ULTRASONE HFI 700
Strengths: 3-D sound, good bass, 2 year warranty, safer hearing, less radiations
Weakness: Ear pads get heated, pricey.
I will start the review with the sound quality cause that's the most important. These headphones sound spectacular. The bass is punchy, and they make you feel as if the events are actually happening around you. I watched a couple DVD's and you could actually make out how far a character is. The sound is extremely clear and sharp. If you want to buy them only to watch movies on your surround system then these are the best. Now coming to the design, since these are closed headphones be prepared to get your ears heated up. Being closed category these headphones do reduce a lot of external noise. However, since the ears are covered all the time, I couldn't wear them for more than 4 hours at a stretch cause my ears would feel hot and start to sweat. These headphones come with a 10ft long cord. Also the company claims that headphones are safer for hearing as they reduce the sound pressure and produce less emissions.
Although a little expensive still I would definitely recommend this product to anyone.

Ultrasone HFI-700 Headphones
Strengths: Fantastic sound - better 'surround sound' than any other headphones that I have tried. Noticably less sound pressure than other headphones for simular level of sound volume.
Weakness: Cost - they are not cheap
The Ultrasone HFI-700 Headphones are physically very comfortable to wear. They do block out most ambient sounds. (I haven't tried active noise cancelling headphones but I can't imagine the performance at blocking external sounds to be much better that with these). They have very impressive clarity and a better 'surround sound' than any other headphones that I have tried. I think the most remarkable and noticeable characteristic is that they have less sound pressure than other headphones for similar levels of sound volume. With other headphones you have a 'cotton in the ear' feeling after you have worn them for awhile due to the sound pressure being exerted on your ear drums. You just don't get that with the Ultrasones. This is something they advertise and is true. They are externally extremely quiet, i.e. someone else can't hear the music that you are listening to.

Fantastic closed cans!
Strengths: Excellent sound, good soundfield for being closed headphones, good job at blocking outside noise
Weakness: Uncomfortable to wear for extended periods of time, your ears sweat
This was my first pair of Audiophile-quality headphones and I was going in with pretty high expectations. I had read dozens of reviews on the HFI 700's and I did not want to be disappointed. Well, I wasn't. In fact, I was blown away. Just pop in the sampler cd that comes with these, sit back and close your eyes. They have amazing clarity and very spacious sound. You do not hear the music "inside" your head, but you hear it around you. I spent the next few days going through my entire cd collection, amazed at how different my music sounded. If you are looking for a good pair of closed headphones, these should more than satisfy you.
On the negative side, since they are closed, your ears tend to get sweaty after about an hour of use, and at times I have to fiddle with them until they feel "just right" on my ears, but that is the case with all closed cans.

THE GOOD: Ultradeep, tight, and powerful bass; ultracomfortable design; S-Logic design provides more open sound. THE BAD: Pricey. THE BOTTOM LINE: Ultrasones ultrapotent headphones have a rock-and-roll heart and offer exceptional DVD performance.
