D-Link WBR-1310
2.5 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jul 15, 2009

The D-Link WBR-1310 is an entry-level Wireless G Router for sharing Internet access, checking email, and enjoying online games. An immediate step up from the EBR-2310, the WBR-1310 builds upon its predecessor’s limited features by adding along support for 802.11b/g and 802.3u wireless networks. It features four 10/100 Ethernet ports, as well as one 10/100 WAN port. Plus, the WBR-1310 boasts several advanced Firewall functions, including Network Address Translation (NAT), Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and MAC filtering. For users connected by Wi-Fi, the WBR-1310 supplies both 64/128-bit WEP and WPA protection algorithms. Like its intuitive peer, the WBR-1310 is simple to operate and install, making it a suitable choice for non-technical users seeking a simple and affordable network solution. The D-Link WBR-1310 retails for $45.99 and comes with a 1 year limited warranty. WBR-1310
2 Star Review   By Anonymous on HP - May 1, 2009

Although the product details do not indicate the model number of this router, I'm quite sure it is the D-Link WBR-1310 model. I have this router, and it has been nothing but trouble and poor performance. It is a real stretch to give this a 2-star rating. The setup screens are poorly designed, making it difficult to make configuration changes. The BIOS has not been updated since 2002, and it is very buggy. When using certain web based media applications (Windows Media Player) there are times when the modem will essentially lock up and begin blinking all lights, in which case you must unplug the router, and reboot it to get connectivity again. The router is often unable to provide a TCP/IP address to a requesting wireless device. Again, rebooting the router makes it work again. This router has been an utter frustration. You should take a closer look at the offerings from LinkSys.

Outstanding Router
5 Star Review   By member curly9702 - Jan 16, 2009

Strengths: Reliable, speed, price

I bought this device cheap over a year ago and never had problems. The connection is always fast and it never drops or bounces. This is my second D-Link router and I have the to the interface is pretty easy to follow. At any given time I have multiples computers (desktop, laptops, PSP, iPhone, iPod, WII) connected online and no problem at all. I have this router in the basement while most of my devices are upstairs on the second floor and I still get strong signals despite walls and floors.

What an annoying router
1 Star Review

Strengths: small

Weakness: Re-connect after reconnect

This router has been so hopeless, I cannot get my printer connected on the network, my printer has its own router. I had a linksys before, I received this router for free with a new pc so I thought I would try it. I am going back to my linksys.

Glutton for Punishment
1 Star Review   By member bunnystick - Dec 10, 2007

Strengths: the lights are really pretty with the rest of the blinking lights that make up my computer setup.

Weakness: how about holding a connection for more then 2 minutes

You would do the world a favor--if you EVER decided on purchasing this product--if you smashed the box to bits in the parking lot, turned around, walked BACK into the store, and bought a better \\\\\\\\\'effing router. Essentially then you spent the money on a broken box and still had to buy a new router, but that is the price for making a **stupid** purchase. I think i shall take my advice and do what i shoulda done a long time ago. It\\\\\\\\\'s what i get for making a stupid purchase.

OK Router.
3 Star Review   By member MikeySoft - Nov 29, 2007

Strengths: Free after rebate with new laptop.

Weakness: WPA/WPA2 simultaneous mode does not work with my WPA client.

I already have a good G router but this one came free after rebates with a new laptop. . Always use wi-fi security. WEP is not very good, WPA and WPA2 are a lot better while WPA is good for home use, WPA2 is better. This router supports all 3 modes. . Newer routers have a wi-fi mode where they can run both the WPA and WPA2 security modes at the same time with different clients. My TRENDnet TEW-452BRP does this. It connects to my two laptops using the WPA2 security mode. It (the TRENDnet) also connects to an older desk top using WPA mode at the same time. . The D-Link router also has the simultaneous WPA/WPA2 mode. However, it will not connect to my WPA client in this mode. I updated to the latest firmware, 1.04, and this did not help so I'm using my TRENDent router and not the DLink. . According to DLink's web site, there are 3 hardware revisions for the DLink WBR1310, revisions A, B, and D. I don't know what happened to revision C. My WBR1310 is revision A. Maybe the WPA/WPA2 problem has been corrected in version D or later.

Worst Router I Have Ever Owned
1 Star Review   By member Juba310 - Nov 22, 2007

Strengths: vertical stand is nice, price was right.

