Mitsubishi HD4000 DLP Projector Review
2.5 Star Review  audioholics.com - Apr 16, 2006

Mitsubishi has built a solid reputation over the last decade manufacturing high quality, high performance display devices and is an industry leader in the implementation of DLP technology. Front projection systems are becoming popular in many typical home theaters, and it’s no surprise that Mitsubishi has several front projectors to choose from including the recently introduced HD4000. The HD4000 is the second 1280x768 dark chip 2 projector we have reviewed thus far. We were very impressed with the previous 1280x768 projector, the Optoma HD-72. Naturally one would assume that because the projectors share the same DMD technology that they would be similar in performance characteristics. We were very surprised to find out that that was NOT the case.

4 Star Review  projectorcentral.com - Mar 29, 2006

Buyers of the HD4000 will be paying a premium for native WXGA resolution and high lumen output in a portable package. It is a unique solution on the market that will be perfect for those who want bright, widescreen data presentation use at the office, as well as portability for multiple commercial venues, and/or part time personal entertainment at home. If we were using it in this manner, we'd activate BrilliantColor to produce bright presentations in our commercial work, and turn off BrilliantColor when using it for video at home. We have given it a high rating for value because for the person who needs this particular type of projector, there is nothing else on the market quite like it.

Wonderful for movies and computers!
5 Star Review   By member schworak - May 9, 2006

Strengths: Small size, easy to install, great image, great contrast and brightness even in a room where controlling the light is a problem. Very quiet!

Weakness: Can't stretch a 4:3 letter box movie to full screen 16:9 like my TV can. It does have a stretch mode but only for standard 4:3 (non-letter box) images to make them sort of 16:9.

For the money, this is the best true wide screen projector I have seen so far and I looked at a lot of them. I hooked it up to controll my screen to auto lower. The remote has three buttons for quickly switching between preset image modes. We use this for viewing at different times of the day (day, evening, night) to quickly bring the brightness of the image to the best mode. This is a great projector.
