Bose CineMate Series II
1.5 Star Review  productwiki.com - Feb 6, 2011

The Bose CineMate Series II is a 2.1-channel surround sound system consisting of an interface module, 2 Articulated-Array speakers, and an Acoustimass woofer module. It’s essentially a more affordable downgrade from the GS Series II. It’s speakers aren’t as high tech; plus, it utilizes a simple four-button remote instead. Like its peer, however, it hosts an interface with audio (analog/optical) inputs for connecting directly to a television. And the interface is equipped with the modern decoding technology — VideoStage 5, Digital 5.1, and DTS decoding — necessary to accurately reproduce the realism from 5.1-encoded DVDs, DBS, or HDTV. Included also is Digital Dynamic Range speaker compression circuitry, which ensures soft sounds (especially dialogue) are heard even at low volumes. This means a user need not switch from low to high volumes all the time—what with a movie going from dialogue to LOUD special effects and back. Features 2.1-Channel Surround Sound System ... PROS: (1) Very good sound performance for a 2.1-channel system. (2) Helpful installation guide makes setup easier. (3) Optical and RCA Cables, screws included in the box. ... CONS: (1) Interface module does not display graphical volume information. (2) Included remote tends to be finicky. (3) More expensive than a lot of 5.1-channel speaker systems. (4) Speakers must be placed just so in order to achieve optimal sound quality.

Great, easy to use speaker system.
5 Star Review   By SuddleD on 6th Ave Electronics - Jan 11, 2010

Strengths: Easy to use and setup. Great sound from Bose. Adjustable bass control makes it even better than the original. Quality sounds and craftsmanship from Bose.

Weakness: Not a "true" surround sound system, but that's why you are looking at this product. Price can be considered high for a 2.1 speaker system, but you do get what you pay for in quality.

This is a great system for those that don't want/need a 5.1 or 6.1 surround sound system. The sound is great, the new adjustable Bass control is a much needed improvement over the original Cinemate. You get crisp clear sounds and the setup is easy. If you are looking for a great replacement for your TV speakers, and like to keep things simple, then this is a system for you. I play Xbox360 and PS3, and both really sound great through this system as well.