Weakness: CANNOT hold a signal for more than 15 minutes, resets admin password at random.

Stay away from this router. Seriously. I was in search of a basic wireless router to set up a network in my apartment, and ended up picking this guy over the similarly priced Linksys. What a mistake. I\\\'ve owned Dlink products in the past (cable modem, a different router) and I usually feel they perform better than most other brands--- they really dropped the ball on this one. Mistakenly, I didn\\\'t check any reviews before buying it, but if you look, you\\\'ll see the same thing over and over. The WBR-1310 drops its wireless signals, without fail, every 5-15 minutes. Not once, in the entire time I owned it (which was only 2 weeks untill I finally got fed up enough to return it) did it hold a signal for over 15 minutes. This resulted in tons of frustration having to reconnect to it multiple times any time I wanted to use the internet. At first I thought it might just be some of the settings, so after a couple days of putting up with it, I tried to go back into the settings to see if something was wrong there. Low and behold, I couldn\\\'t even log in. It simply changed my password! What a joke. After that happened I decided to see if I was going crazy, or if other people were having problems. Looking on pricegrabber and other websites, I can see its not just me--- the dropped signals and password changes seem to be very common. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this piece of junk

Strengths: Fast, always connected. No problems after 1 year of use.

Weakness: Can't think of any.

I bought this router from NewEgg and have had no problems with it in a year of use. Always connected and fast. I use it with a desktop and two laptops. Fast setup and easy to use for a non-techie. I loved the price and the reliability of the performance. Plan to buy another for college student daughter.

Don't buy it!
1 Star Review   By member jerloper - Jul 25, 2007

Strengths: Easy to use when it works Compact design Cheap

Weakness: Cheap for a reason Forgets admin password after about 24-hours D-link support useless

When I first got this router I was very happy with it. Then one day I tried to log back into it to changes some settings. It would not accept the password I was using. Ok maybe I put something different as the password(highly unlikely). Held the reset button in to set it back to factory defaults and configured it the way I wanted and it works fine. Couple days later and again the password doesn't work. Set it back to defaults again and couple days later same problem. I have found several forum discussion topics on this problems and there still is not fix for it. D-link makes it seem like they have never heard of this issue and offer stupid fixes that obviously don't work. If I hadn't lost the receipt this thing would have been returned already.

Pretty frustrating experience
1 Star Review   By member rjkent - Apr 8, 2007

Strengths: Cheap, decent signal

Weakness: Frequent loss of connection, frequent hard lockups, firmware updates don't help.

I'm not prone to "worst XYZ ever" reviews, but this router has been extremely frustrating and problematic. Ever since we installed it, it would drop connection for 5-15 minutes at random times of day. Frustrating, but tolerable. Lately, though, it has been freezing up completely - we have to hard reboot (by unplugging it) at least 3-5 times a week. I'm a relatively competent computer user and so I didn't hesitate to track down the latest firmware and flash the unit... the upgrade went smoothly enough, but unfortunately didn't solve any of the problems! It still freezes very frequently and none of the support documentation or FAQs address my issues. I'll probably have to buy a new router altogether... what a pain. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra $20 and get a decent router, this one is cheap but not enough to justify the bad performance.

stay away
1 Star Review

Strengths: low price

Weakness: poor support, device-killing bug

The "new" firmware on this, 1.03, will cause the router to forget the admin login information, forcing the user to reconfigure it. This happens after a day or so of use. Do a search for: d link firmware 1310 1.03 bug The clueless boneheads at Dlink that let this firmware go out act just as clueless about this issue, even though it has been reported by at dozens of users. The bug has been out for 6 months, and no fix from them, so you know what kind of company you are dealing with here. I will never again purchase anything made by this sory excuse for a tech company.

Strengths: quick, simple

Weakness: none so far

I bought this with purchase of a laptop. It is cheap but enough for family use. I looks simple but good quality. I donot think we should spend more than $50 to buy router. D-link's brand is good in networking stuff.

Strengths: Quick and painless setup. Strong signal throughout a 2 story house. Doesn't break the bank. User friendly.

Weakness: none yet.

