Sony MDR-DS6000
3.5 Star Review  productwiki.com - Nov 29, 2011

The Sony MDR-DS6000 is a high-end 2.4GHz digital wireless headphone (Radio Frequency) set that is designed to provide a comfortable form of mobility. The DS6000 model is targeted for in-home, relaxed and casual use and is designed for a more mature audience. The headphones allow a listening experience up to 95 feet away from the transmitter, for maximum portability. Sony claims the MDR-DS6000 headphone set also enables an easy connection to your home audio system, TV, PC, DVD player or VCR. The MDR-DS6000 headphones also include additional features such as gold plated connectors, auto tuning, auto power on/off, auto recharge, and Neodymium Magnets. The Sony MDR-DS6000 wireless headphones were released on February 26, 2006 and have an MSRP of $299.99, which is listed on the official Sony website. Intermittent sound
3 Star Review

Strengths: convenient on/off switch, good quality sound when it works

Weakness: Tune set button on headphone is hard to find

I am generally pleased with the sound quality of these headphones, but every time I use them I must tune the processor to correct intermittent sound. I have set the frequency of my wireless router to 5.0 gHz so it will not interfere with the headphone frequency of 2.4 gHz, and there are no microwave overs or fluorescent lights on the headphones stop working. Once the the headphones are tuned, however, they work fine. Unfortunately, I must tune them at least once every time I use them.

1 Star Review   By Brian on Provantage (Channel Engine) - Oct 8, 2010

Strengths: When it works the digital sound is clean and pleasant

Weakness: The use of 2.4 ghz band interferes with home WiFi network. Sound drops out frequently even when right next to the transmitter.

I had high hopes for these headphones but I was concerned that there would be compatibility problems with home WiFi. Unfortunately my fears were well founded. I have a standard WiFi router that is on 24/7. I live in a rural area with little interference from neighbor WiFi signals. When I set up the headphones I was within 3 feet of the transmitter and found that the sound dropped out repeatedly. Moving further from the transmitter did not improve this. I tried hitting the channel select button on the transmitter to avoid conflict with my WiFi signal but nothing worked. I also found that computer devices that use the WiFi signal could not properly connect when the headphone transmitter was active. I don't know the SONY engineers do to test these devices but they are useless in the real world. Do yourself a favor don't buy these headphones.
