Lots of music for an affordable price
4 Star Review   By member yoongwearn - Jan 14, 2007

Strengths: Beautiful sound, 61 keys, 102 built in songs of high quality, auto accompany feauture, 134 realistic instruments, sustain feature eliminates the need of a external sustain pedal

Weakness: "Springy" keys, not touch sensitive, loud startup volume, small display screen, not-so-useful manual and CD

This keyboard is an excellent musical instrument to add some music to your home. I am surprised and pleased by the realistic and beautiful sound it produces. As a college student away from home, this keyboard serves as a great and affordable substitution for my piano at home. Even when I don't feel like playing the keyboard, I can listen to the pre-recorded songs, which sounds really good. Multiple instruments eliminate boredom for beginners as it creates a wide range of music. On the down side, the keys on the keyboard are a little "springy". It takes more energy to play a fast song and tires my fingers too quickly. Although the display screen shows each notes when a sample song is being played, it is difficult to follow and learn. The manual and CD are not that useful to me. It contains some information about the keyboard but doesn't really teach you how to play it. As the keys are not touch-sensitive, no matter how hard or soft you play, the volume is the same. If you learn how to play this keyboard well, I bet you can produce orchestra-like music. Great keyboard for the money!

very good entry-level keyboard
5 Star Review   By member sesat123 - Jan 5, 2007

Strengths: easy to use, many features, good quality

Weakness: not touch sensitive, does not come with a music/note book

We compared with several keyboards in stores before we bought this one. The sound quality, the built quality are very good at the price we paid. There are many features we have not had time to explore. We do wish it is touch sensitive, but the sound quality is surprisingly good. We cannot wait to try when we got home, but there are no notes included in the package. Overall it is still a very good entry-level keyboard.

Great Digital Keyboard for beginner!
4 Star Review   By member datsel - Jan 5, 2007

Strengths: Prices, lightweight, and piano has excellent feature.

Weakness: No Power Adapter, Not touch-sensitive keys.

This is a great digital piano for the prices. I wasn't expecting much but this piano equipped with many feature. This keyboard plays so many songs and there are a couple ways to teach them to yourself. Only one drawback was this product doesn't came with the AC adapter and the piano key is not touch sensitive. Other than that, this is a great product.

Nice keyboard for beginners
5 Star Review   By member jiglypuffr - Dec 13, 2006

Strengths: Easy to use and suprisingly good sound quality.

Weakness: AC adapter and keyboard stand not included. Display is quite small.

I bought this keyboard to learn how to play the piano and I really love the sound of the grand piano feature. There are a lot of instruments that I have not yet had the time to explore, but so far everything is good. The display, which shows the notes that you are using, is small so its kind of hard to see what you are actually pressing. Unfortunately there is no AC adapter or keyboard stand included, so you have to spend a little extra for those. Instead of buying the Yamaha AC adapter which is ridiculously priced at $20, I bought a universal AC adapter for only $10 at Walmart and it works perfectly fine. Overall, it is a good buy, at a good price, for someone just beginning to play.

Sound performer
5 Star Review   By member lindguini - Dec 10, 2006

Strengths: Remarkable sound quality, numerous instruments, helpful display

Weakness: Difficult to read symbols above keys

I purchased this keyboard as a result of its good reviews, remarkable sound quality, and low price. The piano sound is authentic, especially when "Yamaha Portable Grand" is selected. This keyboard reproduces authentic sounds for many instruments and includes special effect sounds, as well. Most of the instrument sounds are nicely sampled without any artificial flavor. The keyboard quality is excellent and, in my opinion, it's better than the comparable Casio model. At this price, you won't get touch-sensitive keys for variable keystroke intensity (like a real instrument) but this feature is available on higher models. Overall, the YPT-200 makes all the quality sounds of the more expensive Yamaha keyboards (I'm sure the consumer-grade Yamahas use similar sound chips) at an affordable price. In addition, the quality of the keys and design are impressive.

3 Star Review   By member lynoio - Dec 1, 2006

Weakness: NO AC adapter

This is a fine keyboard, and is suitable for practice. The sound quality is good, but I have to find an AC adapter for it. I do not understand why the manufacture did include it in the package. I have to pay additional $20 for the adapter and it wastes time to find it.

Nice Keyboard
4 Star Review   By member 87aaron - Sep 18, 2006

Strengths: Works as advertised, good pricing

Weakness: No AC Adapter

Great tool for learning to play the piano. The price was competitive and it has more options than we will ever use. The lack of an AC adapter is a bummer, but seems to be par for the course among competitors. Also, the adapter retails at $20 so don't forget to factor that into overall cost.

Music in the air
4 Star Review   By member jhelam - May 16, 2006

Strengths: Cool features and options for the price

Weakness: No adapter included and manual is terse

YPT - 200 provides so many features like kind of instruments that are simulated digitally along with tempo control. Although I have just started using the inbulti lessons but they are indeed helping me in learning the subtle skills. Its a good buy for the price it comes at
