In April 1912, after colliding with an iceberg, the RMS Titanic cruise ship sank into the north Atlantic ocean in one of the most notorious disasters in world history. Touted as unsinkable before its maiden voyage, the manner in which the Titanic sank has long been a mystery and source of debate. Join a group of scientists and researchers as they combine underwater archaeology, forensic science, metallurgy, microbiology and sonar imaging to present an investigation of the sinking and attempt to answer puzzling questions about the wreck. Computer animation recreates important aspects of the sinking - like the collision with the iceberg and the angle and speed of the ship's descent. Plus, hear from survivors who share their thoughts on the tragedy, offering a unique view of the disaster as it was happening. // Ocean of Fear: Worst Shark Attack Ever is a television program that kicked off the 20th anniversary of the Discovery Channel's Shark Week of 2007. It was based around the incident of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis. The show initially aired on July 29, 2007, on the eve of the anniversary of the ship's sinking in 1945. It was filmed in the UK on the Underwater Stage at Pinewood Studios. The show investigated the shark attacks that occurred when the USS Indianapolis sank. Hundreds of crew that survived were stranded in the water for four days before rescue. In that time many of the survivors endured constant shark attacks. The Discovery Channel hired George H. Burgess, a renowned investigator in shark attacks, to determine, "why the sharks attacked the way they did," and to "investigate the survival strategies of the men in the water, including those who fought the sharks."
