Sony HT-CT260
4 Star Review cnet.com - May 7, 2013

THE GOOD: The Sony HT-CT260 delivers excellent sound quality for a budget sound bar/subwoofer system. It has a distinctive, angular design, plus a built-in remote control signal repeater in case the sound bar blocks your TVs remote sensor. Theres also integrated Bluetooth for wireless audio streaming from most smartphones and tablets. THE BAD: Some similarly priced sound bars sound even better. And the hexagonal design may not be for everyone. THE BOTTOM LINE: The Sony HT-CT260 is our go-to budget sound bar pick, with excellent sound quality, built-in Bluetooth, an adaptable design, and no major missteps.

Best BANG for your buck!
5 Star Review By HVF4 on Sony - Official Store - Jan 2, 2014

I bought this for my parents. They have never experienced a soundbar before and this one is a great one to start with. It is a 2.1 Surround Sound bar that has a bunch of great features. It has HDMI, Optical, and 3.5mm Audio In. And as an added bonus....BLUETOOTH! Also the included subwoofer is....WIRELESS!!!! This sound bar has some great sound and it simulates Surround Sound really well. Great buy!

A very worthwhile accessory
5 Star Review By Tweak on Adorama - Sep 15, 2013

The charger allows you to charge a battery for your RX100 in 90 minutes, outside the camera, instead of tying up the camera while changing the battery in the camera with the OEM charger supplied with the camera. It also is strong enough to run the camera and comes with USB output as well. It's bundled with a battery which makes it a great deal. I gave only 4stars for design, be ause you have to carefully seat the battery in the charger to make sure the contacts line up. If you have done it right , the charging light comes on, then multiple green lights tell you what fraction of the charging is completed.

Charges good but Expensive
3 Star Review By mikmar on Adorama - Aug 26, 2013

I cannot rate the reliability, I have only had it a couple of weeks. It is difficult to get the battery in exactly the right place for charging, it gets better as you get used to it.

10 out of 10! Excellent Sound!
5 Star Review By COO7EY on Sony - Official Store - May 14, 2013

I have a Sony Bravia 60" LED and Sony Bluray player. I got this sound bar so everything I have would be Sony. Installs in 3 mins or less. Easy single plug hookup. Can also control my TV from sound bar remote. I couldn't ask for a better quality product. Works absolutely perfect for my setup and gives you complete, pure, movie quality sound and bass for a very very fair price. I would recommend to anyone wanting great sound with only a "good sound" money budget. 10 out of 10! In my opinion it's a must have.

Finally
4 Star Review By shiloh on Sony - Official Store - May 7, 2013

Finally, sound to match the picture quality of my new LED. I just picked up a new LED T.V. and the picture was great, but the sound was lousy!!!! So i started looking at soundbars and chose the HT-CT260, It was easy to set up (15 min) the sound is great, the unit looks good, the only con is the little Optical cable that comes with it. Its not long enough for anything. Other than that im very happy with it.

Very pleased
4 Star Review By manman66 on Sony - Official Store - Apr 7, 2013

I've had this system for five months and am very pleased. I moved from a house to an apartment and wanted a simple sound solution, and this was it. The Bluetooth connectivity is a great feature. The sound is clear, punchy and loud. Keep in mind this is not a 5.1 system, so don't expect a true surround sound experience. The 3D surround feature is gimicky in my opinion and can't really be heard. This system is best suited for for someone who wants an upgrade from TV speakers, Bluetooth and a decent sound. Look for it on sale, as $350 is steep. Night mode is a great feature for anyone living in an apartment, but I hardly use it. NOTE: A review complained about not being able to connect the optical cable. I had the same issue, until I realized I needed to remove the protective plastic on either end of the cable (a duh moment). I ended up buying a longer optical cable, as the supplied 3-foot cable was just too short. Honestly, Sony, for a few pennies more you could have supplied a 5' cable and made your customers much happier. I'm not going to get into an audiophile-type of review, since this is not a high-end audio system. It's excellent at what it does - giving you great sound for the price, loud, punchy and clear, Bluetooth connectivity, a few audio modes and the convenience of a wireless subwoofer. I do find the subwoofer's finish is a bit cheap looking, but I got over it. You will too.

This is the ONE
5 Star Review By Trinitron on Sony - Official Store - Mar 4, 2013

If your looking at sound bars, like me you've decided you don't want to loose the real estate around your LED TV, or the wife has threatened to place the wires and speakers in an inappropriate place. Problem solved the CT260 is easy to connect and will rock your world. SONY's S Force works, to create room filling sound better than brand V or S. Plus with Bluetooth pairing my tablet, phone and PC can stream directly to it.

Great Sound, Set up easy
5 Star Review By Baseballguy on Sony - Official Store - Jan 29, 2013

Very good price and quality. Comes with 3ft. optical digital cable, which is useless. I bought a 12ft. cable to feed through the wall, but most people could use a 6ft. cable, buy online and save as they are only $3-4 each. Sound is better if you have 8-10ft distance from sound bar and wireless woofer. Great buy for the price..

Great little system!
5 Star Review By Senko on Sony - Official Store - Jan 26, 2013

This is a great system, I was very happy with the ease of setup, the bluetooth features as well as the sound the system produces. The 3 ft optical provided is a joke, I have a Sony 55" BRAVIA® HX701 and the hookups are on the opposite end of the soundbar and the cable doesn't even reach, you would figure that Sony would at least make sure their products could hook up to each other with the hardware provided. I had to go out and spend another $30 dollars on a optical cable that would reach.

