Fantastic, even for beginning user
5 Star Review

Strengths: Not that difficult to get used to various features, even phonebook. Upgradeable memory for photos &/or video. Good accessories & support! Oh, and don't forget the Bluetooth which is unreal. :)

Weakness: Other than requiring an eye to the charge (I charge it every night), nothing major, other than I could not get voice activation to work...no big loss for me, since everything else is easy.

Excellent for beginning cell user. I tried an LCD a few years ago & was ready to pull my hair out. Just follow directions for V3i & in a short time, with a little exploring, it's not that complicated considering how many features are here! Have not tried music, but photos are OK, not great, but useable. Video is a little tough because it can't "follow" fast. But again, it can be fun, especially since it records sound with the vid. I LOVE Bluetooth which I bought later. I upgraded the storage chip for higher quality photos. So far, never ran out of space. The USB cable pratically works itself for removing photos from unit onto your comp. Oh, and if you buy this thing yourself, you only need a 1 year contract with Cingular...something they don't advertise. But well worth it, considering how fast things are changing. I'd buy this again in a heartbeat. Came with carrying case & dinky earphones (don't need them with Bluetooth). I also bought a car charger which is VERY much faster than AC. Oh, & the speaker works fine while driving...did not expect it to be clean & sharp, but it is. I wonder how I managed without a cell before! ;)

Phone Aggrivation
2 Star Review   By member confucioussayso - Dec 29, 2006

Strengths: Looks Cool

Weakness: No 2gb micro SD Support. Not User Friendly. Have to purchase data Kit to transfer information to phone even though the plug is a standard USB.

According to the documentation that came with the phone and the Motorola web site the phone says it supports microSD cards. In fact the phone will only support microSD cards up to 1GB. I just got off the phone with motorla tech support and according to them there isn't and never will be phone support for cards larger than 1gb. They said it was a hardware limitation of the phone, but I know for a fact that this is a software limitation. I had a Nokia phone that supported reduced size MMC cards and the phone would initially only support a 256MB card, but with a software update on the phone it was able to support a 1GB card. To me this is entirely false advertising, the documentation needs to be changed on all vendors sites and in the user manual to say supports up to 1gb microSD cards.

Cingular V3i iTunes Version kicks others in the dust!
5 Star Review   By member AlexanderAkulick - Oct 16, 2006

Strengths: RAZR style with a CNC machining flair, excellent call quality and iTunes features.

Weakness: Can't shave my beard. Lacks the "record only" feature the V3 had.

Wow! I didn't really know what an upgrade could be made from my already excellent RAZR V3. The V3i improves Video recordings to a length of of just over 30 seconds - up from the ten seconds the V3 offered. The memory just went through the roof! With 13 Mb. of "built-in" available over the the 7 Mb. the V3 had - and the V3i iTunes from Cingular comes with an additional 512 Mb. of SanDisk MicroSD TransFlash installed. That means the user can even upgrade to 2 Gb! The supplied 512 Mb. card allows for 6.5 hours of music - 100 songs in stereo! The sound of the music with stereo headphones is just great. The iTunes software CD is also supplied and will convert you MP3s to needed formats for shuffle, play by artist, album, songs, or playlists. (you can still add MP3s unchanged) Set the phone to play iTunes and just close the flip cover and slide it in your pocket. The supplied mini USB adapter, for headphones, will enable your favorite headphones - or you can use the supplied mini USB "ear-buds" with their mic for taking calls. (music can be paused for this) Incredibly, the speakers on the V3i aren't bad at all for music, just not the best. The speakers are great however, for calls. Yes, 100 songs to 512 Mb. of memory and you still have room for pictures and more! (100 songs takes up only about 370 Mb.) The camera is a 1.2 Mega-Pixel model with 8X zoom, and it is capable of taking some very nice pictures. Video is about the same as before, but there are added control features for both - negative filters and colors are only a few, and pictures done at 8X in sunlight are of good quality and better than those using the older V3. Call quality using the 800/900/1800/1900 GSM bands is just as great as it was in the updated software model of the previous V3, but the new battery (BR-50) makes a difference for the better in standby and in-call times - reducing charge times needed. GSM data is GPRS - with EDGE available in 3G areas. So, real time TV can be viewed if you add the feature to your package in 3G areas. Four games are also installed to kill some time when needed. The phone book is the same again, but with a twist - this phone has all the features the PEBL added. Voice recognition and Voice Commands make the V3i a fast dialer of stored or spoken phone numbers - and features like camera, voicemail, redial, and received calls. Don't forget this one also shares the same FAX and PRINTER features the PEBL had if you need them. I lost my PEBL, preferring the V3 style, but not before I returned to using my older V3. The V3i just annihilated the PEBL completely. Computer ready with the mini USB to standard USB cable included, this V3i iTunes "has it all". Motorola Mobile Phone Tools works well with this model also, but you will need to keep up with the provided Apple iTunes software. It initiates automatically when you use the USB connection. So, use your Motorola Mobile Phone Tools software with the Bluetooth connection only to prevent system hangs. Killer new looks and features make the V3i iTunes phone what everyone wanted in the original RAZR V3.

