Weakness: TAKES A FEW SEC, TO WARM UP

Got the tv from my freind because it was showing the filter need cleaning message and he dint want to deal with it..took it home and pull the lamp out and also the second trap door and cleaned it with some of the compressed air that u use for keyboards and wiped the lence and all surfaces with a soft towl. Put it back together and now works perfect. just need to clean it once in a while to make sure it dosent get dusty

NO problems yet, great TV, very happy
4 Star Review

Strengths: Great HD picture and plenty off connections to hook up external devices. Good price.

Weakness: Non-HD picture not so great, typical for HD TVs. Speaker sound quality not great but I have surround sound anyway.

Overall, this is a great TV. I purchased it I believe in late 2005 or early 2006. I haven't had 1 problem yet with it. I am very satisfied. The picture quality of this TV compared to my friend's 42" Plasma is very comparable, I actually like mine a little better. Not to mention his plasma just went out and starts randomly powering off now, he purchased his a few months after I purchased mine.

Excellent TV for the price
4 Star Review   By member mvx090 - Feb 28, 2007

Strengths: 18 month bulb replacement warranty 8000 hour bulb lifespan Low price Native 720p resolution Good HD picture quality Good sound quality for built-in speakers

Weakness: Difficulty with 1280x720 resolution through the VGA input. Must connect computer through the HDMI port to achieve true 1280x720 resolution As with all LCD projection TVs Limited viewing angle

I purchased this TV four months ago and it has served me well since then. For the price, this is as good as it gets. 52 amazing inches of brilliant HD content. I watched the superbowl on this TV through a digital HD cable box and the picture was stunning. I had a smaller LCD TV next to it displaying normal SDTV and the difference was like night and day. Motion blur is minimal with this TV but present. As with all projection TVs the optimal viewing angle is smaller than a flat LCD or plasma but it is fine for a large bedroom or living room. Panasonic includes an extended 18 month bulb replacement plan and then a 12 month warranty on the replacement bulb which is much better than any other projection TV. If you plan on hooking up a computer to this TV you will need a DVI to HDMI cable as the VGA input is unable to properly display the native resolution of 1280x720. The built-in speakers on this TV are surprisingly good (for built-ins) and are capable of putting out some pretty noticeable bass.

Amazing Television for the Casual Home Theater
4 Star Review   By member jbcrum - Jan 31, 2007

Strengths: QAM Tuner; Multiple inputs available; 18 month bulb warranty; Highly configurable picture options; Excellent for gaming applications; Only around 60 pounds in weight

Weakness: Takes a few seconds to warm up initially due to the type of LCD projection; Uses a bulb which is ultimately a consumable which will need to be purchased later.

This HDTV has a QAM tuner which enables most to receive unencrypted HDTV signals out of the box over your regular coaxial cable service. This is a huge plus! Additionally, there are plenty of inputs for HD DVD players, video game systems, satellite or cable boxes. Unlike plasma there is absolutely no lag when playing video games. I've played plenty of Xbox 360 and Wii on this television and am continually blown away by the picture quality. For the price, you cannot go wrong with this set.

Excellent Value
5 Star Review   By member gatorj - Dec 22, 2006

Strengths: Exellent picture in HiDef, LCD, built in HighDef Tuner, HDMI input, light weight.

Weakness: A second HDMI input would be nice.

I also purchased this TV during the Circuit City black Friday sale for $899 after coupon. It replaced a Mitsubishi Diamond Series 55" widescreen. The profile of this set is so much smaller than the huge Mitsu, it actually makes the room appear larger. PQ is excellent with HiDef sources, very acceptable with standard sources. The HDMI connector is a plus, but I wish Panasonic had included a second one. Prior versions of this model had a problem with premature bulb failure, but Panasonic indicates that has been resolved. I certainly hope they are correct. The remote is logically arranged and sound quality is good. The special pricing made this purchase a no brainer, but the TV is an excellent quality set and would have been a good purchase at its normal price.

