SONY Xperia Z Tablet a bit on the pricey side...
4 Star Review   By Stumpy on Sony - Official Store - Sep 30, 2013

This is an incredibly thin tablet that's a bit on the expensive side. It has an outstanding design that looks like it could be easy to break in half due to it's thickness (or should I say 'thinness'). Charging is quick with decent battery life. The video quality is stunning, It hands down beats all the other tablets I looked at. But you need to be prepared to pay for that high quality with a price that is at least $200.00 more than any other tablet I've seen. The only complaint I've got is that there's no operating manual in the box. Its taken over many of the functions I used my desk top for. With 32 gigs of memory, I've yet to purchase a memory card despite loading many games and applications. I highly recommend this product.

Great Android Performance Tablet
4 Star Review   By Steinway on Sony - Official Store - Sep 20, 2013

I am impressed with the performance, fit and finish of the Sony Xperia tablet. It outperforms my 2+ year old Samsung tablet due to faster processor, but then it's more expensive as well. The battery life is good, screen resolution superb. Built-in speakers do a reasonable job, but use headphones for anything serious. It does drop the network connection for no particular reason while all the other wireless devices connected to the same router do not. Hmmm....

Xperia Z Tablet
4 Star Review   By loveTech60 on Sony - Official Store - Sep 18, 2013

The tablet is a beautiful piece of equipment. So far the only problem I've had is I paid for and downloaded a movie from the Sony Video Unlimited store and when trying to play it...the tablet came up with an error message that said it was unable to play the file!!!! So I am out my money for the movie!!! Otherwise it seems like a very nice tablet.

My first tablet
4 Star Review   By Bob422 on Sony - Official Store - Aug 21, 2013

I was looking for a tablet that could also be a remote control for all of my home theater equipment. I chose this one because it could learn from other remotes, not just a IR blaster. After receiving the tablet, I quickly learned how limited it is for this purpose. The Sony remote app has a single template for all devices and the only customizing you can do is rename buttons. You can't move them around to wherever you want. The database of devices is pretty limited and it is very time consuming to find the right one (or one that is close) because there are no models to choose from, only a list of numbers. For very basic functionality, it's ok, but I am used to creating my own layouts for my Pronto remotes. So I was very disappointed with the remote features. I am now using iRule and am much happier. As for the rest of the tablet, it performs very well. I am still getting used to the tablet interface and how apps work compared to using a real PC, but I learn more and more every day. My only other complaints at this time are that the power button is kinda hard to push and has to be held to long. I have limited movement and cannot turn it on/off by myself. Same for the volume buttons. They are too small and hard to push in my situation. Overall I am satisfied with it, but knowing what I know now, I could have gotten something cheaper and still do the same things.

Xperia Z
4 Star Review   By Simona on Sony - Official Store - Jul 18, 2013

I bought the 16GB version a month ago and this morning I had a freeze of the tablet after I tried to charge it. I was freaking out that the tablet died on me just one month after I bought it. I was able to restart by holding the power and volume button at the same time. Hope there is a fix for it in the future. Otherwise I am very happy with the tablet and I love the size and its light weight!!!!! Snappy fast too...

Wow
5 Star Review   By SoCalSonyFan on Sony - Official Store - May 30, 2013

I picked up both the black and white versions of the 32GB Xperia Tablet Z. I only got to spend a little time with it, but thought I would share my first impressions. When I was first handed the tablet, I thought my wife was holding a magazine or some printer paper. This tablet is really thin. I put it up next to an iPad mini and didn't see that big a difference side by side though. The tablet is really light. I thought the original Tablet S was light, but this feels like a phone, especially when compared directly to the Tablet S. The Xperia ion feels a little heavier, and the Xperia SL feels about the same, as far as perceptions go. The UI is interesting, and not too heavy. As you swipe through the home screens, it rotates in an arc between each page. I thought it was subtle enough to not detract from the experience. The colors are really nice. I am a little unsure about why the reviews have complained about viewing angles. I turned the tablet so far that the auto rotate kicked in at all angles, and could still read the website I was looking at without trouble. In my experience, the viewing angles are fine. I haven't tested in sunlight yet, though. The Super Auto function on the camera didn't work as well as I'd hoped. I got a grainy photo in low light. When I set it to night mode manually, I got much better quality. I expect to be taking a lot more photos, so figuring out the ideal settings shouldn't be too hard. I am glad that Sony finally ditched the proprietary chargers for this tablet. The microSD charger was a great idea. I still have a lot of accessories for the Tablet S, and since the Z was announced early enough, I didn't stock up on Xperia Tablet S accessories. Three tablets with three connectors can be annoying, but at least Sony moved in a better direction. I ran the tablet through Quadrant, Vellamo, and PassMark, and it did quite well against the other devices. Overall I am very satisfied with the tablet. It looks great, has features I like, and is very easy to hold in terms of weight. Though I am still fond of the Tablet S and Xperia Tablet S, this one is the best Sony tablet I've owned so far. All that is missing is that keyboard cover Sony displayed at Mobile World Congress.
