RC80i In Ceiling Speakers
5 Star Review   By member OnlineShopper2424 - Mar 24, 2008

Strengths: Easy to Install. Great full sound.

Weakness: Slightly less bass than bookshelf speakers.

I bought both RC85i wall speakers and matched them with these RC80i Ceiling Speakers. I love the sound and my wife loves not having speakers sitting around. I was a little concerned with how the Ceiling speakers would install as my house was prewired and had boxes installed on the studs. Installation took me less than an hour for all four speakers. Even though the boxes (and the hole left when removed)were on the stud, the rim of the speaker still covered the hole with no drywall repair needed. Love these speakers!

Not too bad
4 Star Review   By member edimick1015 - Mar 19, 2008

Strengths: Decent sound, reasonable price

Weakness: Could have better assembly quality

These speakers fit the bill for me to install in a finished ceiling. Just cut the hole, make the connections and tighten the screws to anchor the speakers behind the sheetrock. That is it. Fairly easy and you are done. Aimable tweeters let you experiment with the sound. Overall not bad for the price.

Get the job done
4 Star Review   By member mrgoodsize - Feb 22, 2008

Strengths: Decent appearance, easy installation

Weakness: Made in china

Overall a decent speaker for the price. Fairly simple to install by just cutting the hole using the included template and turning screws on the mounting bracket to allow locking tabs to make contact with the ceiling. Sounds good but not great although the ability to aim the tweeters helps somewhat. Only had them for a few days now and I hope they last for a while since most items made in china nowadays don't.

Good sound quality, Great price
5 Star Review   By member sudheerv1 - Feb 16, 2008

Strengths: Good sound, easy install, Excellent option for surround sound speakers

Weakness: None so far

Using these speakers from last 2 months in media room as my backside surround sound speakers, using onkyo receiver with Polk RTi8/CSI-A4/PSW110 set. I am very happy with all this setup.. its an excellent quality for a reasonable price. I definitely recommend this pair. BTW, I took professional help for install. Though I think it was easy to install.

Nice sounding in-ceiling speakers
5 Star Review   By member sierra_nevadas - Dec 22, 2006

Strengths: Great for surround sound system; pointable speaker

Weakness: Somewhat Expensive

I installed this into a 7.1 surround sound media-room. They serve as the side-surround cpeakers. The system is driven by a Denon AVR-4306 A/V Receiver. Installation was easy (well, to be honest, it was done by my installer, but heck, he didn't charge much, so it must have been easy!!), and they sound great! We did some tweaking with the steerable tweeter to direct it to the sweet spot in the room. The polk audio web-site provides good info on this. As do the included instruction.

Good, not great
4 Star Review   By member befree05 - Dec 27, 2005

Strengths: Easy to install, sound will fill a large room

Weakness: Must be turned up loud to produce clear sound

We installed a pair of these speakers in the ceiling of a large living area. Easy installation using the included template even with a wood ceiling installed over sheetrock. They sound good at high volume levels and fill the large room with plenty of bass with no vibration or distortion. However, at lower volume, they are not as "crisp" as the Klipsch khc-6 ceiling speakers we have in another room. I have Polk speakers in all my vehicles because they have been "rock solid" performers. That's what lead me to try these for home use. I also have several sets of Polk outdoor speakers which are the best I have found in their price range(s). In summary, if you like your music loud, these would be the speakers for you. If you're using them for home theater, where dialogue can get lost at lower volume levels, you might want to consider some alternatives.
