nice for the price
4 Star Review

Strengths: Excellent sound quality. Pricing. Sharp looking. Easy to use remote. Compact size.

Weakness: little control over sound (bass, treble, etc.) Rather plain digital display.

I was going to wait a few weeks before buying a shelf system, but saw this unit at Target for $90 and thought I'd try it out. I live in an apt and money is tight, so I wanted to try something small and inexpensive. (My dog chewed up my Cerwin Vega speakers I've had since college, so it was time to buy). First of all, the unit is very sharp looking and doesn't take up a lot of space. You can tell your friends you spent around $300 for unit, and most would believe it unless they're audio afficiendos. When I first hooked it up I put in a couple of cd's, and after playing around with speaker placement and the audio controls, I thought it sounded great (great bass). One drawback is that the only audio options are: rock, pop, jazz, and flat. After listening to several cd's and the radio, I've determined that the rock option sounds best for almost any type of music. It would be nice to have more audio options, but for the price I guess that's what you get. Overall, I am very satisfied with this system and would reccommend it for anyone looking for great sound within a small space.

Sony quality shines
5 Star Review   By member cashfamtx - Jul 29, 2006

Strengths: Excellent sound for the size. 50 watts per channel is ample power for a teen-ager bedroom. The 3-disk CD changer is cleverly designed to help reduce overall unit size.

Weakness: Would prefer to have numeric keypad on remote to make it easier to select preset radio stations. As it is one has to cycle through all pre-sets with the "Next" (arrow) button.

Perfect for a teen-ager whose room is located right above their parents room, i.e. not "too" loud. Also, would be good for a den or study where space is limited.
