Mio DigiWalker H610
4 Star Review  laptopmag.com - Feb 26, 2007

Mio turns the ho-hum navigator into a fun lifestyle device. We were impressed by how attractive the results were, and by how many features the developers managed to fit in a small space. Besides offering turn-by-turn GPS, the DigiWalker H610 offers a music, video, and photo player, a suite of travel apps, a contact database, and several fun games.

Small, sleek and complete...
3 Star Review   By member sokoloff - Jun 22, 2008

Strengths: Its size. The fact that there is 2GB of perm. memory in the unit plus SD expandability. All access. incl. iGO Nav. software and travel extras.

Weakness: Its size. It is hard to read at times. Maps are a bit dated and still waiting for updates. The battery will not keep the time and date settings if you turn it off...must keep it on standby instead.

Now keep in mind that if you will be using a navigation system primarily while you drive, this may not be for you. If you are using it for trips and want to carry it to play short videos (which will need to be converted to its specs to view properly), look at photos and listen to music as well as have a way to get around town, and occasionally use in a car, it is a very nice system. However, the screen is quite small and given the glare that you may occasionally experience, hard to read from a distance. The voice prompts though are clear and can make up for some of that shortcomings if you occasionally use the unit in the car. Speaking of car, this unit is loaded with accessories including a very good car mount with suction cup, a USB mini cig. lighter adapter, an a/c adapter for home, which can also use diff. voltage if traveling, software for your computer and has a nice presentation. Also, technical support is great. That being said, the unit works quite well and fairly quickly. It does not come with an SD card because the unit has 2GB capacity built in, but does allow for expand. with the SD card slot (sorry, unless there will be some future firmware upgrade, no SD HC, I have tried a 4gb card to no avail...you will be limited to a maximum of a 2gb card). The unit integrates the generic iGo software developed in Hungary and used in the Mio line as well as Jensen, Amcor and many other generic brands we see these days. I even have an OnCourse iGo based card for my smart phone with the same software. It is really great software and pleasant to look at with 3D rendering and a multitude of languages and pronounciations. I love it although it is not as intuitive as the TomTom line. The negatives I have experienced is that the first one I purchased I had to return because the battery would not charge. Also, the battery in encased in the unit and not meant to be changed by the user but instead expected to be sent back when it goes at a significant cost to the end user (unlike the Siemans/Fujitsu Loox which has a battery compart. similar to a cell phone). Also, unlike most other units, if you turn the unit off, you will lose the date and time, etc. Instead, you are supposed to keep it in a sleep/standby mode with the green blinking light on which, after a week or two will drain the power unless charged...go figure...they have been selling them quite inexpensively at the new CompUSA brand new, and for the money, it makes a nice simple multimedia player, although I have a beef with the video player if not exactly formated their specs, the voice and the picture will progress at diff. rates, that also has a good nav.. system on hand, it is not that bad a deal...

Won't leave home without it!
5 Star Review   By member MioFan - Mar 23, 2007

Strengths: Easy to use - Easy to carry

Weakness: none that I can see

I have been using the H610 now for a couple of months and find that I cannot leave the house without it! The MP3 player and games are personal favorites, but I find that I use the point of interest locator almost every day. It seems like everyplace I go, I find a stunning array of new restaurant or coffee shops that I never knew existed - even in my own home town! I cannot imagine why anyone would buy a GPS only for the car anymore... This thing is incredible.

Nothing but just the best
5 Star Review   By member Yahoo1 - Dec 24, 2006

Strengths: Very compact, packed with more than GPS receiver

Weakness: Sometimes screen is not easy to read

This is the best handheld you can find from today's GPS market. POI is much better than high price device, also many features like MP3 player, video/pic player, weather and currency exchange info are exciting.

Mio H610
4 Star Review   By member steven0105 - Nov 20, 2006

Strengths: Most portable GPS unit ever seen. no flip antenna, small enough to fit in shirt pocket. good gps performance, good mutil-media functions. perfect travel mate

Weakness: screen a little smaller than usual, but good voice guidance helps

I would suggest for people who do not want a chunky gps with lots of accessories. Music and video functions quite useful when traveling. Battery last long enough for a moderate road trip without charging.
