D-Link DAP-1522 Review: Dual-band Draft 11n for the Masses?
3 Star Review  Small Net Builder - Jun 2, 2008

D-Link's draft 802.11n AP / Bridge can open up the 5 GHz option to your wireless LAN for about $100. But 2.4 GHz performance leaves a lot to be desired.

D-Link DAP-1522 Wireless Bridge
3 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jul 23, 2009

The D-Link DAP-1522 Xtreme N Duo Wireless Bridge/Access Point adds wireless connectivity to as many as four Ethernet-enabled entertainment devices like game consoles, digital media centers, Blu-Ray Disc Players, and IP-connected TVs/DVRs. In addition to bridging multiple wired devices onto an existing wireless network, it can also be used as with a wired LAN as an Access Point to create a draft 802.11n wireless network on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands. The former band is backward compatible with existing, legacy 802.11g wireless products, and the more interference-free latter band is optimized for HD media streaming. ... PROS: (1) Four Gigabit Ethernet ports (2) Dual internal antennas (3) Supports WPA2, RADIUS authentication ... CONS: (1) Single radio supports one selectable band (2) Auto mode switch position often fails

DAP-1522 Xtreme N Wireless Bridge/Access Point
3 Star Review   By member jgranato - Jan 29, 2009

Strengths: Appearance, Speed, Ease of use

Weakness: Range

I purchased this item to create a wireless bridge for my upstairs entertainment center. The device is priced competitively with other bridge makers brands. This devices are specialized which means to me that the manufactures are charging a premium for them. The user interface is browser based and pretty simple to configure. To configure the bridge I found it was best to connect it directly to my router. Once it was configured, I could then simply connect devices to it. The only negative I found was it didn't have as good of a range as I would have liked.

I wish it had antennas
3 Star Review   By Mr. NotImpressed on NowDirect.com - Jan 15, 2009

Strengths: Wireless n, Gigabit switch

Weakness: signal strength, speed.

I admit my house has been somewhat problematic for all of the wireless routers I have owned, but I had hoped that the wireless N standard would live up to it’s hype. Of course I was wrong. I have this bridge paired with the DIR-825 router. I had to play all kinds of games moving the router and bridge to various locations just to get a signal strong enough to connect faster than my wireless G router. In the end it is a little faster than my wireless G router, and the signal is a little stronger, but not much. Nowhere near the increases the wireless n standard claims.

DAP-1522 Bridge/Access Point
5 Star Review   By member Virtue - Dec 16, 2008

Strengths: Draft-N Wireless Really, really fast reliable Can be configured 2 ways (bridge or AP) Looks nice Gigabit ethernet

Weakness: Pricey No external antenna

Using this box to bridge my lan upstairs to the basement. Paired with the Dlink DIR-825 router, this thing really flies. It's more than twice as fast as the previous Wireless-G bridge I used before. Using firmware 1.10 Dlink products rock

Works Great - Fast
4 Star Review   By member martintomsal - Nov 20, 2008

Strengths: Good reception, fast transmission.

Weakness: No way to turn off lights!

I am using this bridge in conjunction with the companion Xtreme N Wireless Router. This unit is in the media room and provides web access to an Xbox, BluRay player, Tivo HD, and TVIX media tank. It is working flawlessly, and was instantly accepted into the system when I set it up. It also connected all the devices with no problems. My only complaint is that it has multiple activity and status lights flashing which can't be turned off. This is a real PITA for a media room situation. I had to cover them up with tape. You should have an option or a dimmer for the lights.
