4 Star Review  cnet.com - Aug 27, 2009

THE GOOD: Great sounding 7.1 surround sound headset; boom mic; comfortable; in-line control box; fully customizable surround sound and mic levels; Includes high-quality carrying case. THE BAD: Wont work with Mac; USB only. THE BOTTOM LINE: While it may not be ideal for the casual PC gamer, the Megalodon is an incredible sounding and comfortable PC gaming headset that lets you fully customize your sound.

Razer Megalodon
4 Star Review  productwiki.com - May 22, 2010

The Razer Megalodon is Razers top of the line headset. There are three component to this headset, the headphone itself, a noise filtering microphone, and lastly, an external audio processing unit. The entire set is connected via a single USB port where the audio processing unit will act as an external sound card in place of your computers sound card. With the external audio processing unit (Razer Maelstrom), it is able to produce 7.1 virtual surround sound. Note that it is not true 7.1 sound, but only a software produced virtual 7.1 sound. the Razer Maelstrom can also be used as a volume control for the headphones and mic. The headset and microphone themselves are largely identical to the mid range Razer Carcharias headset, the only difference being the Megalodons headset is connected to the Maelstrom unit. Features / Specifications Headphones Frequency Response: 20 - 20,000 Hz Impedance: 32Ω at 1kHz ... PROS: (1) comfortable (2) includes hard-shell case for protection while not in use / while being transported (3) 2 quality large drivers is far better than multiple smaller, poorer ones (4) stylish all-black aesthetic (5) lightweight whilst still being large enough to cover your ears completely (circumaural) ... CONS: (1) high price (2) microphone background hiss
