulcrum point is how a lever works, and this tool can be used as a true lever. I'm kind of sucked in by how this widget works. Most cordless tools have a switch to change between the forward and reverse directions. Not this tool. Clockwise and counter-clockwise is selected just by rotating the knob above the socket connector, just as with a standard mechanical socket wrench. Alas, there is one shortcoming. This tool has a 1/4-inch socket head, not the 3/8-inch found on a standard socket wrench. While an adapter can be used to connect 3/8-inch sockets, the 1/4-inch head states the obvious: the motor can only deliver so much torque, and it's clearly not intended for the kinds of nuts and bolts for which larger sockets are used. For me, this has yet to really be a problem. I use an adapter to connect 3/8-inch sockets and allow the motor to do the tedious job of turning a nut or bolt after it is loosened or until it needs to be tightened by hand. I did notice one thing when using this tool for some bicycle maintenance. If you're a computer user whose wrists get sore when using tools that require a twisting motion, you will appreciate the Skil Power Wrench. It eliminates the need to twist your wrist when driving and removing nuts and bolts. The actual effort required to tighten or loosen a nut or bolt is applied using the tool as a lever and is exerted by your arm, saving wear and tear on and preventing your wrist from getting sore. That alone makes this a tool worth having.

Handy Dandy Tool
5 Star Review   By member min0603 - Apr 11, 2008

Strengths: Nice charging base, lithium-ion battery

Weakness: Weak torque

I was skeptical before I try one. I thought that it has very weak torque and won't be good for any kind of tough job. Well it's true, but I was wrong! Just remember that it is NOT air ratchet wrench. This wrench is rather manual ratchet with additional power ratcheting option. How many times do you use air ratchet for a small job like assembling furniture or driving few nuts? I wouldn't go through all the hassles of filling up the compressor and draining it after use just for few nuts. Power action will let you finish your jobs way faster than with manual ones. You use it like manual ratchet for initial loosening or final tightening. Power ratcheting action will do the rest. Now I really love this tool.

Nice for the little jobs.
3 Star Review   By member swabdairy - Jan 27, 2008

Strengths: Lithium Ion batteries

Weakness: It is small.

This tool was hard for me to decide on. It looked like it was to small for anything but the lithium ion batteries sucked me in. It works fine for small jobs. Small nuts and bolts and screws. Think smart this is not for lug nuts on your tires.

Perfect tool for around the house
5 Star Review   By Davie on Home Depot - Dec 10, 2007

The Skil Power Wrench is a perfect tool for around the house. Once opened, I immediately went to work fixing my coffee table, and it worked great. It has just enough power for the small jobs and turns into a regular ratchet for those times you need a little more torque. Over all I would definitely recommend it for the DIY'r
