A great plasma Panasonic TV
4 Star Review   By member NISHIPRASAD8 - May 5, 2008

Strengths: great pictue quality, very good sound, good contrast ratio 10000:1,

Weakness: Glare issue

This was my best christmas gift. I simply love the tv. It has great contrast , crisp picture with great sound. The normal analog and digital channel looks great. It was very easy to setup and the remote also very easy to operate. I was able to set this up in like 20 mins. There is some glare issue in day light but if you put the curtain on .. every thing will look great.

My first Plasma TV
4 Star Review   By member m_gupta001 - Apr 28, 2008

Strengths: great contrast ratio,nice picture,good audio,god price

Weakness: pixle Burnin issue, no DVI port, glaring

I had bought LCD tv earlier( 42 inch Envision from staples). once i hooked that up to my cable, the normal digital was awful , it was even worst than our older CRT. HD channel was good. So we returned that tv to staples and decided to buy this TV and we are very happy since then with this purchase. HD channels comes great and normal channel also we enjoy. So I will recommend this TV to every one.

excellent all around tv
5 Star Review   By bobshari02 on Beach Camera - Mar 15, 2008

Strengths: The color and the clarity is great. Black you cant say anything about, very good. good sound even without additional speakers.

Weakness: None really. well a small draw back that their are not side/front a/v inputs. but not really a big deal.

This is my first HDTV ever, came up from a toshiba 27' tube, and i love it. For the price its goin at, you cant buy anything better. Panasonic is a very well known brand and can be trusted for quality. I dont have HD cable yet, so all im running is a S-video cable from my sat. box and analog tv looks great, my neighbor thought i had HD programming. Its just a great buy, and you dont need 1080p. LCD vs. Plasma war Doesnt really matter between the two. '

Panasonic TH-42PX75U Plasma
5 Star Review   By member mosaberi - Jan 18, 2008

Strengths: picture quality, 2 HDMI, and price

Weakness: none so far

After months of research, I decided to buy Panasonic TH50PX77U because of antiglare coating but found out that Panasonic is about to discontinue the model and Sears had TH42PX75U on sale for a price I could not refuse. Watching DVD on this TV is awesome. The HD stations are also very good but some local stations at times is pixelated. The speakers could be more powerful but for the price and picture quality, I am very satisfied. If you want most bang for your buck, Panasonic plasma is without a doubt the best choice.

Nice color, great contrast, loving it
5 Star Review   By member ysangong - Dec 30, 2007

Strengths: Color, contrast, finish, SD/SDHC photo feature, easy-to-use

Weakness: no front input/output, sound setting is very limited, no pc/vga/dvi input

In general, happy with the purchase. Used it a lot in sharing photos with friends coming to my house this holiday season, we are very satisfied with the color and crystal clean details of the pictures. We use it to watch HD dvd movies, though the sound setting is too naive, we use our discrete home theater audio system, so it is not a big deal for us. With the price, we are happy with this HDTV set.

Great Deal!
5 Star Review   By member ggreene1 - Dec 28, 2007

Strengths: Picture, ease of use, size

Weakness: None yet

Only had the TV for a week and am very impressed. Picture is excellent and since I use a home theater system, sound is as well. I've seen some comments about the TV speakers, but not an issue for me. I am replacing a 5 year old rear projection Toshiba that blew the color mat and Toshiba basically said 'tough'. It would cost over $400 to repair, the deal I got on this TV made the decision very simple and I am very happy. I'm a little concerned about burn in since my son is a gamer, but nothing yet - we'll have to see. I have read from several sources that this is not a big issue anymore - hope they are right. Definitely a good deal and would recommend to everyone.

My First Plasma Experience
5 Star Review   By jclguru on Buydig.com - Dec 28, 2007

Strengths: The two HDMI connections, all of the extra other connections and easy setup.

Weakness: None.

Its been barely a day since I've had this tv and I am in love with it! The tv itself was very easy to setup. I had the tv connected to the stand, wires hooked up and watching cable channels within 30 minutes. The sleeper with this tv is the sound. The sound is amazing in my small living room. The delivery was also top notch. Watching tv is enjoyable again.

