4 Star Review  cnet.com - Mar 26, 2010

THE GOOD: These compact powered speakers deliver phenomenal sound for their size. They offer simple, attractive styling, and two audio inputs. THE BAD: The speakers lack a remote control, and the volume control is inconveniently located on the backside, and theres no way to toggle between inputs. The Audioengines are also a bit pricey compared with less refined PC speakers. THE BOTTOM LINE: Though theyre not cheap, the Audioengine 2 speakers are an ideal combination of compact size and good looks, delivering great sound for their size.

4 Star Review  productwiki.com - Oct 17, 2009

Audioengine 2 (A2) are high-quality powered speakers designed to be hooked up to your media player or computer. They are marketed as the "little brother" to the popular Audioengine A5 speakers, retailing for $150 cheaper, coming in at around $200. The A2s are made from the same materials: 1) high-gloss Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) for the cabinet, 2) kevlar mid-range drivers, 3) silk dome tweeter. The main difference is that they are 1/3 the size of their bigger sibling with less power. The Audioengine A2 speakers deliver 15 Watts RMS per channel with a peak output rating of 30 Watts / channel delivered from its Dual Class AB monolithic amplifiers. This power is delivered by the 2.75" Kevlar mid/bass driver and a 20mm silk dome tweeter. For their small size, they still deliver decent bass with a frequency response of between 65Hz - 22kHz because of the acoustic properties of the ... PROS: (1) Decent bass considering their tiny size (2) Both 1/" and RCA inputs (3) Come wrapped in soft pouches to prevent scratches (4) Great mids and highs (5) High quality Class AB amplifier ... CONS: (1) No headphone output (2) no S/PDIF input (3) exposed drivers - easily damaged when taking them out of their cloth bags, enjoying them around other objects / pets / children / etc... (4) having both inputs active at the same time decreases the volume of both sources, jacks up the volume when one falls silent

Great Speakers
5 Star Review   By member bdavidbsr - Feb 15, 2011

Strengths: Great sound, small size, powerful, dual inputs

Weakness: Nothing

These are great powered speakers that fill the room. They are strong clear and fit almost anywhere. I finally dumped my old sony amp, DVD and pioneer speakers in exchange for a MacMini and a set of the powered speakers. I don't need anything else.
