When shopping for shoes online, it's best to just order the size you normally wear (since manufacturer sizing varies, it's helpful if you've tried on a shoe by that manufacturer before...but not necessary).
If you don't know your size, take off your shoes. Put one foot on a blank sheet of paper, and have a friend mark the tip of your toe and the back of your heel. Measure from point A to point B, then consult the chart below to determine your size. Some tips:
- If you're between sizes, we recommend you order up 1/2 size.
- If you find one foot is larger than the other, don't worry – you're not alone. You should fit to the larger of your two feet (you can always pad the larger shoe...you'll get a lot more mileage than trying to squeeze the larger foot into a smaller shoe.)
- Your toes should generally not brush against the end of the shoe – there should be about a half an inch or more worth of space. A good rule of thumb is, "If you can't wiggle your toes, the shoe is too small."
- When you order your shoes, be sure and consider what type of socks/hosiery you'll be wearing with them. Socks can add up to 1/2 size to your feet. When you get your shoes, be sure and try them on with the appropriate socks.
- If you plan on ordering men's shoes, you can consult the chart on the Men's Shoe Sizes page, or just do the math: men's shoes run 1-1/2 sizes larger than women's shoes (so a Men's 6 1/2 = a Women's 8).
Happy shopping!