Great middle-range Plassma TV
4 Star Review   By member haha2005 - Dec 23, 2007

Strengths: - Nice black finished design - Pictures are sharp - SD card reader for picture viewing

Weakness: - No VGA input for PC - Little bit of picture noise - No universal remote

I've bought this plasma TV to replace an 30" tube HDTV. I'm really happy with the TV. DVDs look amazing sharp, but if you sit about 2 feet from the screen, you will notice some noises. There are a lot of connections: 2 x HDMI, 2 x Audio input, 3 x Composite video input, 3 x S-Video input, 3 x Audio input, 2 x Component video input, 2 x Component audio input, 1 x Composite video output, 1 x Audio output, 1 x Digital audio output. However, VGA input is missing. If you want to connect your PC, you should consider buying s DVI to HDMI cable or S-video cable. Of course, you can always use a composite cable but pictures are a little blurry. The sound is good but not great. If you only watch regular channels, you don't have to worry. If you watch HD channels or DVDs, you should connect the TV to a home theater system. Otherwise you would miss out a lot of slam bang sound. Overall, this TV is really good for the price. I really enjoy watching it. Hope you have a good time with this TV too.

Great Deal on Black Friday
5 Star Review   By BlazeRules on OnSale.com - Nov 24, 2007

Strengths: Picture quality, Price

Weakness: No PIP, hissing noise on volume

Got this at an unbelieveable price because Sears sold out to the Sharp 46" that I was in line for. This is by far an awesome deal and a much better TV then the LCD I would have gotten...although it is not 1080p I can live with the exceptional picture quality in HD and SD. About the sound, it hissed when the volume was turned up...but, I use a home theatre system, so sound is not an issure for me. I am please to say I would have bought this even at regular price of 1499. But I got it for 899!!!! Thanks Sears for changing my mind. ...

vibrant colors, excellent HDTV output
4 Star Review   By member fvpawli - Oct 15, 2007

Strengths: Plenty of inputs - 2 component, 2 HDMI, reg video, S-video, amzing HD picture quality

Weakness: 720p and mediocre standard def TV output

Well I have to admit that on display this TV was one of the most impressive in its group. The colors are vibrant the picture is sharp on HDTV signals. The same held true when I hooked it up at home. Plenty of inputs and decent style frame. I have used both the compnent inputs and HDMI inputs with excellent results. Also Panasonic is running a $200 rebate on installation right now so between the base price, rebate and quality of the TV this TV stood out on many levels of the 720P TV's that I was looking at. The only disappointment is that standard definitionTV just isn't the same as that on my standard def 32" SOny and 36" JVC. I understand why this is but still a disappointment of sorts. Overall I would recommend this as a 5 star on the deal I picked it up on but am holding back a star for the standard def picture quality.

Great Features
5 Star Review   By philr98105 on OnSale.com - Oct 3, 2007

Strengths: Color clarity and depth

Weakness: No PIP

The Panasonic line has one thing that sets them apart from any other manufacturer, their GalleryPlayer feature. There isn’t a ton of HD programming, especially not in 1080p, out on the market so to really show off my TV I throw some GalleryPlayer art and photography onto an SD card and plug it in. Martinis and margaritas in 1080p look better than a football game on the TV during a party or even when I’m just reading. GalleryPlayer gives you some free images to start with and if you want to buy more, they’re as cheap as $0.99. Monet, Degas, da Vinci… lots of stuff you can’t get anywhere else as well as photography from around the world. Plain and simple - Plasma/LCD TVs are being made better and cheaper everyday, the new Panasonic line really pulled ahead of the pack with the addition of the GalleryPlayer feature.

5 Star Review   By member seema_b_g - Sep 30, 2007

Strengths: great price, looks great and execellent colors

Weakness: remote design is just ok

We have been very pleased with this purchase. It was reasonably priced and makes a big difference when watching both television and dvd movies. The picture is so much clearer and more defined that other tv's. The picture is able to be viewed clearly from any angle just as clearly as sitting straight on. We would highly recommend this purchase.

Great TV - reliable
5 Star Review   By member gpiyush - Sep 19, 2007

Strengths: Nice HD image quality Reliable product (at least since I have owned this!!)

Weakness: Remote could be better Haven't found a way to switch INPUT from my DISH remote. I can control vol and power etc just not input yet

This is my second HDTV Plasma and I love this. If you haven't taken plunge in to HDTV, this is the time. 720P is good enough quality so don't wait for good deal on reputed brand TV with 1080P. We watch TV from almost 8-10 ft and you do not see pixelization while viewing HD source through HDMI. I would recommend tuning setting s after 7-10 days of use using something like AVIA or other similar products. When I say reliable in title because my Samsung blew it's power supply after 20 days of use. Build of Panasonic sturdy compared to other.. I know you are not going to start fighting with it my little kids do try to reach out to base and try to shake it up.. this one doesn't move, shake ...

Panasonic 42
4 Star Review   By member hchung0 - Aug 13, 2007

Strengths: - picture quality is amazing - black bezel looks better than silver - price/benefit is great

Weakness: - burn in image still exists, but has vastly improved.

