My first SatNav, found the unit very easy to set up, as a HGV driver I used the demo mode to test a good few routes and was amazed at the quality of the maps. First thing was to backup the unit and had no problems, after the first upgrade to the software I did a second backup and found that the unit did not save the updated contents of the unit. Workround was to create a second folder on your computer and change the preferences to point to that folder, the software then saved the second updated backup. Verbal instructions were clear and timely with no distortion of the speaker when volume set at 100%. The units holder is a large suction cup to the windscreen which to my amazement stuck firm even on our local farm road. I added the free Motorway service POI files from www.tomtomfree.com/Ins..., these worked well however I would have thought that these would have been a must have and should have been pre-installed. My main complaint was not the unit but the Software to get updates, create backups etc. This needs a bit more work.

Tom Tom sat nav
Strengths: Easy to use and navigate around with. The voice is very clear and effective. The warnings for speed cameras are excellent and give plenty of time to react.
Weakness: The clip to hold the Sat nav on the windscreen is a bit flimsy and it fell off the first couple of times. It seems to be OK now though.
I got my Tom Tom from QVC at £124. That is at least £25 less than the best price anywhere. Check them out before buying anywhere else. The download price for the whole of Europe is £40 and that seems quite good. This will prove its worth when I go to Spain in March I hope. So far this is very easy to use and highly recommended.
