The most recent reviewer said, "I was hesitant to purchase another Yamaha amp/receiver as I was replacing a 2003 model that had several key features that stopped working. The old receiver did not have any HDMI ports and only had one SPDIF connection which needed updating badly. Also, the amp would no longer send LFE signals to the sub and the MD connection stopped working, making me utilize the front connection to play my iPod. When the surround speakers no longer were getting signals, I decided to purchase a sound bar. The best sounding bars were American made and all had questionable reviews concerning reliability, so I went with another Yamaha amp/receiver. I'm glad I did. The new technology of this receiver is so easy. The sound is stellar and the on-screen menu made setup very smooth. I didn't have to tune the surround system manually because of the setup mic, so I'm actually getting all of the surround sound I had always dreamed of with my last system. With my new Samsung 46" LED and this system set to the sports setting, it's like being at the game - almost. There's nothing like actually being at a baseball, football, or hockey game. I have high expectations for long-term reliability so I'm hopeful that the newer technology will work longer than my last Yamaha."