This model offers the best benefit for its cost. Panasonic is well known for its high contrast (this model offers 10,000:1). If you're looking for something in the $2000 range, this tv is great. If your budget is higher, the Pioneer brand is the better way to go. The picture quality is very clear, sharp and even better with the HD box. The resolution is excellent. I also compared this model to an LCD and you can see quality differences between them (the picture quality is clearer and the color is fantastic). I just watched a movie on this tv the other day and the picture and color looked amazing. I've yet to watch football on the tv, but I've been told by other owners that the color is pops more so than an LCD. I aslo love the black shell vs the silver shell. It makes the picture quality stand out even more (think about it...the color black makes all colors brighter and stand out more) and it looks sleeker. The warranty claims that you'd have 60,000 hours of usage before the tv's color reaches its mid life. That's approx 20 years at and average of 8 hours/day. For the money and overall satisfaction, go with this tv. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Panasonic TH-42PX75U 42" Plasma TV
5 Star Review   By member RobDC - Jul 4, 2007

Strengths: Screen size, Number of connections

The TV was extremely easy to connect to my DVD and cable (Comcast) inputs. I was initially trying to decide between the 37" Sharp Aquos 1080p TV and this one. I eventually decided that the additional screen size was a suitable trade off for not having native 1080p resolution. This TV will take a 1080 signal, but it then downgrades it to 720p.

Pleased with my choice
5 Star Review   By member Brainman1972 - Jun 28, 2007

Strengths: Beautiful picture, HD Tuner, 2HDMI, Stand included.

Weakness: none so far.

My first HD TV and my first plasma. I upgraded from a 10 yr old 19 inch TV. I was a little worried when i first got it because I did not have the correct cables and the picture was not very good when viewing an HD channel( i have no experience with hooking up an HD TV). After purchasing the correct cables I was shocked at how clear and beautiful the picture was. Standard Def channels are not that great but High Def channels will bring a tear to your eye. I have an Up-converted DVD player and even the movies looked great. So far i could not be happier with my choice.

TH-42PX75U 42
5 Star Review   By member triangle 3 - Jun 24, 2007

Strengths: Sharp picture clarity, brilliant true color, attractive appearance

Weakness: none, so far

I decided to purchase this Panasonic product based upon a review by a consumer magazine and research I did that indicated that Panasonic was one of the few companies to manufacture both the screen and the components of the TV. I took it out of the box, connected the cables and was immediately satisfied by the performance of the set.

Good bang for the buck
4 Star Review   By member dzweng - Jun 16, 2007

Strengths: Excellent picture quality

Weakness: Speakers are a disapoinment with not enough power

This TH-42PX75U 42" was bought to replace my 10-year old tube in the family room. The picture quality is excellent, the hook-up options are enough except the speakers are not powerful enough for a 42" tv. In my opinion, a tv of this size would be good for general viewing, and not too many people are willing to spend serious money for a full-featured home theater system for it. Therefore, the two speakers with maximum 10W output each at 10% THD is really a turn-off. Other than that, I have no complain for this tv, and would have rated this tv five star.

The Best Quality & Value
5 Star Review   By member ju421019 - Jun 3, 2007

Strengths: - Excellent Picture - Panasonic Brand Name - Price

Weakness: - No VGA port (Avaiable in the next model up) - No S-Video in the front.

Alright, I already have a 42PX60U and 42PX600U model. I needed another one, so as you know the PX75U is the new line for 2007. What are the differences, well from what are obvious, a slick black color all over, looks great, and a better stand, weight is lighter too. Honestly, at this point I think very few retailers are carrying the 60U series anymore, most of them cleared. If they even are, well no use buying them unless you get them at $1000 or less. Better to go with the newer line. There are other features too which I haven't used yet. Note there is no VGA port in the 75X model, but is available in the next model up, the 75X model is like the 60U model. I considered the Pioneer and Samsung model, which compare to the Panny, so I narrowed it down to the Panasonic and Pioneer. There was a $300 difference between the Panny and Pioneer, so I went with the Panasonic. Note, I already have two other Panasonic plasmas, and all my friends go with the Panasonic. Overall, I got this at a great price ($1250 Shipped, no tax) from a online retailer through pricegrabber. I love the TV, and everyone who visits highly compliments the slick black look. The only thing that I dont like is there is no S-Video port on the front of the TV, the 60 and 600U models, had front ports, which included S-Video. It's just easier to connect a laptop directly. Also, as I mentioned earlier since there is no VGA port, you can use a DVI to HDMI cable to connect a computer, they are pretty cheap to buy.

Strengths: Great Blacks, Beautiful looking

Weakness: None that other Plasma's don't also have

This is a great TV. The new black bezel creates a sleek look that looks 200% better then the previous silver models. The TV is the same great quality I've come to expect from Panasonic plasmas
