5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Aug 26, 2011    ( See more reviews from Crate & Barrel )

There is nothing like a good quality knife. As vegetarians and foodies, we out a lot of miles on a knife. This one is a multi-purpose everything kinda knife and we love it!

Poor quality
2 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 18, 2010    ( See more reviews from Crate & Barrel )

The Wusthof Gourmet line is of significantly poorer quality than the Classic. I purchased the 3.5" Classic pairing knife and the Gourmet Santoku at the same time, and, boy, what a difference. The pairing knife has a good weight and performs beautifully. The Santoku knife, although sharp, feels flimsy and the handle looks cheap. I thought perhaps this was the way Santoku knives were made, but after recently purchasing the Gourmet Carving Set which was of similarly poor quality, I believe the entire Gourmet line just doesn't stand up against its Classic counterpart. I will be returning the carving set but am, unfortunately, stuck with the Santoku knife since C&B doesn't do exchanges after 30 days.

Fair
3 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Apr 20, 2010    ( See more reviews from Crate & Barrel )

The blade is sharp and it cuts well, but compared to other Wusthof knives I own it is not as sturdy. I also find the handle to be light and small.

Not as sturdy as I thought.
3 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Sep 25, 2009    ( See more reviews from Crate & Barrel )

I bought the 7' santuko(sp) and it was much lighter than I expected. I'm glad it was only $50.00 because it's not worth the $100 suggested retail price. It's a nice sharp knife, but a little too short and the handle isn't curved enough for the rocking motion of chopping.

My Go-To Chef Knife!
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 24, 2009    ( See more reviews from Crate & Barrel )

I splurged on a santoku knife a couple of years ago during the annual Crate and Barrel Wusthof sale. I am so glad I did - this is truly my go-to knife for prepping and chopping vegetables. I have small hands and this knife is very comfortable to use. I have no complaints whatsoever! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Feeling Like a Real Chef!
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 20, 2009    ( See more reviews from Crate & Barrel )

I cannot believe how easily I am able to slice and dice veggies with my new Santoku 7". Not only is it shockingly light-weight, it is also extremely effective and easy to work with. All this time I had no idea what I was missing as I tried to saw through onions, winter squash and herbs. As effortless as this has become, I feel like a chef on a cooking show now! What fun :)

Great knife, a must-have for every kitchen
5 Star Review   By member suniri - Aug 31, 2008

Strengths: Very sharp. Easy to release sticky slices; Great construction

Weakness: None. Pricey.

My wife has been asking for this kind of knife, Santoku, for some time. I bought this for my wife's birthday gift with Wusthof knives set. She has been extremely happy with this knife. It cuts slices perfectly. Also its scalloped edges make it easy to release sticky foods after slicing them. It must be a must-have for every kitchen. Although it is quite pricey, you do not need to buy another knife as Wusthof is known for its lifetime product guarantee.

Great Knife, But Pricey
5 Star Review   By member dominiquenabholz - Nov 22, 2006

Strengths: sharp blade, balanced, full tang, slices through tough vegetables with ease.

Weakness: expensive knife

I have had this knife on my wishlist for over two years since handling one in a store. I am a vegetarian, so I do quite a bit of vegetable chopping and prep work. The santoku handles the tasks with ease, as opposed to my old knife which could not slice through a sweet potato. This knife is more expensive than many of its competitors, but if you try this knife out and then try out the other brands, you will definitely see and feel the difference. Using price grabber, I was able to purchase this product for about half of retail price.

5 Star Review   By member WDMARK - Feb 13, 2005

Strengths: Versatile, sharp, well balanced cutlery

High Quality Craftmanship.Extremely sharp and versatile knife for my wife's kitchen. I was skeptical of premium priced cutlery, but now even I appreciate the quality results with this knife. Food Channel was the original source of my wife's interest in this general type of Wusthof knife. This specific model fit the bill perfectly.