Panasonic PT52LCX66
4 Star Review   By member 7833louis - Dec 16, 2006

Strengths: screen quality, fairly easy to set up

Weakness: detailed operations are somewhat hard to understand, wires associated with accompanying sound system are cumbersome

I am very excited about our purchase. The screen looks great and I am enjoying the surround sound. I do not fully understand how to take full advantage of all that the machine can do. I think a help disk to go along with the TV would be smart then I could have popped in my computer and would hopfully have a good reference for how to set up including pictures as well as explanation of what the TV is capable of and how to operate in detail. I was happy with the price as we took advantage of the after Thanksgiving sale.

Panasonic 52 Inch LCD
4 Star Review   By member sriram50 - Dec 8, 2006

Strengths: Price

Weakness: Too bright

Hats off to Panasonic for selling a moster at a mouse's price... The build is good, looks great, light, got VGA inputs, reads SD card and more than anythig it has QAM which picks up all the HD channels without subscriptions. Thats like 70$/yr. Great Buy! Highly Reccommended

Great HDTV for the price!
4 Star Review   By member newhemidude - Dec 6, 2006

Strengths: price, picture, size and weight are MUCH better than the CRT it replaced. Primetime television in HD is amazing! It's free too! It has an HDMI input.

Weakness: It could use more HDMI and component inputs. It's a 720p display. 1080i would be better.

I bought the PT52LCX66 on black friday. It was $900 so I couldn't pass it up. It has a great picture that definitely needs some tweaking out of the box. Once you get the settings right it is a very good picture. I'd recommend one of the home theater setup discs (AVIA) for this. Some of the DVDs are a little bit grainy but I think that's because my DVD player is a few years old. With a newer upconverting player, I'm sure this tv would look great!

Awesome TV if you can get it at a good price!
4 Star Review   By member Louse76 - Dec 4, 2006

Strengths: The TV's clarity is amazing! Both HDMI and VGA inputs!

Weakness: The speakers on this unit are just horrible. Plan to have something else to project the sound. Also, no Picture in Picture (if that matters).

I am very lucky that I picked this up for $1k before tax. At that price, it is a STEAL! It is a heck of an upgrade going from a 1080i CRT rear projection TV. However, the colors on the unit are just TOO MUCH out of the box. Even turning them down, they seem to jump out now and then. This can be a good or a bad thing... sometimes it looks pretty, but it is just not realistic. The clarity is just SUPERB! I can browse the internet at full resolution and make out every pixel! It also does a pretty good job of smoothing artifacts. There are many nice features on the unit. I really like that you can shut off outputs that are not being used. The ATSC (over the air HD) tuner is a really great thing to have. The SD card reader is neat, but it is just too slow to be usable. I will just spend the money and put a card reader into my Home Theater PC. Man, the speakers are just BAD for a TV of this caliber. I had to play with them to even make them usable. I didn't plan to have any other speakers in the living room, and the speakers in my old TV were ample. I am not looking for a theater experience, as I already have a theater built in another room of my house. These are just barely acceptable for living room use (maybe a very small living room). I will likely add a reciever and speakers, even though that really was not part of my plan. If you get it at a good price, you just can't lose. At $1600 or $1700, I'm not so sure. Also, of course it is a projection TV, but it is not extremely thick, at 16". However, you have to deal with bulbs. I believe it is rated at 3000 hours, which is roughly three years if you consistently average four hours per day of watching TV. I hear they run in the low $200's direct from Panasonic.

Awesome 1st HDTV TV!!
4 Star Review

Strengths: Light weight-compared to size. HD is Excellent!! Great Picture!! Plenty of inputs Case looks nice!

Weakness: Analog signals grainy-expected for HD tv's Onscreen Menu a little confusing

Just received tv yesterday. Courtesy of CC Home Delivery. For my 1st HDTV and screen size over 27" this is an excellent tv for the price (under $1000.00). Now I can't wait to get my HD DVR fron cable company. DVD's are superb looking.

Great TV
4 Star Review   By member bgtees - Nov 28, 2006

Strengths: HD picture quality is stunning, plus it has plenty of inputs, including HDMI. The case itself looks great also.

Weakness: As to be expected, the picture quality on standard definition broadcasts can be a little weak, but this is true on almost any HDTV. The remote is a bit cruddy for a TV of this price.

Great TV for the price, if you don't need something to hang on your wall (plasma) then you should give this TV a serious look. Just make sure you check for any dead pixels within your return period, and be aware of the bulb-replacement costs that RP-LDC and DLP entail.

