The Creative Labs Inspire T3100 multimedia system includes two two-way satellite speakers and a bass-optimized subwoofer designed to deliver pulsating sound waves. An upgrade from the Inspire A200, the T3100 offers an improved peak power output (56w versus 20w) and an increased nominal power output (29w versus 10w). Unlike the A200, the T3100’s speakers include both a midrange driver and a tweeter. In addition, each satellite speaker features a flared port for lower and cleaner bass response, not to mention a stylish metal grille that complements a desktop or laptop. The T3100 also includes one headphone jack and convenient volume/bass controls. The Creative Labs Inspire T3100 is priced at $49.99, exactly $20 greater than the slightly weaker Inspire A200. Features Components: 2 speakers and a subwoofer Type: Active Peak Power Output: 56 Watt Nominal Power Output: 29 Watt Frequency Response: 40z-20kHz Connectivity: Wired Controls: Power on/off, volume, bass Connector Type: 1 ... PROS: (1) The subwoofer doesnt take up much space- ideal or an office or bedroom (2) Dont have to worry about distortion at louder levels (3) Stylish- both the speakers and the subwoofer look great (4) Easy to use- subwoofer has an adjustable knob and volume is easily controlled ... CONS: (1) Lacks mid-range sound quality (2) Total system power is 60 watts, that means this speaker might not be powerful for some people (3) Blue light on the speakers is really bright when on, can be distracting

Inspire T3100 Speaker System
3 Star Review   By member respdoc - Sep 8, 2008

Strengths: Price, looks

Weakness: control layout, bass control is on the back of the sub, weak speaker stands

I bought these speakers to replace some harmon kardon speakers I bought a few years back. The HK speakers had a multi plug connector to the sound card; but the Creative speakers have just one plug. The HK speakers also had separate controls for treble and bass; the Creative speakers have only a volume control on the desktop speaker and a separate subwoofer volume on the floor unit. Since the sub controls are on the back of the unit it takes them a little more difficult to access. But overall, not a bad little speaker setup for the money. Picked up on sale at Circuit City for $15. Speaker layout good for small spaces. Tweeters offer nice high range notes. If found for mid to sub $20 range, would recommend these speakers.

Not so great, beware!

Strengths: Look good. Easy setup.

Weakness: Not dependable. Bases for sattelite speakers easily fall out.

I bought these a couple days ago from a local retailer and I had a couple problems. The left speaker didn't work with the first set, so I took it back and got a replacement. The second set worked okay until my wife turned on the washer and dryer. This resulted in loud popping/scratching noises coming from the subwoofer. I have it on a good surge protector and I tried plugging it straight into the wall with the same results. I never had this problem with my previous speakers (Harman Kardon Champagne series). I didn't want to try a third set, so I got my money back and went to another store and bought some Altec Lansing's. I haven't had them long enough to comment on them yet but I don't have the popping noise anymore. I'm not trying to bash this product, I just want people to know it's not the best quality. Who knows, maybe I just got 2 lemons.

Great for your money!
4 Star Review

Strengths: Looks great, sounds great, great deal.

Weakness: Speaker Stands.

I purchased this speaker system strictly for my PC. Also, I connected a VGA cable to my pc to view videos and movies originally viewed on my PC on my plasma. Unlike the previous review, these are NOT speakers for a Audio/Video system, such as a DVD player! Therefor, do not expect them to function more than what they are made for. The speaker system looks and sounds great. The bass is adjusted by a knob behind the subwoofer. And, the volume is handled by the right speaker. All in all, if you are looking for a better sound out of your PC, I recommend this system. Great performance at a reasonable price!

Just a Pretty Shell
2 Star Review   By member ihatepink - Mar 8, 2007

Strengths: Looks cool, sounds fine, but that's it ...

Weakness: Bass control is on the back of the sub, flimsy speaker stands, no included adapter for devices other than computer / mp3 player

I own the Creative Inspire T3000, another 2.1 speaker set, so I thought I couldn't go wrong with "upgrading" to the T3100. Upon opening the box, my first thought was, "Where is the adapter so I can connect this to my DVD player?" To my dismay, there was none. Then I inspected the sub. The bass control is on the back of it. Huge no-no ... I don't want to have to crawl under my desk / reach behind my audio setup to adjust the bass each time! The volume control is directly on the right speaker, and the right speaker connects to the sub thru a proprietary connector. I'm wary of this because I've owned Logitech systems that did this, and if this connector failed, the whole system was doomed. The audio in is also connected directly the right speaker. Another red flag in terms of possible system failure as well as awkwardness in positioning the system. The speakers look nice, but they sit on these flimsy stands that I would be worried to display in a semi-high-traffic area. I will be probably be replacing these with perhaps the uglier but more functional T3030. Boo for all form and no function!
