Nice machine
5 Star Review   By RB on Adorama - Aug 27, 2013

Solid Sony design and excellent performance. Lack of lighted controls a minor issue in low light viewing conditions.

Excellent!
5 Star Review   By RainingFridays on Sony - Official Store - Aug 22, 2013

This is an excellent improvement over the previous product and, obviously, top-notch that one can view Blu-ray disks on it. My only mildly negative comment is that when you're not using the remote control, it can be a bit difficult to get the unit to respond to touch; it's very sensitive. Still, a great, great value - excellent!

BDP S 1100
3 Star Review   By MadiaG on Adorama - Aug 4, 2013

I just bought BDP S 1100 player, well it's small and compact so it doesn't take up spaces.. When i played movies from usb port (external hardrive), the picture is not as good (sharp) as when i played it directly from the tv ( I used the Sony W67 series that can played movies from external hardrive)...maybe it's because i don't use gold plated hdmi cable And the BDP S1100 can't recognize .srt file (subtitle file)....I hope Sony Team soon will provide system software update that can support .srt file (the latest software update from sony has not support .srt files yet) And also in the option menu i can't find menu to adjust video properties such as colour, contrast, etc...

Is not wireless
1 Star Review   By Ironwoman on Adorama - May 22, 2013

I can't believe this needs a LAN adapter that's $80 to get internet access. What a joke. I thought everything works wireless in this day and age. booooo!

Great Entry Level Player
5 Star Review   By enavarro0764 on Adorama - May 14, 2013

Great entry level blu ray player with a great price. And YESS!!! YOU NEED A ETHERNET CABLE!!! as does every other entry level model. Dont see the need for people posting negative reviews for their own mistake.

Sans wireless
2 Star Review   By martinex on Adorama - May 3, 2013

I don't know how I missed the fact that this bluray player connected through a wired connection only (what century are we in again?). The good is that this player plays most video formats. If you're like me and you've backed up your video files to BluRay disks Sony players are a godsend. My other complaint is that the Audio interface cable is not provided. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but the Digital coax output interface doesn't match any of my previous audio connections (like optical for instance). An addition purchase is required which means I can't use the thing right out of the box.

Plug and Play
5 Star Review   By HealthyWealthyWisdom on Adorama - May 3, 2013

Easy to set up - just plug in to internet, plug in HDMI, register at Sony....already watched a DVD and am now enjoying Pandora...so easy - the remote even works both the player and my TV.

Doesn't work - can't connect
1 Star Review   By DEWer on Adorama - Apr 14, 2013

Out of box, replace a working Roku box (HDMI & Ethernet connections). HDMI ok, would not connect automatically to the network. I tried to input setting manually--the Sony rejected every field--IP, DNS, Gateway--and what the heck is the preset "Prefix" field? When Sony works, it's great, but recent products reflect failing quality and indifference to user needs.

Excellent
5 Star Review   By Suziq13 on Sony - Official Store - Jan 11, 2013

Bought for my granddaughter's 3rd birthday. She takes trips with my parents and they are not tech swavey so thought this would make their trips easier with a toddler. Perfect for travel plus I use in my craft room. Headset is a must.

A solid and versatile player
5 Star Review   By IntrepidExplorer on Sony - Official Store - Oct 20, 2012

I will probably not need to buy another player for a long time since this unit plays such a wide variety of content and seems to be very well built. It's casing doesn't even creek when I raise and swivel the screen into position. During operation, the noise from the drive is minimal so I don't have to put on headphones to thuroughly enjoy its sound. I love being able to play music CDs, DVD and blu-ray movies, and even raw footage from my HDR-TD20V on data disks!

Very versatile design!
5 Star Review   By GentlmnGQ1 on Sony - Official Store - Sep 11, 2012

This is an awesome little player! I am a Ballroom dance instructor and I use this player every day! In the studio, I swivel and flip the screen and study our dance training videos while moving around on the dance floor with the player in my hands. The picture quality is really impressive on its LCD screen and I like that I can hook it up to a hi-def TV via HDMI. The menu options are many and easy to navigate. There are only a few things I would improve upon. The sound quality from the built-in speakers(which isn't bad for as small as they are) could be better. The buttons are sometimes unresponsive at first and require a second touch. Having a back-light of some sort on the buttons would make watching movies in the dark easier. Overall this is a fantastic player and I forsee getting many more hours of enjoyment from it!