I purchased mine at bestbuy the other day. After I got home my network was up within minutes. I haven't had any disconnects and or signal problems. I'm glad I went with D-Link this time. (prior netgear)

bad!
1 Star Review   By member ppzhu - Dec 1, 2006

Strengths: small

Weakness: weak signal. drop connection all the time.

Worst router I have ever seen. I set up this router in my study room on the second floor. But I cannot use my laptop on the first floor ---- signal is too weak. It drops connection all the time(both wired and wireless). I even cannot access 192.168.0.1 address. The only solution is recycle the power. I just cannot remember how many time I have rebooted it since I brought it one month ago. The new firmware (1.0.3) does not help. During the upgrade, It lost all my profile. I had to reset it again. Don't buy it. It is an expensive piece of junk. I would rate it 0 star if I had the choice. I paid $49 at Circuit City.

Hate to write a bad review
1 Star Review   By member howdoo - Oct 29, 2006

Strengths: Didn't last that long to describe any

Weakness: Connection drops, reboots constantly

I had a D-link wireless router for about 4 years before it started to give spontaneous reboots and the dreaded "internal malfunction" light appeared. I decided to purchase another D-link, this time the WBR 1310, because of its price and simple home networking connection. When I first connected it I had internet! Only after one week did the reboots appear again. The odds of the same problem occurring with a brand new item? I connected brand new wires, made a direct connection from the cable modem to the computer to rule out LAN card (and/or cable modem) issues and even plugged it into another computer (with a different LAN and modem! Same issue. I have to agree with the other reviewers that connectivity stinks with this router. The only way my review will be worthless is if I purchase a third router, from a different brand name, and the same issue occurs; although, I'm not holding my breath. Sorry, D-link, it was good while it lasted.

If you are patient enough to reboot your computer every few minutes you may consider this type of router! The only thing for me to do right now is return.

Hardware is not that great
1 Star Review   By member Pookymeister - Oct 1, 2006

Strengths: Easy to install

Weakness: Drops connections

I bought this for my girlfriends laptop. It was easy to install and setup, especially the security. Everything seemed to be going well for a while. Now I notices that she constantly loses connectivity every so often. She complains once a day about not being able to connect to a website - and after that I noticed that she gets logged off AIM fairly regularly, even when she is not on her computer. Since she doesn't require an always on connection, we will keep it - but if this were something I relied on, it would have been returned. Highly NOT recommended.

Cheap router. Bang 4 ur buck!
3 Star Review

Strengths: Look, price, easy to install, compact, nice customer support. Never drops connection. Works with 3 computers or more (wireless).

Weakness: Range sucks. Worst signal strenght i've ever experienced.

I've been using it as a router since may (5 months ago). I have 3 computers and all of them recieve signal at same time. It was easy to install. Got it for 35 bucks on best buy. Dont install it in a big house, for short range use only. Never drops the signal. Looks great! Speed is average.

What happened to Dlink?
1 Star Review

Strengths: Looks good.

Weakness: Functionality.

This is really a bad router - it just won't work right. It keeps resetting itself losing connection to the ISP and to the computers connected to it, so instability in a router is just unacceptable. I've installed more than a dozen routers - Linksys, Netgear, Zyxel, Motorola and Dlink - but this model is the worst. I'm surprised that Dlink released such a bad product because their other models work just fine. I upgraded the firmware and disabled several features (which helped a little bit) but still every hour or two it reset itself. Calling support didn't help, they admitted that they have problems with it and a new firmware should fix it and it should be out soon. After two weeks of configuring and trying different options I just gave up and got another router.

Expensive and stylish piece of junk!!
1 Star Review   By member bulakh - Jul 22, 2006

Strengths: Looks

Weakness: Price, Performance, Interface, Reliability...pretty much everything!

This is a very poor router. I've used many routers before and none of them come even close to being as bad as this piece of hardware is. It is unreliable, it constantly reboots and drops connections, and, on top of that, it is somewhat expensive. Avoid this router at all costs! Trendnet TEW-511BRP is much better (and cheaper - when on sale) solution.

D-Link WBR-1310 Wireless-G Router
5 Star Review   By member zipmale - Jun 30, 2006

Strengths: Compact design, black color, removable antena

Weakness: No reset button, obsolete firmware

I've been using this router over a week and I gotta admit it's a very convenient tool. I had difficulties with Port Forwarding function until I updated routers firmare from its website. After that my router works just fine.
