Excellent if you know what you're doing
5 Star Review   By Mush on Home Depot - Jun 12, 2013

It's not hard to do. I did an entire house by myself in a day, and the peel & cling aspect was enormously helpful in comparison to the old Gila film. If you cut a half inch over on each side and use the cutter correctly once you get it on the window (leaving 1/16" around each side), you will have no problems getting all the bubbles out. Wet the window with the application solution really well beforehand and it's easy to do. Each cut piece takes me about five minutes, tops. Instantly reduces heat, people can't see in my windows as much and my house is 5 degrees cooler. I love this product.

Preparation is key to quality installation
4 Star Review   By Melvin63 on Home Depot - Nov 4, 2012

I had used the thin outdoor film on some windows that get direct sun and it discolored and became brittle. Replacing it with "peel and cling" (interior surface) film is probably a better solution. Make sure you get glass surfaces absolutely clean(use a flat razor blade to scrape with cleaning solution-especially corners and edges)for best results. The view may be a bit milky looking at first, clarity improves as the moisture dries from under the film.

Product is working as expected!
5 Star Review   By Bassinger on Home Depot - Aug 7, 2012

So far we are happy w/product. We can still see outdoors which was important to us. Took a while to get it just right w/out bubbles, but happy overall. Now we hope it saves us money on utility.

Horrible.
1 Star Review   By mightygoose on Home Depot - Aug 5, 2012

This was a pain in the butt to put up. But even after we got it up, it just looked terrible. It looks really cheap. You really notice it's on because of all the imperfections which show up, even if you get all the bubbles out. It looks like you have a cheap plastic window. On the outside it looks like you put aluminum foil in your windows. We took it off right away. It just looks absolutely horrible. I hope we get our money back because it was kind of expensive. I'll save my money and get a Low-E door.

so far, very good!
5 Star Review   By moneysaver on Home Depot - Jun 21, 2012

We have the type of storm door with full length window or screen. We can't use the screen, however, because of neighborhood (tom)cats which drive our (indoor spayed female) cat into a frenzy when they invade her territory. The door faces west; the accumulated heat was oppressive, and this product provided the perfect solution. It provides UV protection and privacy without distorting our view outside. Both my husband and I have checked at different times of day and are pleased with how much the accumulated heat has been reduced--especially during a recent heat wave. This does require two people to install if applying to a large area and take care that hair or fibers don't cling to the surface placed against the glass because they will be visible.

product works but need time an patience to apply
4 Star Review   By lynnmary on Home Depot - Jun 9, 2012

Product works to keep out UVA rays but if you DO NOT have time and patience then this product is not for you. It took about 45 minutes to apply to one side of our patio window. The product is easy to work with and is thick for a film. The hard part is getting the bubbles out, no creases and getting it smooth. That is where the patience comes in. You need to use the Gila application solution first, directly on the window, before applying the film but use sparingly under the film or you will have more bubbles to remove...I started at the top and worked down. When using the squeegee work from top to bottom and use small strokes. Once you get the film or part of the film down you need to use the solution over the film before you squeegee. When you get to some bubbles that won't seem to move spray solution and then use slow very small strokes and the bubbles will move. If there are bubbles on the edges you might have to lift the edge and squeegee and then use your fingers to smooth them. Don't be afraid to use the solution over the film to smooth it out. If you don't the bubbles won't move well and you could rip the film. Don't bother to buy the Window Film Application Kit by Gila as the cutter doesn't work well....your better off just buying the solution and using your own utility knife and saving $4.00. We still had to use the utility knife so we wasted the money. However, the product DOES NOT come with the plastic squeegee. I think the product is a little expensive but it is more economical than having it professionally done.

Wonderful product!
5 Star Review   By Phxtoddster on Home Depot - May 29, 2012

Bought this for all the windows and sliding doors in April 2011. Went up with some work, put patience paid off in A/C savings and general comfort. Took down in Fall 2011 for holidays and to let sun in. Put back up in April 2012 with no problem. Love it!

5 Star Review   By VACME on Home Depot - Apr 11, 2012

I have a contraband cat in my apartment, so I need to prevent outsiders from discovering my little secret. this film turned out to be just the ticket! It does a good job giving the privacy I need. It is supposed to help with energy costs as well, but the jury is out on its effectiveness on that score. At any rate, it went up pretty well. the first sheet was the learning sheet, but after that it was smooth sailing. I have 12' X 78" to cover, which is a lot of glass. I really love the privacy.

Big difference
4 Star Review   By bgerk on Home Depot - Mar 22, 2012

Do not buy if you are not patient and/or have the time. Buy the tools...you'll need them. A lot easier if you have a second person helping you. If you love DIY projects this will be an easy one for you although time consuming if you are doing several windows. If you're not patient, don't pay attention to the details and don't read and follow instructions you will mess it up and will end up waisting your money.............This stuff made a big difference last summer on my AC bill. Great buy!

Bubbles inevitable & Challenges are always a struggle
4 Star Review   By Faithful on Home Depot - Mar 22, 2012

When using a liquid of any kind between glass and man made material (air pockets) will always cause bubbles, thats science. Doing things oneself is always a challenge. That is the reason our society buys prefabbed items and fast food. If you are not a person whom invites challenges or knows how to cope with them, this is not the product for you. You have been made perfect. Dont give up; this product works very well. Human beings are made to work; getting frustrated and giving up is a waste; you have one time here in this world. Finally, very important, widow MUST BE CLEANED first before applying. Be well, be Blessed.

Junk
1 Star Review   By junk on Home Depot - Dec 2, 2011

Do not get ripped off like I did. This stuff is junk. I followed the instructions & the film would not stick to the window. It rolled off from both the top & bottom of the window. I re-applied the solution & got the same result. A total waste of money.

Great product and easy to apply
5 Star Review   By WJK59 on Home Depot - Aug 6, 2011

We lost a tree that was shading our sun room. The light and heat was miserable in the morning. The product was easy to install and reposition if needed. Gila's previous product was dificult to install. There were some creases when it was rolled at the factory. Once it sat on the window overnight some of the creases vanished. The others did smooth out by lifting and reapplying with the solution and squeegee. The heat in the morning is drasticly redused without losing our view. There is a slight distortion in clarity. Overall we are very happy with the window film.

Not as advertised
1 Star Review   By kellyNR09 on Home Depot - Jun 10, 2011

I got this as opposed to their regular solar film because it states you peel it and stick it to the window without having to go through the process of spraying, etc, it even says that on the outside of the box..."easier install"...except you still have to spray the window and spray the film and basically install it the EXACT same way. I was beyond irritated. And it is difficult to install. I would reccommend two people. I tried to do it myself but by the time I was ready to put the film on the window the solution had already dried and it was too difficult to try to spray with one hand while holding the film on the window with the other. It would almost be worth it to pay more for a professional install to avoid the aggravation of doing this yourself.

very hard to install
1 Star Review   By kcwallace on Home Depot - May 29, 2011

These are much harder then they look to put up. It is almost impossible to smooth out all the bubbles, we tried everything! We are very disappointed in this product. They came folded and that seam would not come out, we tried to work around it but finailly gave up and returned 1 of them (we had bought 2)
