Being a former Watch Officer at the National Security Agency (NSA) at Ft. Meade, Maryland, just outside Washington D.C., I learned that Presidents have access to more information than we have as civilians. It’s easy to be critical when you don’t have all the information. However, I did have a problem with the way the war begun. According to the Constitution, only Congress has the authority to declare war…and it’s not been done since December 11,1941 (World War II). I think something we, as Congress, must do is reevaluate how we declare war or the use of military force. We need to stick to the Constitution regardless of who is President. Today, however, we can not change the fact that we ARE at war and we must be in it to win. We must support our troops. We must support and pray for our leaders and our President |

When there are two eyewitnesses (one witness could and possibly should be DNA testing) I am for it. Capital punishment is necessary for justice when someone takes the innocent life of another. It has also proven to be a strong deterrent when done correctly and efficiently. |

| Candidate Bio |
| Senator Holt began his public service as a representative in the Arkansas House after being elected by the people of the fifth district back in 2000. He was later elected to the Arkansas Senate in 2002, where he currently serves the 35th district. Jim has a proven conservative record. He is pro-ethics, pro-education, and pro-business. He is motivated by his faith, and has pledged upon his sacred honor to defend our faith, freedom, families, and our limited form of government (as defined by our Constitution).
~ Of all the issues facing America today, Senator Holt knows it is imperative that we confront our Nation’s runaway Judiciary and its power-grabbing efforts to make the Constitution a document that means whatever a judge personally wants it to mean. "They have usurped the powers of the legislative and executive branches, and have stolen the rights of the people. They have gone unchallenged long enough."
~ Jim has been an advocate for the elderly, the disabled, and the unborn. He fought hard against the "Nursing Home Bed Tax". He co-sponsored and was an integral part of the passage of the "Woman’s right to Know" bill of 2001 and the "Ultra Sound" bill of 2003, helping to reduce abortions in Arkansas. Jim is one of the key legislators bringing the Veteran’s Nursing Home to Northwest Arkansas. He was endorsed by the National Rifle Association in his 2002 Arkansas Senate race (current endorsement pending). Jim’s legislative record has placed him among the top five legislators who consistently vote against new taxes and fees. He was the only senator in the 2003 session and one of only five representatives in 2001 who voted against his own pay raise. Jim authored ACT 1730; which holds political parties accountable by requiring them to report contributions and expenditures.
~ Senator Holt has been appointed to the Governor’s Advisory Board for TEEN PACT, a Christian organization that trains young people to be political leaders who will impact the nation and the world. He was one of 25 Legislators nation-wide who attended the Foundations Forum; a conservative assembly designed to help America’s leaders bring the country back to the principles upon which it was founded.
~ Jim was born in Camden, Arkansas and was reared in Northwest Arkansas. He’s lived in both farming country and suburbia. His fondest memories were on the farm with his grandfather. He joined the military in 1987 and served in the U.S. Army Joint Intelligence Operations at the National Security Agency under the presidencies of Ronald Reagan, George Bush, and Bill Clinton. Jim was involved in highly classified operations during the Cold War, the ousting of Noriega from Panama, and Operation Desert Storm. While working at NSA, he served as Watch Officer, Senior Team Manager, Analyst, and Linguist. He received his training at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, Good Fellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas, and Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Jim also studied science and pre-med. at the University of Maryland.
~ Jim has been happily married to his sweetheart Bobye Barenberg for 17 years. They have eight children. They are members of Bible Grace Fellowship in Springdale, Ark. where he serves as an Elder. He was ordained as a minister in 1996 through the Southern Baptist Church.
~ Jim is running for US Senate "because of love: Love for Christ, love for my family, love for this great country, and love for the people of Arkansas." Jim will continue to stand for what is right. He will continue to have a listening-ear and a servant’s heart toward the people of Arkansas. He would consider it an honor to serve as our next U.S. senator.