The look of the phone is a great start and has features that the original ravors do not posses. The weight and the feel of the phone feels better that original razors. The voice command is an adopted feature from "Samsong", meaning when you program a name is direct what it will dial when you speak into the phone. In other words there is no voice record of the persons name you dial. What can be aggrvetting is depending on the name can be hard to read for the phone. RAZR V3i Unlocked International on Cingular
4 Star Review   By member barjahaall - Aug 14, 2006

Strengths: Outstanding feature set (MP3 playback, voice recognition, 1.2 MP camera, micro SD slot).

Weakness: Unlocked international version has British english language pack, so voice recognition expects a British accent, and sometimes fails to understand my North East American dialect. Internet settings do

Overall it is a great phone, and a huge upgrade to the original RAZR. I like the phone, and would recommend it - although as always there are some trad-offs (see Strenghts and Weaknesses). Also, Internet settings don't allow access to the Cingular MEdia Net, and apparently that can't easily be fixed without reflashing the phone to the Cingular/iTunes firmware.

great phone, but needed some hacking
3 Star Review   By member matt80909 - Jul 25, 2006

Strengths: itunes where available (some have just a regular motorola mp3 player, not much of a difference, but itunes is so easy to use), memory card backup, mp3 ringtones, video, data storage

Weakness: so-so pictures; keypad is thin and makes typing text or #s difficult, just a downside of any razr; instruction book not very helpful; hacking might be necessary with certain bugs

With tmobile service a blank text message would be sent every time a voice mail came through...tmobile cant support the phone, and said v3i is not compatible with voicemail software... You can hack into the phone through free downloadable programs (p2kman and xvi32) and fix it... look up the fix online, it worked for me. Kind of a hassle with the message bug w/tmobile, but fixable for someone who knows programming and otherwise its a good looking, quality phone. 2 accessories are a must, stero headphones, and data cable, mine came with neither and i had to buy seperately.

5 Star Review

Strengths: Style, Weight, Sound, everything!

This is a great phone, a friend of mine got me the v3i in hong kong about 3 months ago. It is a great phone and i love it. The camera is so much better then the regular V3, and you can put pictures, songs, videos from your computer onto the phone. I have a 512mb card in mine, and i love it! An amazing phone, a bit pricey. I know theyre alot cheaper on ebay because i just baught another.

great phone, lots of features packed in a slim phone!
5 Star Review   By member dwoo619 - Jun 11, 2006

Strengths: sd micro 1gb upgradable, excellent camera/video capture

Weakness: price

i purchased the version without itunes. supposedly, the version with itunes does not allow you to use mp3 ringtones and forces you to buy $1 songs. the generic mp3 player is great, but the mp3 ringtone that you choose to use must be placed on phone memory in order to be used as a ringtone. the keys are slightly different than the v3, but im sure ill get used to it. i sold my v3x online because it was just too heavy and thick. compareed to the v3x, the camera has a little less resolution, there is no video calling, and you have to record your voice tags instead of the phone understanding you. also, the v3i only remembers the last 10 received/dialed calls, the v3x remembers 30. also, the v3i is a quad band phone, the v3x is tri-band because it needs to dedicate one band to video calling, i believe. this means you will be dropped less with the v3i. overall, i love this unit and would recommend!

Very good mobile phone. Mine came with a lot of accessories, including 256MB memory card. iTunes is a good addition, headphones are OK, sound level is a little bit low, 256MB card can have 60 songs on it. Connection is great, can customize everything. Very satisfied.
