Great ice cream maker
Strengths: Very easy to use.
I purchased this machine to make "Wow Cow" frozen dessert at home. It is so easy to make. I prepare enough mix for a week and keep it in the refrigerator until needed. I just pour in the mix and turn on the machine. It takes one hour to make 1.5 quarts.
The machine is a little noisy, but I just moved it.

Works Well-Doesn't Make Much Ice Cream
Strengths: Works well and pretty fast. Turn it on and it takes care of itself until it's finished.
Weakness: Really heavy. It's not the easiest to get it set up.
The first thing I noticed when I lifted the ice cream maker out of the box is that it's really heavy. My wife can hardly pick the thing up. Next, trying to get the mixing paddle hooked to the drive arm is not easy to do. I had to turn it on and off several times until I finally got it right. All that said, after I got it in place and finally got the paddle connected, it worked great. No problems. It runs itself. I was surprised at the small quantity that it make. It really only makes enough to feed 4 or 5 people in one batch, so, don't expect to use it for a party or the kids will kill you waiting for the next batch to get done.

Cuisinart ICE-50BC Supreme Commercial Quality Ice Cream Maker
Strengths: Ease of use. Quality of finished product.
Weakness: Ingredients must be assembled before putting in machine.
I understood this machine was fully automatic, but all the ingredients have to be assembled beforehand and then cooled and put in the machine. Though this is a bit more work, it is worth it, because the ice cream was most delicious...in fact, the best I've ever eaten. Although the machine was reported to be noisy, I didn't find it bothersome.

Fantastic Ice Cream Maker!
This is a fantastic ice cream maker. Very well built, and contrary to what I read in some reviews I do not find it any more noisy than a portable mixer, and more quiet than a food processor or blender. The ice cream it makes is delicious and a little more solid than soft serve, half an hour in the freezer and it is just like store bought in consistency. My husband loves it too and often makes his own ice cream, which is remarkable since he is a man who seldom cooks. I would say that this is one of the best purchases I have made. When I ordered it I thought it would be used occasionally and be stored on a shelf the rest of the time, it now has a permanent home on my kitchen counter top and is used several times a week.

Great Ice Cream!
I bought this for my wife for Christmas and we've used it several times over the holiday since. No need for ice and salt, just pour in the recipe, plug it in and turn it on. It takes about 40 minutes or so to freeze up, but ends up more solid than the old school mixers and the end result is very very good. nice and creamy..

LOUD, But makes ice cream
I wish I would of got out my SPL meter to measure decibels of how LOUD this maker is. I just used for the first time tonight made the chocolate ice cream. The plus side it made the ice cream in 45 minutes . I scooped it out of the bucket and put it in the freezer to firm up as the directions say. I will keep the unit even if it is loud. Just do not plan on watching tv or having a conversation when this unit is running. Would have given it 5 stars except for the noise.

Mamaw and grandson made and ate some icream they made together in one of these. A day or 2 later grandson's dad wanted to take him to the dairy queen for an ice cream cone but he said "no", he wanted Mamaw's ice cream!

The product works. It's fairly heavy to pick up and move and appears to be solidly built and clad in attractive stainless steel metal. The motor housing on the top is plastic and seems a bit more flimsy. It's billed as "commercial grade" but I doubt it would hold up to heavy daily use. Perfectly adequate for a home user though. You pour/place your ingredients into the receptacle (the metal pot slides into/out of the freezer/mixer) attach the motor+mixing blades on top and set the timer. No need to mix the ingredients before starting since the device churns the mixture as it is slowly freezing it. The motor is quite loud-while running the machine we could barely carry on a conversation in the kitchen and could hear the thing 2 rooms away. After a while the churning stops (as the mixture gets frozen and firm) and the freezing mechanism continues to operate. Thankfully this is fairly quiet. After the preset amt of time (30-60 min, whatever the user has set--this determines how hard the finished product is) the whole thing turns off. This is my one major criticism. If the user doesn't respond to the "ding" of the bell when the timer finishes, the mixture sits in the machine and melts again. We found this out when we started the machine, went into the other room to watch a 2 hr movie and came back at the end to see that the "ice cream" was an unappealing thick liquid. Best thing to do was simply run it again but I think a better design would allow the machine to continue to keep the finished ice cream cold until the user turns it off. When used properly the finished product is too hard to pull the mixing blades out of--you need to take the canister out of the machine (which can be a challenge--it's a very snug fit and sticks a bit to the inside well of the machine) and scoop the mostly frozen product out of the canister from around the mixing blades until it's mostly freed up. The instructions specify putting the product in the freezer for another hour to "firm it up" but I like the ice cream somewhat soft so I found it best to eat immediately. Overall, we're satisfied with the product and are glad to have purchased it.

Should come with ear plugs!
I bought this unit because you didn't have to freeze the bowl first like all of the others and that worked great. My problems begin when I turned it on. The motor that turns the mixing paddle is so loud that we had to take it to another room and close the door...and you could still hear it running. Way too loud for an indoor counter top applicance. I don't know if all of the counter top ice cream makers are this loud or if it was just this one. I'm going to order the ice cream maker attachement for my Kitchenaid mixer, I know how quiet it is.

I have only had this for a week. So far I have made 2 batches of ice cream. 1- strawberry and 1-chocolate. Machine worked great and the ice cream was very good. I will eventually make more complicated ice cream recipes. No bowls to freeze overnite. Machine is ready whenever you are. Going to make some frozen mixed drinks also. I would buy this again, well worth it. Hope you get one and enjoy it like I am.

I gave this ice cream maker to my daughter and her husband for Christmas and it was a big hit! Since receiving it a little over two weeks ago they have made every kind of ice cream and sorbet imaginable. They love it and they especially love the fact the you can make one batch of ice cream after another without any wait time in between. Now that i see how much they are enjoying it I am thinking of getting one for myself.

Cuisinart ICE-50BC Supreme Commercial Quality Ice Cream Maker
Strengths: Built in compessor, stainless steel, easy to use, Cuisinart name and quality
Weakness: A bit loud, needs MORE recipes
I have never tasted ice cream so rich and flavorful and the sherbet (lime) is just incredibly fresh tasting. While other makers can produce an "icy" ice cream, this makes smooth frozen desserts. A 10 on a scale of 1 to 5.

Commercial-Quality Stainless-Steel Ice Cream Maker
The product is of high quality and is easy to operate. I've used it about six times to make ice cream and the results have been delicious and refreshing each time. The machine is a little on the noisy side, but I've placed it on the counter in the laundry room. The noise doesn't bother us from there. I would recommend it to anyone. Home Depot had the best price.
