Product Details

The DR-880 is a rhythm-programming powerhouse that’s loaded with world-class drum, percussion, and bass sounds from Roland’s famous SRX library. It also includes a stunning collection of original waveforms. You can get microscopic with the DR-880, but you also have the option of taking the simple route with its three EZ Compose buttons, which allow original patterns to be constructed without note-by-note programming hassles. Patterns can be taken deeper with the Groove Modify feature, where various groove and triplet feels can be applied. Ghost notes and fills can also be added automatically. Guitar and bass players can join the action by plugging directly to the DR-880’s Guitar/Bass Input jack, and playing through the built-in COSM® Drive/Amp models and multi-effects.

It's like having a drummer and a bass player at your finger tips.

Strengths: This product offers both preset and creative tools to compose original music. It integrates with external sound sources to my computer through a midi interface and sequencer software.

Weakness: Advance detail study of the user manual along with an ample amount a personal creativity are required.

The software driver isn't difficult to install if you follow the user manuals instructions carefully. I'm using a midi keyboard plugged into the Boss DR880 with a midi cable, and out of the DR880 with a midi interface into my computer's sequencing software, and then out to the midi interface back to the keyboard and into the sound system, with very pleasing results.

Could be better than a real drummer !

Strengths: Great realistic sound ever ! easy portable size and operation. Good for addition to your live performance.

Weakness: Limited to create odd meter time patterns & songs. That is not available when importing SMF data and Using EZ compose function. Software groove box may have more flexible editing function.

This one is the best hardware drum machine ever. Especially the sound couldn't be better. This is most cost-effective machine in this class price. It not for improvisational beat like jazz but could be better than any beat keeping type human drummer with adjustable groove, various sound effects and many selection of drum kits. You can expand your imagination faster and build your creativity...

I'm glad I got this

Strengths: Sounds great, easy to use, made creating drum parts that sound realistic possible without using a drummer

Weakness: USB connection creates hum that records into recording program (though, this may be the computers fault)

This drum machine is one of the best purchases I've made. It has made it possible to finally stop putting off recording the songs I've intended to record for so long now. It really does have amazing drum quality. And it took less than a day to have it figured out. The only problem that I have had is that it seems to create a hum when recording through a mixing board. I'm not sure if that is...
