Almost track free
5 Star Review   By panaru on PETCO - Mar 18, 2012

Our cats rest everywhere in the house, including our bedroom, this litter barely tracks in a little. We use this with 3 cats in 2 boxes with a regular kitchen mat in front of it (regular cat track matt's they will just hop over bc it hurts their feet). I scoop everyday and this makes urine easier to collect. My only complaint is the plastic it comes packaged in attracts our male cat's claws, so we move it to bins saved from other brands for storage. Highly recommend for the price.

Switched from another popular litter
5 Star Review   By AmandaW on PETCO - Nov 6, 2011

I remember when we brought the kittens home from California, I tried out a half dozen litters and settled on FS. I've used it ever since - 5 years. It was great at clumping and eliminating odors. However, it was very dusty. Our new kittens have had sneezing and coughing, and one thing my vet mentioned as a possible cause (outside the obvious ones, URI etc.) is dusty clumping litter. So I stood in the store reading reviews on my phone for litters. This one stood out as being "(almost) zero dust" and it was half as expensive as my usual litter... so I took the plunge. Well, I can verify that it is as close to zero dust as possible. Poured two full new boxes of it, did not see, smell or feel a bit of dust (and I am asthmatic). The test was going to be how well it clumps. The old litter kept everything together except occasional little bits that would drop off, small enough to fall right through the scoop holes. After some time using this litter, I've found it to be identical in this aspect. It's not the hardest clumping litter out there. However, it performs much better than some others that left the clumps soft and vulnerable to breaking apart as you try to scoop them. Note that this litter claims it has no perfumes or deodorants. The former is great for me - hate perfumes/fragrances added to things. The latter, though, means that, well, there's nothing to deodorize the waste. You can add a deodorizer if you want. I use covered boxes so not much smell gets out, not the biggest deal for me. But it bears mentioning. Also, just to reemphasize... HALF as expensive as most litters. 40lb bag cost LESS than a 20lb box of the usual brands. If you're going to have to experiment with a new litter, this is a great place to start because it's a lot less cost sunk if it doesn't turn out to work for you.

The Solution to My Cat's Coughing Problem!
4 Star Review   By LovemyGunny on PETCO - May 13, 2011

My cat had had a cough for over a year. It wasn't bad till a few months ago so I took him to the vet. To make a long story short, I spent about $500 at the vet over the past month trying to figure out what was wrong with him. We thought asthma for the longest but the medication wasn't helping. We thought heartworms (luckily it wasn't that) and lungworms. After no medication working I decided to try something else. I stopped using harsh chemicals to clean with, I dusted every day, I didn't use any air fresheners and I changed switched his food to grain free. After nothing working, I decided to try a new litter. Obviously I wanted something hypoallergenic and dust free. When I saw this, it was perfect. I've only been using it for 3 days but my cat hasn't had one single coughing since! I am so relieved and pleased. The only thing bad I'd say is it really isn't that great with masking the odor, but I seriously don't care. I'd rather smell it than have my cat have coughing fits all the time.

Great litter.

It does track more than others, but the dust and perfume free make up for it. I love this litter.

Best litter ever
5 Star Review   By mangoNmacy on PETCO - Apr 8, 2011

This litter is amazing. I researched all sorts of litter before this and finally settled on pine litter. And while pine litter odor control is good for urine, it's terrible for solid waste. This odor control is so much better than pine litter. Before, I had to plug my nose and vent the entire apartment every time my cats pooped, not to mention going through entire bottles of air fresheners each month. With this litter, I can't even smell it. This litter also forms hard clumps that don't fall apart. In addition, this litter doesn't track nearly as much as the pine litter. I use this clumping litter with the litter robot. The only downside to using this litter is that my local petco store doesn't have it and shipping on the website is so expensive. Hopefully, this litter will be in more stores soon. It really is an amazing product.

Only litter my cat will use.
4 Star Review   By Toby56 on PETCO - Mar 29, 2011

I have tried all the cat litters out there and this is the only one my female cat will use. She has FLUD and will not use the box if I use anything else. This may be a bit costly but it doesn't track, is not dusty and clumps really well. Only wish it came in a box verses a bag which makes transport difficult from the store to my house. *Good advantage. You can order online when there is a sale and get $4.99 or free shipping. Great deal delivered right to my doorstep.

