Excellent sound! Perfect for movies and music.
5 Star Review   By Yorick on Sony - Official Store - Mar 5, 2014

I really like the design, it looks sleek and fits in to my TV. The sound quality is amazing for movies and playing music from your bluetooth devices. The soundbar can really fill the room up and can go very loud (50 volume max) The subwoofer does a great job delivering heart pounding bass for those crazy action films (it can really shake the room up). For the price, it's an excellent soundbar. Great sound clarity, terrific bass, an excellent buy!

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH LG AND SAMSUNG TV'S USING ARC!
4 Star Review   By OSUFFAN on Sony - Official Store - Mar 1, 2014

Great sound!! HOWEVER....If you are looking to use the ARC technology this soundbar will not work as advertised with LG and Samsung tv's. You will find the chat boards full with this discussion! You will have to turn it on and off each time you turn on the tv...Or you will have to go into the AMP menu and reset the hdmi each time!

Very Nice
4 Star Review   By Bigk9312 on Sony - Official Store - Feb 10, 2014

Whenever I buy any product, I need to see it and mess with it before I buy it. I went to Best Buy with a certain sound-bar in mind, not being this one. After getting to the aisle and pressing the demo buttons on every one there, I had changed my mind to this one. I was on a budget of around 250. This one was on sale and sounded lightyears better that anything by Samsung or Yamaha, and it was much louder. The only complaint some people may have with it is that it is bulky. A bit tall, but that was not a problem for me. I am extremely critical of sound and how things do end up sounding, and this one passed my expectations and continues to the more I use it. For the price, I believe you cannot beat it. I give it a 4.5.

best sound bar ever great bass and treble
5 Star Review   By Cheecky on Sony - Official Store - Feb 9, 2014

Greatest sound bar ever. Great bass and treble. Bluetooth is excellent. my ipad is connected to it via Bluetooth and listening to Pandora is great. the windows and walls vibrates with the music because of its great bass effect. Use it every day and the house is simply full of great music and sound from Sony. My friends and visitors admire the sounds and music whenever they asked it's because of SONY. So far no distortions due to loud volume. My walls may breakdown due to bass vibrations.

Great sound, terrible software
2 Star Review   By ClintonRH on Sony - Official Store - Jan 8, 2014

When it works it works great. The sound is a little bass heavy and the crossover is a bit higher than I would like but for the price it's really very good. BUT, I'm debating returning the thing because it doesn't play nice with HDMI-CEC standards. Every time the bar is powered off, whether from timing out and going into standby or from the TV turning off and sending it the command over the HDMI to turn off it will screw up the ability to use the bar over an HDMI ARC connection to the TV until you go into the sound bars menu options and disable Sony's version of CEC, then reenable it. If you leave CEC disabled you can get sound and it works fine but then you have to use the bar's remote to change volume, the same as if you had connected it with an optical cable. If you're going to connect it with the TOSLINK optical cable it's a good product. If you don't care about constantly switching remotes, it's fine. BUT if you want your TV to control the volume and auto-power the sound bar you'll have to be willing to screw around in the menu every time the thing is power cycled. Hopefully Sony will fix this and it will work in the future but right now connecting to the TV via HDMI ARC is only half functional in my book.

Best for Budget
4 Star Review   By LifeDevices on Sony - Official Store - Dec 4, 2013