Don't go there
1 Star Review By RealisticRick on Sony - Official Store - Jan 1, 2013

Well, where to start? Guess I'll come clean up front and state that this was a gift that I neither wanted or needed. Nonetheless I got it for Christmas anyway. Once I got it home my jaw dropped at the thought that a two speaker system such as this comes with a remote. Exactly what America needs: ANOTHER #$%&* REMOTE IN THE LIVING ROOM TO GET LOST BETWEEN SEAT CUSHIONS. What super genius at Sony thought that it would be a good idea to include a remote control so that your speakers can control your TV instead of the other way around as it should be? Anyway I sat down and read the instructions before I unwrapped a single piece of equipment. I’ve put together numerous computer systems together as well as set up modern televisions and stereos before, so I thought that this would be a breeze. I then walked over to begin the process of connecting it all together and this is where it stopped. It was supposed to come with three different audio cables. but there was only the one optical cable. One was bad enough to be sure. I tried for 90 minutes to get that stupid optical cable to fit in either the TV or the even stupider sound bar. No such luck there. Not only could I not get the optical cable into either tv or sound bar but the input into the sound bar was on the far right. Naturally this was the exact opposite side from the TV connection. The cable was barely able to reach which is moot anyway since I couldn't get the cable to fit the holes as it is. You’d think that they would have placed the inputs in the middle of the bar but that probably made too much sense. This was made worse by the fact that everything was black. Black cable to black holes in black appliance inside a black cubby hole that you can barely get you fingers into in an area of the living room that doesn't receive much light to begin with. If you thought that USB cables are a piece of engineering hubris in terms of real world use then optical cable connectors will make your head smoke as to how utterly ridiculous the design for this thing is. After being unable to connect the optical cable and missing the other two cables that were supposed to come with it, I threw in the towel. I’ll never know how good the sound was on this thing and quite frankly I don’t care. It is one sound bar and a sub woofer Sony. Not a mission to Mars. I don’t need a remote, LED readout, or hard to see and even harder to insert connections. This is going back ASAP.

Good Sound, Poor Installation & Set-Up
4 Star Review By BDrms on Sony - Official Store - Dec 26, 2012

Although the sound is very good, Sony planned the hanging set up very, very poorly. The pre-drilled holes in the sound bar do not correspond to wall studs so hanging the bar levelly and securely can be a real challenge. Next the provided audio cable is only about 2 feet long. This makes it 8 - 12 inches too short to reach the plug on any TV. Had to go back to the store and spend an additional $20+ to buy an audio cable long enough to do the job. If the sound bar required a longer audio cable it should have been provided. Cheap shot Sony! Had I known then what I know now, I would have spent more (or less) to avoid the hassles. As it is the Sony Sound Bar was $50 more than its next lower competitor with same sound quality. Only bought the Sony because of its aesthetics Hope this review helps someone else avoid a 2nd trip to the store...

Great features and value...
5 Star Review By SB51 on Sony - Official Store - Dec 20, 2012

I've avoided doing "surround sound" for a long time because I hate wires all over the place. No problem with that here... I also had my iPhone streaming music through this system in less than sixty seconds.

Equal Parts Quality and Value
4 Star Review By AdRock011 on Sony - Official Store - Nov 29, 2012

I bought this product seeking a low profile, clutter free replacement for my old school boxy all-in-one shelf stereo. I simply needed something small but powerful and reliable. If your situation is similar - this is the product for you. Setting up was a breeze really, though I was a bit annoyed that the optical cable is only about 2 feet long. Many will find they have to go buy their own. No coax/component audio or analog 3.5" jacked wires are supplied which makes no sense given how it must cost Sony pennies to produce. Anyway - the unit sounds awesome. It auto detects Dolby broadcast streams and automatically optimizes for best sound. You can also tweak the sound dynamics (movie, talk, music). The Bluetooth connectivity is a HUGE bonus for those with smartphones. Speakers produce crisp and clear sound Subwoofer is adequate. I don't think though you'd want this system for a great room or large living area. Small living rooms and bedrooms only and you got yourself a perfect, low cost solution!

Very good for the price
4 Star Review By olderguy on Sony - Official Store - Nov 17, 2012

When first connected I was underwhelmed when comparing it to my stereo system. But, the stereo cost about 3 times as much as this soundbar so this was not a fair comparison. The optical cable is a little short which limits where you can place the soundbar but it was so nice not to have a bunch of speaker and input cables to deal with. Sound can be very boomy and hollow if you do not use the correct settings but after a little experimentation the sound is definitely better than that from the TV (55EX645) and while not true surround is quite acceptable for the price. Bluetooth was easy to setup to my iPad and Mac Pro. I did think of returning it but now I have the settings sorted I am happy and will keep it.

Love it
5 Star Review By forgiven1 on Sony - Official Store - Nov 12, 2012

I tried and tried to get the optical cable to reach and gave up and had to blow more $$ that I had not counted on for a longer one. For some reason SONY puts the ports are on the left side of the TV but on the right on the sound bar?

Exceeded expectations
5 Star Review By Terry675 on Sony - Official Store - Nov 6, 2012

Sounds great as long as you are not expecting surrounds sound. very clean sound from both the speaker and sub in all modes. wireless sub sounds great and the setup takes all of 5 minutes. Love the bluetooth feature and that was the main reason I got this model.

HT-CT260
4 Star Review By goodcall on Sony - Official Store - Oct 15, 2012

I've had this device for just over a week. Spent the weekend watching both movies and sports. Messed around with the multiple sound options ie. Game / Movie / Standard / etc. Great options to have fun with on multiple devices and programs. I can not stress enough how excellent it is to have the Bluetooth option. You can pair the system with 9 devices (the tenth is the wireless subwoofer). Works with iPhone perfectly and it has a great range. Very crisp bass from the sub, not over-the-top, just right. We have hard wood floors and a 14 foot ceiling... fills the room without an echo.
