iPod nano now has a built-in video camera that lets you spontaneously shoot video wherever you are. And that's just the beginning. It has a dramatic, polished anodized aluminum finish and a larger screen. The Genius Mixes feature acts as your personal DJ, automatically searching your iTunes library, then making mixes you'll love. Take iPod nano anywhere and the Pedometer counts your steps. Also making its debut: a built-in FM radio with two features iTunes Tagging and Live Pause. So the popular music player now has more to play with.

5th Generation Apple iPod Nano Review
4.5 Star Review  about.com - Dec 31, 1969

Viewed head on, the 5th generation iPod nano looks nearly identical to its 4th generation predecessor, but flip it over and, when you see the lens of a camera and a pinhole mic, you know that this is a different iPod indeed.

Apple iPod Nano (fifth generation, 8GB, silver)
4 Star Review  cnet.com - Sep 14, 2009

THE GOOD: Packed to the gills with new audio-video features such as a video camera, FM radio, voice recording, Genius Mixes, a built-in speaker, and a larger 2.2-inch screen; also gets a pedometer. THE BAD: The Nanos camera cant shoot photos or HD-quality video and Apple located its lens in the most awkward location imaginable. Storage capacities remain stuck at 8GB and 16GB. THE BOTTOM LINE: No other MP3 player on the planet packs more features, from video to a pedometer, into a smaller package than the overachieving Apple iPod Nano.

Apple iPod Nano | Silver - 8GB
4 Star Review  productwiki.com - Dec 1, 2009

The Apple iPod nano 5G is an advanced iPod announced by Apple in September of 2009. It maintains the same basic outward appearance as its fourth-generation predecessor — sleek body, aluminum casing, and white clickwheel — but there are a tad few changes. The most dramatic improvements include a larger 2.2” LCD screen in the front AND a VGA camcorder in the back. Essentially, Apple is trying to combat the notorious Flip Video (and other mini video recorder products) and will in fact even be pricing the Nano (8GB) at $149.99, which is the same price for an entry-level Flip camcorder. Other notable features include FM radio, a pedometer, and even a microphone with a voice recorder. Included also a plethora of spiffy video effects/filters: heat vision, tunnel vision, security cam vision, B&W, sepia, light tunnel, cyborg. Features Fifth Generation iPod Nano Announced September, 2009 2.2” LCD Screen VGA Camcorder H.264 ... PROS: (1) now includes FM radio (2) larger 2." display (3) small and lightweight (4) built-in microphone for recording audio (5) built-in Nike + - now with pedometer ... CONS: (1) created to be used as part of a closed system - iTunes, Apple music store and iPod (2) limited codec support - no FLAC, OGG, WMA, etc... support (3) only takes videos; no support for still image capture (4) new video features are mostly useless - silly product line direction (5) same capacities as previous generation
