 Stance on Iraq: |
Would have voted for the $87 billion spent to help rebuild Iraq, because "the fact is we are committed and we cannot leave the job half finished." Spending the money will create a democratic Iraq that will remove a threat to Middle East peace and Israel. |

| Abortion: |
My view could best be characterized as predominantly pro-life except in cases of rape, incest, or when the mother's life is endangered. In addition, I oppose partial birth abortions and support parental notification when an abortion is being considered by anyone under 18 years old |

As the author of California's famed "3 Strikes" law, Jones helped lead the criminal justice reforms that today are proving their worth in declining rates of crime |

| Same Sex Marriage: |
I respectfully ask Mayor Newsom and the City of San Francisco to stop violating state law by granting marriage licenses to same-sex couples. And I also ask that Barbara Boxer publicly explain her contradictory record on this issue to the millions of fair-minded Californians who believe as I do that marriage should be between a man and a woman. |

Bill Jones is one of California's most respected Republican leaders, with an impressive balance of experience as a rancher, businessman, legislator and state constitutional officer.
He was elected California Secretary of State in 1994. Bill became the first resident of the Central Valley to serve in a statewide constitutional office in over a century. He was reelected in 1998, with the endorsement of almost every major newspaper in California. His administrative skills were exemplified by the fact that after eight years the number of state employees remained nearly constant in the Secretary of State's office. California was a national leader in implementing procedures to insure integrity of the ballot box under his leadership.
Bill was a member of the State Assembly from 1982 to 1994. He served as the Assembly Republican Leader. Bill is a recognized leader in the agricultural, trade, and water issues. In 1994, he received national acclaim as author of California's popular "Three Strikes" law.
Bill Jones's public and private career has qualified and prepared him to be a great United States Senator representing our great state. His unblemished public service career has made him a front-runner for the Republican nomination, and best positioned to defeat Barbara Boxer.
Both the public and private polls show Bill Jones is the strongest republican when the republican field is matched against Boxer. These polls also show Jones is the only republican with real statewide name I.D. Also, in every survey, Bill Jones enjoyed big leads in the primary ranging from 21 to 30 points.