The Best Cat Litter
5 Star Review   By ilovemycat on PETCO - Mar 29, 2011

I have tried quite a few cat litters and this litter has worked the best for us. Great clumping, covers odor, very little tracking, no dust. This is the litter I plan on staying with for my 2 cats.

I wanted to like this litter
3 Star Review   By sumire on PETCO - Jan 25, 2011

I wanted to like this litter. I used Dr Elsey's Cat Attract when we first brought home our rescue kitties, just to make sure they used their box. Then I gradually switched over to this type. Both of the bags I bought were much dustier than the Cat Attract--perhaps I got some out of a bad batch or two, but the supposedly low dust levels were the reason I chose this brand. The odor control is lousy, because the urine clumps didn't hold together well, and I had to go fishing for all those little pieces. (I scoop 3 times a day.) I am reluctantly facing switching over to another brand of litter.

The better litter choice
5 Star Review   By Abreu on PETCO - Oct 3, 2010

I have tried several cat litters and none measure up to this product. Oder control, clumping, low tracking, but most importantly it won't harm my cats and it does'nt get in there long fur.

Really low dust
4 Star Review   By Loddybug on PETCO - Sep 10, 2010

I have 3 grown cats and have mostly used commercial scented brands. Very dusty. Usually, the deodorizing smell doesn't mix well with the waste it is trying to mask, making the overall odor much stronger. This litter does not encourage smell but I must say the odor is not necessarily nutralized. That being said, the smells aren't wafting around my home, either. Clumping capability is good, very quick. The feature I'm most imipressed by, though is how little dust it really has. The other brands were supposed to be 98% dust free as well and I always ended up drowning in a cloud of kitty litter dust when refilling the boxes. Not so with this stuff! I will be buying again.

Best Cat Litter on the Market
5 Star Review   By puertokorecan on PETCO - Aug 29, 2010

Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Litter is the best cat litter I've used. I have 3 cats (2 males, 1 female) and have experimented with all different kinds of cat litter. I've tried Tidy Cat, Scoop Away, Fresh Step, Shweat Litter, Feline Pine, and World's Best Cat Litter. NONE of them compare to Precious Cat. Clumping - 5 out of 5: The clumping ability of Precious Cat is top-notch. As long as you pour in the correct amount and clean your litter box at least once a day, urine won't seep to the bottom of the box. You might get a loose or sticky clump every now and then, but that usually happens if you don't clean the box daily or you clean it too soon after a cat has urinated so it hasn't had time to clump and dry. Odor Control - 4 out of 5: Precious Cat is fragrance free, which I love. My cats no longer smell like cat litter all the time. Despite not having a scent, Precious Cat is somehow able to control odor extremely well. It may smell for a moment when your cat first does its business, but overall odor is kept to a minimum. You can add baking soda or some sort of litter odor control powder if you feel so inclined, but I'm fine without it. Litter Tracking - 4 out of 5: Precious Cat has medium sized granules which can track a little. However, most of the tracking is kept in the general vicinity of the litter box, unlike finer granule litters like Feline Pine. If you use a litter mat or have broom/hand vac close by, it's really a non-issue. Dust - 5 out of 5: This is where Precious Cat really outshines other clay-based cat litter. Precious Cat is 99.9% dust-free, which is beneficial for many reasons. You won't be caught in a dust storm when changing litter. You don't have to worry about a film of dust being on everything in the area of your litter box. And most important of all, you don't have to worry about the health issues of your cat inhaling dust constantly when using the litter box. I can't say enough how pleased I am with Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Litter. It has all the benefits of both clay and natural litter without the drawbacks of either. Yes, it's slightly more expensive than cheapo clay litter, but you get what you pay for. Pick up a bag today or if the price is too high, wait for when it's on sale. Trust me, you'll never go back to any other litter.

Amazing litter!
5 Star Review   By PreOre on PETCO - Aug 11, 2010

I had read so many positive things about this litter through customer reviews and the Precious Cat website that I felt it was time to give it try. Boy, am I glad we did! The cat had no problem transitioning to this brand from the old brand, which was our main worry (and she is one fussy cat!). It clumps hard and quickly. It's unscented, yet it eliminates any odors that may be lurking in the litter box. It works wonderfully with the mechanical litter box. Definitely LESS dusty than the old litter. It does track a little, but we keep a mat underneath the litter box, and a quick pass with the nearby hand vac picks up any stray pieces. We're EXTREMELY pleased with it, this is our new litter of choice. Thanks Dr. Elsey!
