Subtle and Strong
5 Star Review   By Jimmies on Vitacost - Apr 22, 2013

I ordered the Joyva tahini because it's the brand I'd often see used to make hummus when I'd go to friends houses as a child. Planning on using it to make my own hummus, I was feeling too lazy when it actually arrived, so instead mixed it with whatever else I had on hand. Now, I still haven't used it to make hummus, as I'm just too in love with the amazing subtle layer of flavor and texture it adds when it's combined with home-made mayo, or mustard, or yogurt, or apple sauce, or soup, or brownies, or, or, or...Sooo, this this tahini has pretty much become my new best friend!

A bargain
5 Star Review   By ingrid on Vitacost - Feb 26, 2013

I haven['t used a lot of different kinds of tahini but am happy with this one as far as texture and taste. It was much cheaper through vitacost than the brands I had previously purchased at my food co-op and supermarket.

Good Idea, Texture not so Good
3 Star Review   By Destiny8 on Vitacost - Sep 29, 2012

This product is healthy but the separation is not fixable, cannot totally blend it. Also, taste is less than fresh, a little disappointing. It seemed to me, also, that that container was less than full, as it it had degenerated somehow.

Not happy with this product
2 Star Review   By Livnmagick on Vitacost - May 19, 2012

This tahini was almost entirely oil. It was liquid and did not satisfy my expectations. I would not buy this again.

Very tasty
5 Star Review   By sammy5 on Vitacost - Dec 31, 2011

Very tasty tahini, much easier than making my own. I use it to make hummus, but love the taste out of the can. It mixes well with a fork (because the oil separates). I must keep it refrigerated after opening.

short of home made, it's very good
5 Star Review   By firefly069 on Vitacost - Dec 9, 2011

This is the only tahini I've used regularly. I've tried some others, but short of homemade, this one is the best, for me. I love the smooth texture, the nutty flavor, and sweet aroma. It's not too thin or too thick. You can pour off the oil before you stir it up (which takes some elbow grease!) to make it thicker if you'd like. My only complaint about this brand is it comes in a can which makes it difficult to stir up as it has an edge that sticks out over the interior after you pull the top off. What I do is pour the oil in to a bowl & then use a strong spoon to scoop out the solid chunk of sesame butter. Then I stir it up in the bowl & pour whatever I didn't use into a jar. I can't afford to buy the store made version at our local natural food store (of course they also charge too much for most things. No wonder most people can't afford to eat healthy!) so I am satisfied with this.

Ugh
1 Star Review   By Vampire on Vitacost - Nov 1, 2011

I tried this out of the can and it was terrible. Maybe in cooking it would be okay.

OK value, too thin, not raw
2 Star Review   By carlaskis on Vitacost - Apr 7, 2011

This tahini is "ok". Not thrilled with the packaging. It comes in a can - yuk! It was much thinner than any other tahini I've ever purchased. The price isn't really that much better than at local stores. Also, it's not raw as one person mentioned. I purchased it based on that review, so it was a bit disappointing. I will stick to buying the store-made raw tahini at my local health food store. It's about the same price & WAY better consistency & quality.

Reliable Product
5 Star Review   By Cheann on Vitacost - Dec 22, 2010

I go through this tahini quickly as it's not as thick as other brands I have used. On the plus side, it blends easily and has good flavor with silky texture. I use it to make hummus and as a tasty binder in raw nut and vegetable loaves.

Good taste
5 Star Review   By Countrygirl6851 on Vitacost - Jul 30, 2010

This is a very good product. I made hummus with it and it was nice and creamy and better than some grocery store brands. The price was also better than the large grocery store chain.

Taste is different from other Sesame
4 Star Review   By 5Eagle on Vitacost - Sep 24, 2009

I prefer a product with is more solid in testure therefore I pour off the oil. Other Sesame Butters have a bitter taste. This brand does not have the bitter taste.

Decent Tahini
4 Star Review   By PinkMink on Vitacost - Sep 21, 2009

This Tahini tastes pretty good but I always need to add some salt to it... even though I don't add salt to anything. I use the himalaayan pink salt and it tastes wonderful though!

I love this tahini
5 Star Review   By cecelia on Vitacost - Sep 15, 2009

It's hard to find Joyva tahini (in the west). I have many many allergies and am often allergic to some hidden ingredients. This tahini tastes so much better than most other tahinis and I love the simple ingredients.

Allergen Free Tahini
5 Star Review   By CandyGirl on Vitacost - Aug 13, 2009

This is the only brand of tahini my family can consume. All others at my local health food store have peanuts listed as an allergen, which we can't have.
