3.5 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jul 19, 2011

The RC-42 II is the entry-level center speaker in Klipschs high-end Reference Series. It utilizes a 1" tweeter and dual 4" woofers, outputting 75W RMS. The RC-52 II offers a step up – a 125W output – mainly through larger woofers. Both models feature "Tractrix Horn" technology (also used in much less expensive Klipsch speakers), which the manufacturer says reduces distortion, improving sound clarity and precision. The speakers drivers are magnetically shielded, preventing interference from other electronics. The vinyl cabinet is finished in a black wood pattern. Features 75W RMS output 1" titanium tweeter 2x 4" Cerametallic cone woofers 88Hz-24kHz frequency response range Bass-reflex enclosure Magnetic shielding Wood-grain vinyl cabinet 5.4" x 16" x 9.1" HxWxD ... PROS: (1) Great clarity--little to no distortion even at high volumes. (2) Fairly compact design can fit in most TV enclosures. (3) Simple, elegant wood-grain cabinet is unobtrusive. (4) Does a good job of separating and enhancing dialogue over background noise and music in movies. (5) Balances well with the whole matching 41 II/42 II speaker set. ... CONS: (1) A little bit pricey compared to similar or better performing center channel speakers. (2) Limited treble performance--gets drowned out by the mids and bass.