Strengths: Built-in HD, HDMI port, PC compatibility, crisp clear picture.

Weakness: Sound.

This is a great budget HDTV. This is probably the best deal in this size range. You will not be disappointed. The picture is very clear and vivid. Highly recommended.

Incredible Value for the Money
5 Star Review   By member iyad - Nov 25, 2006

Strengths: Perfect picture, compact size, full array of connectivity options, Great value

Weakness: Configuration and setup menus a bit awkward, manual not very organized

I got this TV for less than $1k on Black Friday from Circuit City. I've never seen this TV in the store before or did a lot of research into HDTVs before, but the deal was too good to pass up so I ordered it online. To my surprise, CC called me and delivered on the same day (literally 10 hours after I placed my order). I got an HDTV antenna from a nearby electronics store to try and pick up some of the local HDTV broadcasts. Well, suffice to say I was astounded by this TV. The image quality in incredible. I picked up 8 local HDTV transmissions and watched a couple of college football games and I don't even like football! Football never looked this good before! I then popped in a DVD (connected via component cables) and watched it. The image was superb. Later, ABC showed Shrek 2 in HDTV, it was AMAZING! The TV itself is not heavy, easy to move around, there are a ton of connectors on the back and another full set on the front hidden behind a little door. The size is very compact, making it easy to slide in a tight cabinet. I really can't say enough good things about this TV, and I still haven't tried some of the other features yet like PC connectivity and SD card functionality. I had some issues with setting the TV to search for channels and configure the channels. I think Panasonic could've done a little better job at making this job easier- maybe making the manual a bit more intuitive.

Run... Don't Walk
5 Star Review   By member mikenphan - Nov 24, 2006

Strengths: HDMI input. Over the Air HD tuner reception, so can catch OTA programs in HD without Cable. Excellent LCD quality

Weakness: heavier and thicker (16 in thick) than Plasma (8 in thick)

I bought this Panasonic 52" LCD HD TV at the Black Friday price at Circuit City for only $899. That's a steal The HDMI input allows state of the art direct digital signal transfer from Hi Def DVD and A/V receiver.

Good Value for Price
4 Star Review   By member Frohdi - Nov 24, 2006

Strengths: Size, Price, Good Brand Name

Weakness: Little low on contrast

I have had this TV for 2 days and I am amazed at the clarity and quality. My movies play beautifully on the screen and the picture is bright and clear. I have HDTV cable and it looks awesome on this TV. The contrast is lower than I am used to and it does take a few seconds to warm up .. but overall, a very good value for the money!

Okay projection TV
3 Star Review   By member doreamon22 - Nov 24, 2006

Strengths: Low price

Weakness: Contra is not so good, compare to LCD or Plasma TV

Just brought this TV today. The overall resolution is not as good as I thought. But at least it can be connected to my PC and XBox. It would be nice if it comes with more peripheral connections.

Great TV
4 Star Review   By member jaypz314 - Nov 23, 2006

Strengths: Excellent picture quality

Weakness: None at the moment

Great TV and so far no problems. It has excellent picture and the sound is not bad. With HDTV and a built in tuner it is a great price for this TV. I would recommend buying it. There is no doubt I would buy this TV again.

i have this TV for 6months, now i getting one for my family as an xmas present(cant resist because of the sales). The picture blows away anything even close to the same price and size. My friends have plasmas and they are upset they paid so much for the same picture as mine. In fact, the picture is BRIGHTER with this TV. Don't waste your time, buy this TV!

Worth every penny!
4 Star Review   By member atubo - Nov 23, 2006

Strengths: This is quite an economical product. Bought at Circuit City below $1000.

Weakness: Still bulky than LCD and Plasma. But defintely worth the money.

Personally, I perfer a LCD TV. I pondering between the SONY BRAVIA 40" LCD and Panasonic 42" plasma. Since the high rating of Panasonic plasma, and instable quality complaint of BRAVIA 40" LCD, I almost decide to buy Panasonic 42" plasma. But it does not have laptop interface. Finally, I decide on buy a more bulky, but more complete function of Panasonic LCD projection TV. I love this TV