After reviewing the plethora of available soundbars the SONY CT260H was the winner. If you don't mind running wires to rear speakers these are the ones for you. Other brands such as Philips, Toshiba, Sony, etc., w/ similar prices were good but lacked either Sound Quality, HDMI I/O, Blutooth capability, or looks. I won't go into detail regarding the upper stratosphere ($500+) systems because it's a silly comparison. If you got the cash, you are certainly blessed. The reason for the four stars instead of five is because SONOS. The ability of going almost totally wireless and the ability to Airplay is 5 stars! But the cost - OUCH! Sound for movies, TV, etc., was more than ample. The boom in bass is there. I turned up the bass on the soundbar to 6 and it was overbearing so I put it down to 3/4. Treble is at 4/5. Can get loud. If you are looking for stereo replacement, get serious. It's a soundbar that enhances your television pleasure. Since TVs are getting thinner there's no room for real speakers. It does sound decent when I bluetooth my iPhone music (although I wished it aiplay). It fills the room nicely, satisfactory, but nothing like a real stereo system. More than okay considering two pieces (sub and soundbar). The other person who posted that the sound quality is better in their older TV, I would take caution. The soundbar has 300W compared to the TV 5-25w speakers, plus no separate woofer for bass? Foolishness. BONUS: I love the fact I can mount it on the wall without having to buy a wall mount. I just used two nails/screws and was done. It turns itself off when there's no sound, one less thing I need to do. Summary: For the price, $199 it's the best soundbar available. It does enhance TV enjoyment w/ more than ample sound. It is not a stereo replacement (4sure), but is quite music capable. HDMI I/O, Bluetooth, IR rears are a plus. No Airplay, rear speakers, universal remote a minus. Looks? subjective - Could look better, but not bad. Different sound modes - would rarely use it.

The Most Affordable & Powerful Setup On A Budget
5 Star Review   By LifeDevices on Sony - Official Store - Nov 28, 2013

I Purchased this sound bar after 3 months of research to help improve my movie viewing experience and immersion. What you get in this package is a great sound bar and an amazing subwoofer. The Bravia Sync work well for communicating between all my devices with the occasional de-sync when fast switching inputs. Lets be clear; is it the best sounding system, no and the design is slightly eccentric for all taste, but if your like me and are budget conscious with limited space then the CT260H is a great purchase

Not Impressed
1 Star Review   By Phil86 on Sony - Official Store - Nov 14, 2013

I am the kind of person that researches products and reads reviews for weeks and sometimes months before I make any electronics purchase. I purchased this sound bar around Christmas 2012 based on exceptional reviews and the sales price at my local best buy. I am now on my second bar. The first one I purchased quit working in July 2013, and our best buy replaced it after a month of arguing with them and Sony. My second one just went out today, and I am debating on just pitching it if best buy won't allow me to exchange it for a different model. For the first few months of owning this bar paired with a 50 inch Samsung plasma, I was thoroughly impressed, but now I am convinced that this is one of the poorest units Sony has on the market. Save your money and buy a better Sony model, or just purchase a completely different brand.

Amazing sound in a compact package
5 Star Review   By Mamachi on Sony - Official Store - Oct 3, 2013

I am living in a small apartment now and no longer have room for all the speaker wire and cables needed for my old surround system. Plus it was very heavy and had started acting up. I was amazed to discover the great sound quality and depth of base I got from this soundbar system. it fits beautifully under my TV; and with the blue tooth capability, I will no longer have to worry about tripping over wires. Installation was a snap as well. I did lots of research before purchase and this soundbar received the highest ratings. Thanks, Sony for a great product!

I have been a Sony loyalist for 30 years. I've had Walkmans, stereos, VHS/CD players and currently have 3 Sony trinitrons. I bought this sound bar and a 50"r450 bravia to replace my 36" HD Trinitron that died. Bad idea, the new TV and sound bar don't hold a candle to my old TV. The reviews for the sound bar were overwhelmingly great. I disagree. I thought Bose systems were bass heavy but this sound bar is extreme. Even with the bass turned all the way down, its still overpowering. With an iPod hooked up and the volume maxed it not very loud at all! Thought I could use it as a stereo, not a chance. The sound on just my old TV way much better than the whole soundbar. I have it unplugged and its now just a dust collector. I was a huge Sony fan, but not anymore. These new products just don't compare to the old ones. I think I'm moving on to another brand, I've had good luck LG appliances, think I'll go that route next
